Played here today with 32 others. It's funny, it has been over a month since the last review and condition are the same. Please look at the last two reviews for currents conditions here. The greens were the highlight for sure. Quick, challenging, and smooth. Very fun to putt but I will add one thing....there is a fungus coming through on some greens with visual spotting. They told me they cannot treat this because of the saturated greens. It didn't effect the putts at all but just looks funny. Conditions can be much better but the course is still fun and challenging to play.i heard the resort was bought recently by the Hilton chain and plans are being made to upgrade the resort. Not sure if it is true but if it is I think it would be welcomed.

As Gary00 mentioned, played today 2/18 on a brisk/sunny day with semi-variable weather conditions. First time playing Pala Mesa after having driven past it hundreds of times and was glad to get out on a weekday, meet a new GK member, and check another course off the list. Conditions were about as expected after heavier rains in the last week, including some heavy downpours the night before. The layout was a mix of Mission Trails and Shadowridge CC; tighter on the front, a bit more open on the back with houses around. Gary gave a good summary so I’ll just add a bit to it.

Tee boxes: As mentioned, they were okay, some better than others but nothing that was so egregious that it warrants a negative mark.

Fairways: A mixed bag as some were muddy and murky messes that required the lift, clean, replace tactic just to have an enjoyable round. A few fairways seemed untouched by rain, however as mentioned, very little roll and lies weren’t always pleasant.

Rough: Varied in its condition and length. I specifically remember being past the 9th green and finding rough equivalent to Torrey. Other holes had rough that was anything but, overall with the rains and rough length, it behooved anyone to stay on the fairways.

Bunkers: Plenty of sand on the course, however, the rains took their toll on just about every bunker! Some had inches of water and sand that was clean enough to hit from was packed and difficult to get those sand saves.

Greens: As Gary mentioned, the highlight of the round. They were smooth, quick, and sloped at times enough to make you scratch your head.

ETC: Carts has great GPS with Shark software that allowed your phone to easily hookup its Bluetooth; a nice touch. Staff was very friendly and food at the turn was fast and delicious (nothing like a freshly-made sandwich from a lovely person). Pace was slow at first and sped up as the round went on, even as our group in front slowed down; perplexing, but nice to not hit the 5 hour mark! Don’t think I’d go out of my way to play here again, but glad to get to play and make a new friend.

2/18 using GSC $90 2 some playing with GKr sbarajasjr(Sal) on a rather cool 10am start. POP about 440 following a 4some that ended up about a hole behind through the last 7-8 holes. Originally we were going to have a team match but that did not come to pass so Sal and I decided to tee it up anyway--glad we did--neither of us played very well but we did enjoy each others company. 1st time playing together and Sal's 1st at Pala.
Fairways were soft with little roll and were marginal what with winter conditions and flow patterns from the recent rains leaving mostly thin lies in the fairway proper. Rough was patchy
with some juicy areas that were quite punitive. Tees were ok. Bunkers had not yet been groomed so were packed wet sand and often containing significant standing water. Even though we had agreed to "rake and place" the challenge was way over my skill level.
Aside from my playing partner the highlight of the round were the greens--medium fast and FAST from above the hole--smooth and consistent through the round.

this a first class resort with a very nice course...not overlly long(6600 from the tips)but in really good shape.Greens were large with some undulation/ bunkers were like just about like every other so cal course...just a couple of inches of sand but well maintained...fairways were nice(not carpeting) but never had a bad lie all day..rough was hit or miss...lots of trees ..I normally play Carlton oaks/Sycuan oak glen and now I'm adding Pala Mesa to this grouping..highly recommend!

It was the second round of the day having played earlier with Jonny, Ron and Gus at Omni that morning.

I had never played here before, was not sure what to expect. Only $29, it was a quick round. Had allot of fun here, worth the green fee and then some. Great service at the pro shop, and cart return.

Greens were in great shape, hard to read at times, but it made it a good challenge.
Fairways were good, no bare spots, some thin areas but no problem at all.
Tee Boxes are good, some were a little beat up but nothing to complain about.
POP was great till the last 3 holes were some folks killed the pace with the 8 players, 1 doubling as a photographer.

Looking forward to playing here again later in the year, good views and a mix of narrow and wide fairways. Very solid place to play.

They did apologize on the 18th tee but still didnt let us through!
The course wasn't as narrow as I had imagined. The 3rd hole is the narrowest on the course and also the hardest. However there's plenty of room on the right in the 6th fairway! The 3,4,5,6 holes are very close together. I can see a traffic jam on busy days. The par 3 7th was very pretty. The 8th and 9th open up with ob to the left, only a real bad hook can get you there. The back 9 was great. It had more elevation and the houses were farther away from course. The course is in great shape, it is well manicured and very scenic and quiet
The freeway noise is minimal and you only hear it the 8,9, 11 holes. The fairways were great. The collar of the green was perfect, the greens perfect. The sand was some of the best sand I've been in. Very very fluffy!! The staff was friendly. I would definitely drive out there again! It's definitely a hidden gem in plain sight!!

Had been a long time since i’d played here. Pace of play was pretty slow, but it was a Saturday. Overall the course was in good shape and was enjoyable. Would definitely play again.

Played here for the first time since they punched the greens in early Oct. I was VERY disappointed with the condition of the greens. Most of the punched holes have disappeared but the greens are VERY SLOW. Looks like they haven't been cut in a few days. The practice green is much faster.

Fairways: a few too many unfilled divots, other wise OK. They have roped off the last 50-75 yards to the green and have over seeded so the grass is much longer.

Rough: playable, 1-3" high.

Traps: OK, raked but firm.

POP: 4 1/2 hours.

I would not recommend till the greens are better. Maybe another two weeks.
