Played 3-11-17 on a golfnow deal using a promo code so only came out to $16.49 including cart. Got paired up with a threesome, teeing off at 10am and a little over 5 hours later we were finally done. Tee boxes were in good shape, mostly level and lush. Fairways for the most part were in descent shape with some small bare areas. Rough was a mix from long and thick to short and thin with some bare spots mixed in. Didn't go into any bunkers but they looked okay. Greens were rolling medium speed with some bumps and a little on the soft side. Overall course is in descent shape.

It has been sometime since I have played Chino Creek so I got up early to take it on. Dennis (one of the great starters around) got me right out to walk solo. There was a 3 some already out on the course and caught em’ on the back but I wasn’t in any hurry at all. The course is challenging for sure but it is also in really nice condition. Fairways are lush with some patchy spots and holes out there but for the most part, you get a nice lie. The greens are really nice. Smooth and they roll well. Sand traps are in good shape also. I was only in a couple for a change but they are firm but they play nicely. The rough is very thick and hard to hit out of if you’re in there. You can easily lose balls in there (which I did) so make sure you hit the fairways. There are foot golf tee boxes and holes out there which was interesting to see. I have never seen foot golf played but have noticed some course are accepting it. Whatever it takes to help some of these golf courses stay open is fine by me. I find this course somewhat challenging (I seem to be saying this a lot lately :>) but enjoyable. It plays longer than posted on the scorecard and you cannot stray off of the fairway because of the thick rough. Not the most beautiful setting but I always have a good time out here.

3/1 using Underpar $40 2some with rangeballs on a generally sunny am with a breeze picking up after 3rd hole to gust into a 1-2 club wind. Busy with steady parade of groups going out ahead of our 840 tee time--paired with Burt and Tom nice guys --started to struggle off 1st tee looking unsucessfully for balls in the rough which I guess was too much for the 2some on the tee as they jumped ahead as we were putting--then we waited on them as they were waiting on the field--POP shade over 4 1/2 hours. Fairways have benefited from the rain--only a few bare spots--mostly green not soggy with good lies and cushion. Rough is a mixed offering very thin in places then deep thick and gnarly in others to the point that the ball disappears and is really penal--also some unusual patches like islands of rough 3-4 feet across scattered randomly along the fairways. Areas around the greens consistently about 2 inches deep. Tees lush almost all level with little divot damage. Bunkers need to be groomed were packed sand but no standing water. Greens were medium fast to fast cut yesterday--some were a little bumpy but overall rolled pretty true but generally had subtle breaks and some pins were really tricky especially front placements. Greens on the larger side with options for some real tough/challenging locations. Receptive to approach shots but tending to run out on chips and pitches. Nice 6 foot apron framing all the greens. Friendly welcoming staff--no cart service on course.

**First, I just want to preface this review by stating that the Chino Creek course suffered some pretty serious flood damage from the storms last week. Some holes were clearly under 2-3 feet (or more) of rushing water at that time. With that in mind, I tried to be fair in my review.

We booked a Sunday early afternoon tee time for a very reasonable rate. However, with this being the nicest weekend weather in the last couple months - the course was very busy. That, combined with the flood damaged conditions on some holes (especially Back 9) meant we were sent off about 45 minutes after our scheduled time. We received a small discount, but I believe the communication from the staff could have been better instead of just "We're waiting for carts".

A big annoyance is that decided to send out foot golf groups behind us, including two groups of teens who may or may not have understood the rules of golf. The first group simply played through us without even acknowledging our existence. The second group came behind them and tried to "tee up" while we were ready on the tee. We screamed at them to stop but they didn't seem to care. Eventually, we did let them play through, but we shouldn't have to handle that. The clubhouse needs to communicate the rules better, and to place a larger gap between the last golf group and the foot golf groups.

Overall, the course is in ok shape considering the flood damage. Greens are quite nice and some of the best you'll find on a course like this one. Same with the tee boxes. Fairways on non flood-damaged holes were ok, but not terribly bad, good enough. The fairways on 2, 10, and 11 had a lot of mud damage. #10 and #11 fairways were mostly unplayable. Basically dried up mud with grass patches.

Even with the course condition, and the foot golf nonsense, this was an enjoyable round. You get what you pay for, but it's a good price. I would really like to play this course again in a few months when it has a time to recover.

Early morning tee time on black Friday, the course was very busy and the staff did a good job keeping on schedule. Tees, fairways and rough had good coverage. The greens were in great shape, rolled nice and smooth with medium speed. POP was a little over four hours.

Played 11-4-16 first out walking as a foursome in a little under 4 hours for $27. Tee boxes were in descent shape, some being a little un level and a little thin. Fairways were very nice with good coverage and lies. Rough was very thick in some areas and had other areas that were bare. Didn't go in any bunkers but they looked a little firm. Greens were in nice shape, rolling medium speed and semi soft. Fun track to get out and play once in a while.

Played alone as a single this afternoon, hanging behind a slow threesome who were behind a twosome - just didn't feel like pressing/passing, so just hung back. The twosome following me never had to wait long for me. My round was complete in ~4 hours. As usual, service was friendly and courteous. Before my round, I hit a small bucket on the all grass range; always a nice feature of El Prado. Practice greens (there are 3) were representative of the greens on the course. Playing from the blue tees (6850 yards/72.5 course rating/126 slope rating), I walked and had ample opportunity to observe the course conditions. For my part, I was pleased with the overall conditions of this course. Tee boxes were level, maintained with lush turf covering all of the teeing grounds. They had been freshly mowed, providing those nice alignment stripes that look so cool on TV; except they weren't that neatly groomed. Fine enough for this municiple course. Rough, especially between the tee boxes and the start of the fairway displayed the weakest aspect of the course conditions on this day. Many of these intermediate areas were virtually barren - bare dirt, with burrows, and scattered weeds. Rough on left and right sides of the fairways was the typical stuff here; variable depending on where you find your ball. It could be pristine, ball up, or bare dirt, or clumps, or burrows - it's all there. The fullest and deepest rough was found outside the aprons surrounding each green. Fairways were in good shape overall, with a few thin areas noted here and there. Generally, lush turf (just mowed, so there were lots of clippings in all fairways. Essentially every ball in fairway sat up. Bunkers appeared to have been recently maintained. The only bunker from which I had to play was greenside, and it exhibited clean, brown sand that allowed for a fine shallow blast shot. The greens were the highlight of the course. They all were covered in fine turf, with smooth surfaces. Well struck shots did the drop and stop within a couple feet. Beside my own, I only needed to repair a few ball marks. Putts rolled at mediumish speeds, and were true - I sank a 42 footer for birdie on the #1 handicap 8th hole. Most greens had very nicely cut, smooth collars, from which it was easy to chip or putt. El Prado needs some love - give them your business if you are looking for some no frills golf.

Whenever I'm looking for good basic, inexpensive golf, I think of the El Prado courses. Customer service is always great, senior price makes it very affordable, and never have an issue getting out early. Course was about as expected. Greens being the best part of the course as usual. Most of the fairways had plenty of grass, although there are some areas which need attention The rough is "hit or miss" you never know what kind of lie you'll find. Only in one bunker and it was a bit thin, but well raked. Living in south Orange County, I sure wish we had some of these old style, walkable, affordable golf courses. A perfect fall morning, a bit chilly at the start, but warmed up quickly. Gotta love living in Southern California this time of year

9/30 using teeoff $21 deal time special 958 tee time arrived 850 quick warm up and off to the 1st tee with the pro shops blessing--no waiting until last 4 holes for a 3hr POP.
Fairways lush rather soft so not much roll--grass has thick blades was cut down so the ball sat nicely with good cushion underneath--consistently good lies from the fairway.
Rough about an inch in length along fairways about 10 feet wide then deeper in some places further from the fairway or past the rough in some areas nothing but weeds and dirt.
Tees level mostly with good cover some a little thin but ok for teeing up. Par 3s looked ok.
In 1 greenside bunker which had nicely compacted fine sand recently groomed. In passing others looked to be in ok shape.
Greens were in good shape rolling smooth medium fast and were consistent thru the round.
Friendly staff--nice relaxed attitude-- drink cart making the rounds. An enjoyable outing over all. Only minor irritant was the gnats--probably due to the course being able to use adequate water--wear glasses when riding and learn to concentrate with buzzing in your ears and spots in front of your eyes.
