Played Buena 3 consecutive days with three completely different results. The course is a nice course with trees, lush grass and very undulating greens. It rewards the straight shooter with shorter holes on 2,3,4,6 and 8 on the front nine. But for some reason I never play these holes as well as I think I should. Holes 7, 12 and 16 are all very challenging holes. Hole 5 and 14 are par 3's that can bite you with lots of water on the right side of the green. I shot 86, 94, and then a 83 in consecutive days so it's not as easy it seems. Definitely worth the money and will be back many times in the future.

I think this course is a well kept secret. For the money you won't find much better in Ventura County, IMHO. Teed off at 7am today and was done in less than 4 hours. Fairways were nice. Rough has grow... Continue »

I think this course is a well kept secret. For the money you won't find much better in Ventura County, IMHO. Teed off at 7am today and was done in less than 4 hours. Fairways were nice. Rough has grown up so you pay for it when you miss the fairway. Rolling greens that are in decent condition. I wouldn't call BV a challenge, but it's a nice "confidence course" that's fun and doesn't kick your ass for one errant shot like some other courses do.

Played twlight this afternoon with Toprank and one of his buddies. Golf course is in good shape. Fairways nice, rough up bordering many fairways. Greens have improved since last time we played here. They are firm and are rolling true. Pace of play was excellent today and the wind was not that much of a factor.

Played Twilight 7/29 w/Nickesquire1, Longball 23 and a friend of LB23, Thanks guys :D - This is a very fun layout to play, overall the course is in great condition. Some very tough holes, and some very long/hard Par 3's. Water comes into play on a number of holes and sand on almost all of them. We played behind a junior tourny and the greens were pretty beat up. Back 9 greens were in much better shape then the front 9. Completed in 4.75hrs. The tee boxes, fairways and every sand trap I hit out of (which was alot) were in great shape. I really enjoyed this round and will go back anytime. Fabulos customer service as always and great prices. Well worht the green fees.

Played twilight this afternoon 7/28/08 behind junior golf tournament. Fairways were in good shape on most holes, some new lush grass and thicker than I remember months ago. New sod on 18 in fairway will need to grow is some and they also completed tee box on #18 with new sod. Sand is always in good condition at Buena and the tee boxes were level for the most part. Rough was up around the fairways and you can be in some bad lies a few feet off the fairway. The greens were in bad shape on the front nine, bumpy, spike marks and did not roll true. They improved on the back 9, but its time for Buena to make a change for the better with these greens. Walked the tips in 4 hours 50 minutes due to the tournament in front. I also wish Buena had a driving range to warm up on. All in all a good course for a once in a while change but nothing compared to its brother Olivas Links up the street.

Played Saturday 7/12. Course was in excellent condition. The fairways were in great condition with the roughs being challenging. The only complaint would be frequent mud spots from over watering. The greens were in excellent condition being firm and fast. 18 was cut to a 60 yard hole due to new sod on the fairway while all others played full length. Keep in mind there is no range to warm up on other than two practice mats behind the pro shop. Pace of play was excellent. We were able to finish all 18 in under 4 hours.

Played today Monday 6/16 twilight. Fairways are in the best shape that I have seen in a long time. Lots of green grass and lush...really improved...sure there are a few rough patches here or there but overall you get nice lies if you are in the fairway. Greens were in good shape and were not as fast as they can be at Buena. Please fix your ballmarks people as I bent down and fixed at least 5-6 per green. Tee boxes were in good shape..some are not perfect(divots and some minor uneven stances) but for the most part in good shape. Sand is deep and nice quality. Played the course on a good day for scoring as there was not much wind and it was humid. Staff very friendly and we finished our round walking the tips in 4 hours letting 1 group play through. Give Buena a try it is in real nice condition.

Played early before the City Championship. Overall course is in great condition. Teeboxes were leveled. Fairways are looking nice. There are still some bare spots but overall they were lush. Roughs were hard since they let them go for the tourney. Traps were fluffy. The greens were excellent. Rolling pretty true. Challenging pin placements kept us entertained. Pace of play was slow but tolerable. Great course for the $$$
