Played on Sunday 4/21 around 1PM. I'll have to say that the greens are in extremely good shape considering how recently they punched them. They used those smaller punch holes with a wider pattern and did not appear to sand them. Overall the course is playing very similar to how it was before the maintenance. Tee boxes are good, fairways are firm and fairly fast but also have good turf coverage, rough is minimal (maybe 1-1.5") and generally without pockets or dry patches and the sand is plush in the bunkers I and my playing partners found. Greens were still on the firm side but definitely held well struck shots. My approach shots from around 100 yards out in the fairway would take one big hop and then stop. The greens are slower than they were a couple of weeks ago but I'd still rate them just a little past medium speed and very consistent from green to green. Pace of play was typically slow for this course on the weekends, about 4 3/4 hours. I guess you can't have it all. I never grow tired of this course, it has the scenery, a sporty layout, good conditioning and it is extremely walkable. Although most people would consider this an 'easy' golf course, I find it difficult to score on. There is enough nuance to the course to keep you constantly challenged.

Had a great day at Coronado today except for the greens, VERY FIRM and you better not be above the hole, very fast downhill. Fairways better than average for winter golf. Traps had plenty of sand. Pace of play was at 4 hours.

Played Coronado this week during twilight times. Still the best deal in town.
It is amazing how good the conditions are at Coronado. Especially, given the amount of play. I played with a Superintendent from a high end East Coast country club, and he said the the greens are as good as his greens get at their best. They are fast and true. And the fairways are very lush for this time of year.

They are in the process working on many of the bunkers and are filling many of them with new sand. I do wish that they would prepare the bunkers better by building up the base. Right now, it's just heavy deep sand filled to the brim. The superintendent who I played with said that bunker maintenance is one of his most expensive costs, second only to greens. I expect that the rains should help pack them down a little.

Coronado continues to impress me as the kind of course you never get tired of and can play on a regular basis.

Played last Saturday and I got there pretty early to put my name on the list as a single and it took 2 1/2 hours to get on (I think I was 4th or 5th on the wait list). Even though the greens didn't look great they putt great. This was probably the fastest I can remember these greens being and firm. There were some ball marks on most greens which I'd expect here considering the amount of play and laziness of some of the golfers. The greens were certainly the best part of the course. Everything else was not very good. I really couldn't tell you where the fairway ended and the rough begins. Usually the grass in the rough is a little more up by the greens but not last week. The browness of the fairways didn't bother me as much as the inconsistency of the grass itself. I found myself in three bunkers and 2 were plugged lies. Sand was decent, it had the appearance of being wet. The bunkers however were not raked at all. I seemed like I was playing out of some kid's sandbox. Sure it's only $35 and everyone and then some seem to play here but the conditions left something to be desired.

Decided to come out today as a single and it was pretty busy here. Took a little over 1 1/2 hours to get on as a single. Wind did pick up on the back side a bit but the weather couldn't have been better. I would say the greens were a bit of a let down. Some of them had way to much sand on them. The practice green was deceiving because it didn't have that much so I didn't think much of it but some of the greens were worse than others. I think once this is gone the greens would be pretty smooth since some of the ones with less sand seemed to roll pretty decent. Fairways had some rough spots and other parts were decent. There was random effects of aeration in odd spots. The course did indicate that they are not doing the fall maintenance so may they are just doing spots here and there. There were some burned out areas our there. The rough was non-existent but I think that is the norm here. There are some patches of rough which is really thick (right side of the 12th comes to mind) but for the most part you won't be penalized. Staff was pretty cool, the marshal was out there quite a bit making sure pace was tracking. I have seen the course in better shape but hey it's only $35.

Played here a week ago. Can't beat the price. Great views and atmosphere on the course. Everything in pretty good shape. Bunkers were a little inconsistent but not bad. The cart girl was friendly and came around a few times, but other than her, the service was terrible. Really the worst I've ever experienced at a course. I was constantly ignored by staff. Felt like I was inconveniencing them while they were speaking with friends. Starter wouldn't let us tee off even though the group in front of us was already onto the next hole and it was already 15 minutes past our tee time. Woman working concession stand had no idea what she had in stock and would charge you for an item and then fight not to give you a refund when she realized she no longer had it available. Course was easy. Resort golf vibe, but with bad service and not as good of conditions. Took about 5 and 1/2 hours. A good place to take an out of town friend who wants to play on the water, but definitely will not be added to my rotation.

Played here for the first time on 8/17 (at 8 AM) and really enjoyed the day. The fairways are in great condition. The rough was fair. Greens are smooth, medium fast and holding with very few ball marks. Traps had plenty of sand and they were raked. Local knowledge is very helpful. Pace of play was good at 4 1/2 hrs. The course tho not very challenging was fun to play! Definitely will go back.
