9/19 using teeoff $19 for 9 playing with 2 really nice guys and following a 2some and 4 some had POP of about 115. 1st time here and a fun layout and more difficult than the length would indicate with the fairways having good cover but quite soft from the recent hurricane. Nice lies but limited roll out. Rough was tough being long and tangled roviding quite a challenge to advance.
Tees were not in the best of shape with the par 3s mostly beat up and thin. Many also were uneven with some pronounced slope. Did not get into any bunkers which looked to have acceptable sand and were groomed.
As indicated earlier the course plays harder than the length as the fairways are more narrow than they appear from the tee. There is often enough of a dog leg to also shrink the landing area. And then there are the greens all having significant slope often maginfied by the prevailing topography. Most were in nice shape with # 8 having significant issues with a large bare area. I had trouble getting the pace. And way too often found myself short sided which did not go well. Overall an enjoyable outing a nice scenic location, good weather and good company. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

Have played a number of rounds this past month. The course had a rough time with the heavy rain but is dried out and looking pretty nice. They are still having issues with gofers. There are some patches of dirt but most of the fairways are pretty nice. The greens are running nice and fast again so putt with caution. They also have filled the bunkers with nice sand so they are a pleasure to play out of. Overall the course is in excellent shape with about a month left in the season. They will be closing at the end of October so get out and play while there is still time.

Today 5-26-23 was opening day for the course. It must be tough to get a course in top shape after 7 months but they have done a decent job. They are re-paving all the cart paths the base layer is done but still to be finished so the paths were blocked off and cart directed along the side of hem. This created a number of problems slowing play unfortunately. Greens are pretty slow but that should change soon. Fairways are in good shape and the rough is rough!!! The rough would make the Open rough seem tame 6 to 8 inches deep. You can lose a ball a couple feet off the fairway and if you find it hitting out of it will take some major strength. Bunkers are firm but better than what we found at Morongo or Green Tree. Looking forward to a great season ahead.

Have been playing all summer and the course has been is OK shape but not what I have gotten used to here. Played Monday and with the recent rains the course is as nice as ever. Fairways lush, greens smooth and fast. The sand has improved as well. Much softer and well filled. Only real negative these day are the tee boxes. There are several that are more dirt than grass and a few that are humped so you are dealing with the choice of an uphill lie or downhill one. If you have ever considered playing here this is the time to do it! Only a month and a half till it closes for the season so make the trip and check it out!

Got out to play the first round of the season 5-31-21. Course is in OK shape but it has only been open a week. Fairways were fuzzy and the greens are a bit slow. Sand looked good but was not in any so can't say how they played. Only saw one dead area with a few patches of what I would call ground under repair but overall not bad for this early with promise for the upcoming year!

I booked a twosome for Labor Day weekend online over a month ago. Showed up early and was able to putt! Not a ton of practice greens open in LA. We were first 3 or 4 groups out and teed off on time. The course is in great shape and is much more challenging than the slope would lead you to believe. Definitely some challenging holes and if you're not in the fairway, the rough will make you pay. Overall, a great 9 hole course. My only complaint is the green fee. I know it's a Holiday weekend. But I feel that $50 for 9 holes is a little steep.

Played 9-2-2020. They now have a twilight rate after 3 for $25. This should be the regular price in my opinion but that doesn't count for much. Course is in the best shape it has been all year! Fairways are lush and greens are smooth and moderately fast. Holiday weekends are not the time to check it out unless you are OK with a 3 hour 9 but I am hoping it will stay this nice for the rest of the month. Even the sand is better than normal though I was only in 1 trap. There was a period where the fairways were getting splotchy with many dirt spots. This round there were only 2 spots that were questionable. Come up and get away from the heat and enjoy a fun round!

Wanted to "splurge" a bit for my birthday so I was considering a couple places like Journey at Pechanga, etc., but it's been so hot so the idea of spending a day in Big Bear and "splurging" on a near $50 9-hole course appealed to me, so I booked a 3:45 TeeOff.com "Deal" time here for today. It was $50-something but I had a 15% promo code so I think it was around $44. Checked in a little early and was told I could head straight out. Turned out there was another single who'd just teed off and another who pulled up right behind me, so we all joined up and played as a threesome. Waited pretty much on every shot, but still moved decent, finishing nine in a little under two hours. It was my first time here. Conditions are decent, highlighted by really nice greens. They are smooth, fast and accept full shots well, even though they're pretty firm. With the course built on a mountain, everything runs really fast toward the lake, which is sort of deceiving. Fairways were decent, mostly good, thin coverage but some iffy spots too. Rough was a couple inches deep and pretty lush. There are some nice-looking tall grasses if you get far off line on some holes. Bunker sand was surprisingly nice for having no rakes. Tee boxes definitely the low point, but you've got a tee anyway, so no big deal. Funky little course that requires either smart play or straight shots, but I attempted to take advantage of that thin mountain air and hit too many drivers, etc., and played terribly. Some holes have a bit of a "wedged in" feel, but there's plenty of width if you play smart. Back-to-back par 3s at Nos. 7 & 8 are probably the highlight holes. On No. 8, the ladies get their revenge for all the cool par 3s that are neutered for the red tees, with a super-cool tee box built on the end of a pier out in the middle of a lake. I wanted so bad to hit from there! :-) Also the par-4 3rd is a nice hole with an elevated green where a hazard separates the end of the fairway and the green surrounds. If it was $25 or so, I'd definitely want to play here again. But with "Deal" prices over $50 for 9 holes, one visit is probably sufficient. EDIT: Just looked at sixpez's photos of the course here. It's definitely NOT in that nice of condition right now.
