Teed off at 1230, finished at 350. Great for a Saturday afternoon. Got a little rain, but was fine to play in. Really enjoyed the course layout and it was in pretty good condition. Greens were a bit marked up and lots of fresh ball marks (please repair!), but generally rolled true. Would definitely play again...especially at the $24 rate we got on GolfNow.

I have played this course on a few occasions and pace of play is a serious problem. Our round today on a weekday in early February took over five hours. We saw a marshall on the 12th hole who advised us that pace would speed up soon. Despite this assurance, the back nine took two hours and forty five minutes, with as many as four groups on a single hole at a time. Previous rounds were also characterized by backups, slow play, and lack of monitoring by marshalls.

The starter could benefit from a refresher in golf etiquette or better still transfer to some other job like picking up range balls. He had a loud conversation going on with his cell phone and did little to show awareness of any potential that it was annoying and intrusive.

I won't be returning again to this course. The overall conditioning and design of the course cannot make up for how poorly it is run, the rude behavior of the starter, and the pace of play problems that extend to a few rounds on weekdays over a few months.

The low cost can't offset these problems and does not justify playing at this facility under even lower rates.

I had never played this course, so I was not expecting much. The front nine and back nine are completly different. The front nine is kind of what I was expecting, however the back nine was amazing. The layout to the conditions were perfect on the back nine. This course is really enjoyable to play and I plan on making it one of my regular stops.

Played for the first time on Sat 11-21. Had read a lot of good reviews. I was very disappointed at the conditions of the course and the 5 3/4 hour round, starting time 9:30. First lets start with the conditions. Fairways wet and muddy, had to move my ball on maybe 12 fairways. Greens were in very poor condition, including many unrepaired ballmarks. Tee boxes ok, no problem there. Overall a very well laid out course, very challenging from tee to green, but obvious poor course conditions along with a very long day, adds up not playing here until they correct these problems.

Bunkers are white sand, very good looking. Greens are fast and hold shots. They were punching the tee boxes, they will be great in a week or 2. Fairways were a little shaggy, but that is due to being punched next week. This is a fun, sometimes tough test. Wish it was closer to my house.

LOVED THIS COURSE. So much so that I went back to play it 2 more times, i.e. 3 weeks in a row. Having come from Orlando where there is an abundance of good, affordable golf, to San Diego where course expensive and severely lacking in design and condition, I had become very disillusioned at finding a course to play other than Torrey. It was so bad that I played Torrey 30/33 weeks (now I play it once every 6... thanks to the rate hike). I was looking for other courses to play, with no luck. The ones I played were either in not good shape, or had really questionable designs. Someone suggested I try Woods Valley. Its a trip from where I live, but WORTH EVERY MILE.

Greens are the best I have played in San Diego. They are Tiff Eagle/Bent, I don't know.... I do know they are not Pao Annou. They are medium firmness, so you don't suck the ball off the green every shot (like Torrey North). They roll very true.

I was told the course was recently taken over, and the new owner is putting some serious money in it. The first time I played it, the fairways were dry. The other 2 times, they were cart path only, since they had been watered to the point of producing mud balls. This is only an issue on some holes.

Where this course really shines is Design. It is bar none, the best designed course I have played in San Diego. There are holes that require thought (make sure you hit left with your tee ball on 13). There are holes that offer risk/reward. I hit 4 rescue on the 7th the first 2 times I played it, but on my last round, I hit driver over the corner. The 10th is and intimidating drive from the tips. 11 is a BEAST (when played as a par 4). The par 3's are a challenge, with water on 3 of the 4. The par 5's are not pushovers. Better take advantage of #2, because there are only 3 par 5's, and 9 and 18 can bite you if you go left or right.

The course is very walkable, except for getting from the 15th green to the 16th tee. Pace of play is excellent. When I played, it was $55 including cart and free lunch (limited time offer on the lunch), for a 8AM tee time. I expect play on this course to pick up because of word of mouth. I urge you to play the course. I know you will like it.

The greens were recently punched, so they were not as pure as I'd hoped, but considering it had only been 1 week, they were still very puttable. The fairways however are not good!. I assume they are getting reacdy to overseed, which might explain the deplorable condition. If that's not the case, then their condition is unforgiveable. Enjoy the contrasting nines - prefer the back side however!

Played the course today Aug 18th. The course was wide open and played 36 holes. Front nine is in ok condition. The greens were a little soft. They putted true except for all the ball marks. This course does not get the play to have so many ball marks. The back nine greens were terrible. The course itself is a little mickey mouse with a lot of course knowledge needed to get around with a good score.
