Went to Pala Mesa Resort on a special unlimited golf package of $159/person. Very nice place to stay. We had some showers at the begining of first few holes but stopped rest of the rounds. Due to rain, there was nobody in the goal course on Saturday. Our two groups almost own the goal course. We had GREAT time. Goal course was Great. Fairways are good. Their roughs are lush and bit hard to get out. Due to rain, greens are bit soft and medium speed. Still greens are great. Once the greens are dry up, they should be fast and firm. Everything was great on Saturday. Sunday was bit crowded due to tournaments and one stupid group stop playing when we had short shower. Then once cleared, they just returned and cut in line and hold three groups up. Marshall tried his very best to control the situation but we had to wait 15-30 minutes on few holes to clear the traffic jam.
Overall, our groups had Great Time. Thumbs Up!

Few warnings, their GPS system does not work and heaters in our rooms didn't work at all. However, services were overall good.

What a shame. Since this course got it's new greenskeeper it has gone down hill. If you've played here in the past, don't expect the same course again.

i've played here about 5 times now. the unlimited golf package is worth the price. only thing is that the course condition wasn't the best. the greens were excellent, but the tee boxes and fairways were about the same as some public courses i've played on. friendly staff great weekend get away.

Greens were in good shape when we played during the thanksgiving weekend, even though it was hard to read. Overall condition was less desirable compared to our play last year. But still a good & fun... Continue »

Greens were in good shape when we played during the thanksgiving weekend, even though it was hard to read. Overall condition was less desirable compared to our play last year. But still a good & fun stay. The shotgun they had on thanksgiving day was very organized.

I agree with dcirush that the greens were awful a few months ago - they were diseased and pretty sad looking. Playing today, though, I was pleasantly surprised that they seem to have things turned in... Continue »

I agree with dcirush that the greens were awful a few months ago - they were diseased and pretty sad looking. Playing today, though, I was pleasantly surprised that they seem to have things turned in the right direction - the greens have filled in and though they aren't as pristine as they once were, they are definitely on the right track. They still have some issues with their GPS programming with the switching of the nines, but overall, I was happy to see today that the greens are headed in the right direction.

I've played this course maybe a dozen times over the last four years and this is the worst condition I've ever seen it. A majority of the greens were full of dead spots with craters like those you'd expect to find on the moon. On a few holes, half the green was roped off as ground under repair. #1 on the "South" course (they don't go by front or back anymore, but rather North and South--lame cuz gps still refers to holes by their number so #1 on "south" is #10 overall on gps except the gps never had the right hole description or tips for the right hole--it many times would say the hole number, but the map and description wasn't for the hole we were on). I digress....#1 on South course, nice long uphill par 5, had a temp green about 250 yards up the fairway. No notice of that from pro shop. I'd be ticked if I were a hotel guest and paying big $ to stay and play. We played at half off with golf extra. I'd go back, but only if I was certain the greens were in acceptable condition. One position; starter was awesome! We arrived way early and they got us out earlier than our tee time. He also made a nice introduction to the course and gave us some tips, such as every approach shot plays uphill (they do).

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but Pala Mesa is dealing with some serious issues right now on the greens. They were lumpy, splotchy, and some areas looked to be ravaged by fungus. It's a shame, because Pala usually has great surfaces. The course overall is in average shape...not so bad that you won't enjoy yourself, but the greens certainly leave a lot to be desired. I hope they can get their act together for next season.

Pala Mesa is in excellent shape right now. Smooth and Fast greens! We played over the weekend. Fun course! Challenging but won’t beat you up. I’ll be back.
