Played there with the poster below. One of the wrost courses played by far! we thought that the 45 dollar green fee was a steal, but we were wrong. the conditions were pretty bad. The fairway was dried out and had barely and grass left. Could see that this course may have been nice.Until you get confirmation from pala mesa that the conditions are good DO NOT PLAY HERE!!!!!!

Played Pala Mesa yesterday. The last two reviews are right on, fairways are completely yellow while the greens, though at least the traditional GREEN color, are quite bumpy. The course was at least pretty empty though that could have been because of the Buick Invitational going on a couple miles down. Also, the course's carts have no GPS system. My golf partners mentioned that Redhawk would probably be the better option at this point if you are going to drive from LA to SD for some golf.

This course has been let go. The Fairways have not been seeded for winter and the course looked terrible. Not worth the Drive or my time to play it. Will not go back!!!!!!! Talk to the attendent and they said that the course manager made a dicission not to seed the fairways poor call.

After playing 12/30 at 12:21 twilight rate, I couldn't believe any of the previous comments. Must be another Pala Mesa around - the course I played was HORRIBLE. Started with a booked Golfnow rate as a single, followed by an elderly starter who simply forgot I had checked in and let other threesomes go off until I reminded him " oh yeah, you can join them". Pace of play was so slow, with a shotgun tournament interspersed, and resort guests all apparently just learning the game from the blue and black tees. Had to quit after 11 holes and 3 1/2 hours with a guarantee of two groups waiting at each tee box staring me in the face. No marshal doing anything, just kid employees just drag racing their golf carts around. As for the course - their course super had notes at the pro shop explaining their problems - they had numerous completely browned out fairways, worse than any muni I've ever played on. And there was no reduction in course fees. The greens were in excellent condition, very fast, but the pin placements on the heavily sloped greens guaranteed a heavy penalty for not stroking the perfect roll on each green - particularly #2 which sits high on the hill side and entirely slopes down towards the freeway. The lush flowers seen on course photos were barely seen, ?seasonal. All in all, a terrible day on the course, which is a rarity for me to say. The Pala super should be embarassed to keep the course open with the fairways in such condition, and service for non-resort guests should be improved.

WOW, a true Golf Course. You need to drive straight, smack a great 2nd shot, and putt like a pro to score well on this tight tree lined course. But the views are worth the ride. Great pace. Was held up maybe twice and never pushed. Feels good to take your time. I'll be back!!

Have not played here since 1994. Didn't remember the course as being as pretty as it was. (A beautiful autumn day with bright sunshine, green fairways, leaves tuning color, etc) The fairways appear to have recently been overseeded and were very lush, so the course played LONG! Since I always walk, it was not a problem that carts are restricted to the path, but that's the rule, at least for now. Course was in great condition!! Greens were very true, so I can't blame condition for not being able to make any putts! Tee'd off a little after 6am and finished a little after 8:30am, twosome, just my wife and I walking. just like a walk in the park. I recommend this place for a nice autumn experience on the links.

Played at 7:00 am on 10/8 (sunday). Pace of play was great. We were 4th off and everyone was making great time. There is no GPS on the carts any longer, which is just as well given how unaccurate they used to be. It's tough to find distance markers, so I suggest you bring a range finder.

The fairways have been thatched and overseeded and the rye is still not fully in. So, you will find yourseld with some bad lies on hard pan. The aprons around the green are pretty rough, but the greens were in very good condition. They will begin punching the greens over the next 2 weeks. I imagine that by the time the greens recover, the fairways should be back in pretty good shape.
