Played Buena with a great group of golfers -
Rgm2525, Longball23 and JohnnyGK. The wind was howling but the golf was still fun. I didnt play that well but it had nothing to do with the course. (Well maybe the wind) -

the course is in really good condition. Played from the Black tees and the tee boxes were level - there were a couple of three par tees that needed a little work (divots) but nothing drastic.
The fairways were awesome - brand new and looking good. They are going to be real good in a couple of months - right now you dont get that much roll.
Greens were in good shape - please fix your divots. They rolled slow for me but tricky.

The course plays very well. It is a very enjoyable course to walk or ride. It will require a lot of different shots and test your green reading skills. This course was built to have fun and you will enjoy it.

Had a very enjoyable round today with JohnnyGK, Robstretch and RGM2525..played black tees with very tough windy conditions off at 2pm. Pace of play was 4 hours 20 minutes behind several packed in twilight groups. Conditions for Buena were very good. They have resurfaced 8 fairways here and you can tell. Fairways were thick, lush and green with very little roll. Very nice shape Buena good job. Tee boxes were lush and level for the most part and you could always find a flat spot to tee your rock up on. Was not in any of the bunkers but they looked beautiful with soft white sand and in good shape. Rough was anywhere from 1-2 inches thick and in good shape. The greens held like darts and were medium paced to slow for this golfers taste. They rolled decent and had a lot of old pitch marks. Our group must have fixed 5-10 extra pitch marks a hole. Starter was very friendly. No driving range here just a practice net and putting green. The rates are a good deal for twilight and their sister course Olivas will sometimes have combined specials. These Ventura courses in the afternoon are a nice test if you want to work on your wind game. I would recommend this course based on current conditions.

Played @ 1130A on 1/2/12, typical holiday pace, waited on practically every shot all 18 holes.

Sadly, this is probably the worst condition I have ever seen Buena in. The greens were unanimously chewed up with both ball/spike marks and a few had so much coot dung that you had to clear a path on your putts.

Numerous fairway sections need attention. For a flat course,there were several sections that were soggy/waterlogged, yet MANY sections were downright hard pan. Tough to chip around many holes with nothing but hard pan lies short of most greens. Numerous tee boxes seemed more chewed up that you would expect.

The rough was the best part of the course today, definitely your best chance @ a good lie.

Played Buena this morning 1/2/12 at 11:30am with Nickesquire1 and another one of my buddies. Course conditions were not very good. Dry fairways and brown, some wet spots with mud. Chipping areas soggy and muddy. Some tees un-level and thin. Greens for the most part would hold shots but putted just average. Probably the worst I have seen the course. I would wait some to play here again, maybe just a summer conditioned course? A good course to work on your iron game and shape your tee shots around tree-line fairways and several doglegs. Staff inside the pro-shop friendly....but still not worth the 21 bucks we payed today.

Played on 11/13 with a late morning tee time. We were able to complete a round in under 4 hours. Maybe the rain the day before kept golfers away.

The course conditions were fair. The tee boxes had decent coverage for this time of year. The fairways were at times lush and in some areas had lots of bare spots, mud and major divots. Hole number 10 had the worst fairway conditions. Fairway on this hole was very bumpy, had so many bare spots, and lots of mud in other areas. The other fairways were not as bad as hole #10.

The sand in the bunkers were great. Was not expecting to be nice and fluffy after the rains on Saturday. Greens were fair. Greens had areas with a lot of unrepaired ball marks and were bumpy in spots. Green speed at times were slow and at other times were fast.

Overall the course is playable for this time of year. Carts have no GPS. You have a choice of four tees depending on your skill level. There is no driving range here. Like playing here since this course has a number of challenges with water on several holes.

First time out @ Buena in close to a year, great Monday afternoon rate of $14 to walk twilight. Overall, course conditions were good, only negative was that the greens were a tad slow and bumpy in the afternoon. Traps were excellent and I hit enough to have a good sampling. Fairways, Tees, rough etc. were all good but not great. fairly challenging, shorter layout, especially when the wind blows.

Played BuenaVentura yesterday 9/12 for a nice change of pace with Nickesquire1 and Robstretch...met a nice single named Stewart. You can't beat Ventura weather and for sure cannot beat $14.00 teeing off after 12 noon on a Monday with their promotion on Monday's. Course was in average shape to be kind...I would give it mostly 6's and the sand an 8 or 9. Greens were receptive, soft and had many unrepaired ballmarks(cmon people). They putted decently. Fairways were lush in I would say 60% of the areas. The other 40% could be hardpan, dirt or dried out grass. The sand was in very good shape and for the majority of bunkers here it is soft sand. The rough was anywhere from 1-2 inches thick and if you caught a bad lie it could effect your shot. Tee boxes were lush in most spots with some divot damage in others. Some of the tees were not level. Pace of play today was 4 hours 30 minutes which is slow for this shorter track. Staff in pro-shop super friendly. You need to keep the ball straight out of the treeline on the majority of holes here. For sure some birdie holes(especially on the front) with a couple of challenging holes on the back side.

Awesome group of gentlemen.

Buena is a short course that is fun to play. The wind will always be around, even when you think it is not windy, there is wind up there at this golf course.
The tee boxes where in good shape - some of the par 3 tee boxes needed some fixing but overal they where in good shape.
The fairways were decent - in the beginning stages of potential over-seeding, the course normally has beautiful fairways. They were also a little wet from maybe over watering.

Greens were decent with a lot of ball marks ( unfixed) - which led to some rolling issues. The greens were also soft so they would hold shots.

Overall Buenaventura is fun to play and will give you options to score or be frustrated. If you haven't played it, you should try it, u will enjoy it.
They had a great special going 14 bucks for 18 holes - awesome.

Greens were very bumpy today. Lots of online putts change direction all of a sudden. Lots of old unrepaired ball marks leave mini divots on the greens. Bunkers were very fluffy today, which is nice. Fairways were on and off. Ground is a bit moist, and easy to take very large divots, likewise in the rough. Tee boxes were ok, although many divots are sometimes can find a hard time to have a good footing. A nice short course, but by no means a pushover, and there is lots of trouble in typical landing areas. Probably shouldn't use driver off the tee most places, but where is the fun in that?
