Teeboxes were decent, very playable and level. Found one trap and it was just fine as well. Overall, the courses looked great and played really well. Definetely worth going down there right now. Shout out to fellow GKers that I just so happened to meet down there by chance, Sixpez and Nickesquire. Too funny, I was sitting at the bar with my buds and these guys saw my GKer hat and said hello. Played all 3 nines with Sixpez for $74 including a cart on Sat. 4/18. Sunny, mid 70's, windy to very windy conditions, with beautiful views of the Pacific. First, I'll start with comments that apply to all 27 holes. The greens were smooth, receptive to holding approach shots but were medium slow. They putted true and rolled nice. However, we were both short more often than not on putts. The tees, fairways and rough were all in good condition. Good coverage, not lush but very playable. I was not in a greenside trap AD, but they did not look that great. More brown dirt than sand, but they had been recently raked. I would presume it would be impossible to keep fine sand in them because of the windy conditions. I was in a couple of fairway bunkers, hard packed brown dirt, good to hit longer shots out of. The local rule is that the barranca is played as a red hazard. It's a combination of lava rocks, thick sage bushes and occasional areas that you may be able to play a wayward shot if you can find it. 50-50 if you will find your ball, but 75% chance you cannot play it even if you find it. The Lagos 9 was a really good 9 holes of golf. It is farthest from the ocean, so no holes run directly along the coast and you have more of a desert course feel. Some blind shots and course knowledge would be beneficial. Hole #1 is a straight 433 yard par 5 from the blues, which sounds like a joke yardage wise. I presume the prevailing wind is the reason it is that short, because it plays well over 500 yards with a 25+ mph wind in your face. Par 35, three par 3's, two par 5's. The 2nd two par 3's, holes 5 & 9 were not rated that way, but they were the two hardest holes on this 9 in the wind we faced with water just off the green on multiple sides. The Oceano 9 is the star of the complex. Four holes running directly beside the Pacific, it is Pebble Beach or Spyglass south of the border. Several more holes with awesome views. I doubt you would ever play this 9 w/o it being windy to very windy. Only one par 5 and one par 3, seven par 4's. Common theme is ocean right, barranca left, so better be accurate! The Vista 9 was the most protected from the wind. Two different short par 3's that you tee off downhill to a green that has the Pacific as your backdrop. Probably slightly better than the Lagos 9 if I had to pick, but both were very good 9's. This course would be a bear to walk, several tees were a LONG ways from the last green, especially as you changed 9's. Overall, highly recommended, even with the challenges of playing south of the border.

Bajamar was the site of our GK Cup match today. What's funny is as we were waiting for our lunch in the bar before the round, I noticed a guy next to me with a familiar phrase on the back of his hat "Know Before You Go." Turned out to be divotnjay, who was there along with his own buddies. Small world! We had a 1:00 tee time, but lunch service was really slow and the pro shop was very unorganized. There was a bit of a rush at 1:00 because that's when the rates go down the $74 mid-day rate. We got checked in and set up on the cart. It was probably closer to 1:30 by the time Nickesquire and I teed off on the Lagos nine, but we played without anyone in front or behind. We then made the turn to Oceano, which obviously gets the most play. Ultimately, we caught up to a really slow group and the last four holes ground to a halt. Once we finished there, we went straight over to squeeze a bonus nine in on Vista and round out the full 27. Nobody was on Vista, so we cruised through easily there. Overall, the course was in pretty solid condition. It's far from pristine, nor is it super lush/green, but plenty playable and consistent throughout tees, fairways and rough. Fairways kind of a mix of kikuyu and bermuda cut down tight, but I almost always had a nice lie. Bunkers were not good. They had a lot of pebbles in them and the ones I found were all very firm on top. The greens were mostly in nice shape, rolling a tad slow for our tastes. Some were very soft and spongy. Others were definitely more firm. It wasn't always easy to know what to expect when hitting approaches. Any issues with the conditions are easy to overlook when you have such a magnificent setting for a course and three great nine-hole layouts. Oceano is of course the star with the stunning holes running along the cliffs with massive waves crashing on the rocks below (I should mention it was very windy this afternoon). It definitely reminded me of Bandon at times and Pebble at others. Vista also offers a few nice views (I loved the aesthetic presentation of both par-3s on this nine) and reminded me a lot of Trump National. Lagos is the least memorable of the three, but still really enjoyable on all levels. So glad I finally made my way down to Mexico to check out Bajamar. It is very much worth the trip and the afternoon rate is beyond reasonable for such a memorable golf experience. Also, you can get a "fast pass" from the resort that should make crossing back over the border easier. Unfortunately, we wouldn't know as we missed the well-hidden turn-off amidst the chaos there and were stuck in the "regular" crossing section that took 2 hours. I guess we got some more "culture" that way, along with some really delicious churros while waiting!!!

Played Sunday 11/16. This was the second of 2 courses played over a Mexico weekend golf trip. The first was Real Del Mar closer to Tijuana and not worth the trip across the border and mostly has and un maintained executive feel to it. Bajamar was a first rate experience and in great condition with smooth fast greens, lush fairways with defined cuts of rough. We played the vista and ocean 9's. Layout was fantastic with interesting holes and amazing views. Vista plays up on the cliffs with trump like ocean views. The ocean nine drops down to the waters edge and plays next to the rocky shoreline. This part of the course starts out with a 160 yrd shot over the shoreline and water that can only rival hole 7 at pebble. Amazing experience. Then the next 4 or 5 holes follow the shoreline with straight forward holes that feel nothing but spectacular due to the views. The pace was set by us as there was no one in sight for most of the day. Overall, one of the best golf experiences i have ever had.

Played on Saturday 8/23/14 with a noon starting time. They were OUT of carts so we were delayed an hour. Once we got started one cart didn't,t make it to the first green! Once started again we had to turned our carts in after 9 holes for new ones to finish. What a pain.... The course was in pretty good shape overall except the bunkers (watered down mud). Pace was great at 4 hours and the border crossing on Sunday was 30 minutes. Always a great time with friends here and you can always expect to experience some glitches....after all "it's Mexico"!!!!

There are only two options for golf in the Tijuana/Rosarito area. The Tijuana CC and Bajamar. Real Del Mar really let itself go so I don't consider that course any longer. I do enjoy playing Bajamar since it closely resembles Torrey Pines. Torrey is tough to get a tee time at the last minute so I don't mind driving the hour South across the border. It also helps if you have a sentri card to expedite the border wait. Try Tanpanco steak house in Rosarito after golf. It's really good. Anyway, Bajamar is great to play but only during the week. The weekend is usually packed and if there is a tournament, it's impossible to get in a round in less than 5hrs. Finding a marshall to increase the pace is virtually non-existent. UT San Diego use to have specials for the week but I have not seen the coupon lately. **Note when they have specials, they will only accept the original coupon, no copies. My only frustration are the tee times. You make a reservation but they do not honor it when you arrive! The facility is on a first come first serve basis. You get stacked up behind the walk ups! This is not a problem during the week, thus my recommendation to play M-Thurs only. Other than that, the crew is nice and the course is in decent shape. It also looks like they are planning to put a live concert venue on the Oceana course #18. Will see how that plays out later....

Played 4/21/14. I play Bajamar about once a month, and really enjoy it. The guys I play with are not "Speed golfers". We are high handicappers so Bajamar is perfect.

Customer service: The staff is friendly and accomodating. If you play around breakfast or lunch, just order in the restaurant, then they deliver to you on the course.

The cart girl, Maria, is really friendly and outgoing. Play more than once and she's VERY friendly.

The course...: Bajamar has 3 courses... Lagos, Vista, & Oceano. It seems they like to put you on Oceano first, then Vista or Lagos. We generally play Lagos or Vista first then Oceano last because it's so beautiful. The course is in good condition, (except for traps which are dirt), and you always feel that it's all yours. Having played it a couple of dozen times now, I never have had a group in front, or behind experiencing any kind of pressure.

The rates are OK, but there is a coupon every Tuesday in the San Diego U-T newspaper for $51 which is a great rate for this course.

Played on Saturday 6/29/2013. Course is in fair to good condition. The fairways could use more watering as there are many browning and thin areas with multiple types of grass noted. Generally, however, there was good grass under the ball for most shots. Think of a championship caliber course that would need a few weeks to bring up to tournament condition. Greens were in good condition with few bumps and putts holding the line quite well. The experience was thoroughly enjoyable. There are three 9 hole layouts. I played the Vista/Oceano combo. The Oceano 9 has 4 holes right along the ocean - big slices are lost to Poseidon. Finished in just over 3 hours as we only saw two other groups on the course the whole round. The rate is $94 which seems high – would explain the lack of golfers on the courses. I would very much recommend playing Bajamar as the total ambiance is wonderful and the course is fun and a good test of golf.

Played here back in February but thought I should mention want an awesome place this is. Hopefully more peeps from SoCal will get down there.

Went down with 15 friends and did it up pretty good. All three 9's are fantastic but the Ocean 9 is their claim to fame. Bring your camera, you'll be snapping a ton of photos. All were in above average muni condition, I would assume they are the same if not better now. Perfect place to go down with friends, beers are cheap, $9 carne asada tacos at the turn, and great service. Don't expect the Ritz for accomodations but for a group of guys they are perfectly fine. Paid $125 each for golf/accomodations, breakfast, and welcome cocktail. Played an extra round at $65.

The pro down there set us up and put up with some of my friends who will never break 100 and were basically there for the beer. Bobcats are all over the place, even witnessed one scoop up a duck on the practice green while eating breakfast.

Get down there if you can. Roads are great and safe. Bajamar even gives you a pass to get back across the border, takes the border line from 2 hours to 15 minutes, sweet!
