Greens were soft and bumpy. Un-repaired pitch marks everywhere. Come on people they even give you a tool to fix them. Some tee boxes with divot damage.

Out late PM Aug 9th. Even considering the time and amount of play BV gets, the course simply hammered. Moreover, the conditions will remain that way until the users figure out we need to maintain the course ourselves: divot mix poured in the fairways, pitch marks repaired…after 14 holes, I surrendered… just too many of them…
Efforts to replace the rye fairway grass with Bermuda continue- albeit very slowly. #8/10 not so good. #’s 11/12/16/18 greatly improved. Still caught some muddy, thin lies in the middle of fairways…
Greens very bumpy and slow. Not in any sand but looked pretty poor- the drainage grate in trap by #5 was exposed, many were wet at 4pm?
For locals a good course to keep in the roto. Would not suggest to someone driving a long distance.

We played here for the first time today with a 1 pm tee time. It took us just under 5 hours to play 18. It was really busy for a holiday Friday. Front 9 played pretty quickly, we didn't have to wait much. The back 9 was another story. We had to wait on most of the holes on the back 9.

Course is in good shape. Tho' most of the holes had bare spots and/or areas with ground under repair. Fairways were in decent shape. Courses like Harding and Wilson back home are taking a beating with the heat. Not here. Fairways seem more lush other than the bare spots. The rough is lot more deeper than the ones back home. If you didn't see where your ball landing in the rough, it was really hard to find your ball unless you are right on top of it.

Greens were in decent shape. Tho' there were lots of unrepaired ball marks on the greens. The bunkers were nice and fluffy as we were in lots of bunkers on this course.

It's not that easy to play here with the wind we had this afternoon. It makes it lot harder to play some holes hitting into the wind. But the price was worth it. It was a lot cooler to play here than the SFV. We will be back here when it's real hot in the Valley.

Played friday(6/26/09) afternoon,tee time no problem ,around 7 pm when we finished, no one was there! (played a few extra holes).... greens were a little firm, thought they would be fast but were normal speed. some fairways were good shape some had bare spots (something the course has been trying to address) the rough is thick and deep in alot of spots so watch your ball well if you hit it off line! bunkers and sand are probably the best thing on the course! greens are a challenge because of the shape and undulations. This is not a long course and you can score well if you hit it in the fairway and putt well...best thing about it the price 20 bucks!

Played early AM with Toprank.. Buena is in nice condition as they just had the City Championship here a couple of weeks ago. Played the tips and walked it in 4 hours. Fairways and rough were in nice shape. The rough is up around the fairways and is lush and thick in most spots. The tee boxes for the most part were level and lush. The 18th fairway is in great shape as it used to be the worst fairway here. They are doing major work on the 12th fairway. The sand is very high quality. The greens were decent and did not have as many ball marks as usual which is always a good thing. The greens are holding iron shots and chips very well and are soft. They are putting slower than normal. Pro-shop staff was great......they rang us up and brought credit cards out to the 1st tee for signatures as we did not want to hear or see the TV as we were taping the US Open(lol)....now that's customer service!

I played Buenaventura this afternoon, however only the front 9 as we did the twilight, and after 2.5 hours on the front nine, my wife called and said she was making pork salad and salmon soup. The salmon soup turned out to be little plain but the pork salid was tasty.

But this is a golf website. The first thing i noticed was how good the 18th hole looks from the parking lot, the fairway and rough were well defined, and had a nice well manicured look to it. But we started on the 1st hole which was sort of ragged and not nearly as manicured looking. The rest of the front 9 was very much like this, not horrible but not that good either, just a standard issue muni. The greens were in good shape, ran true and had a little bit of speed to them. Also with all the breaks and little out of the way places to place the hole made the challenge of the round. The course is just too short, just too many wedges into too many greens.

On the third tee I decided to try to drive the green. I swung hard and pulled the ball badly to the right. It ended up near the tee on the 2nd hole. As we were walking down the fair I was an elderly couple walking off the tee. As the lady passed where I saw my ball end up, and this is important, I saw the ball stop, and knew its location, she reached down and it looked like she picked up the ball, but I could not confirm this from 270 yards away. When I got to the spot I did not see my ball, but the lady was too far away to yell to. A couple holes later I had the opportunity to ask if she picked my ball up. As English was not her first language I had to speak slowly and demonstrate to her what I saw. Her husband was not happy about this. As I figured that I was never going to get my Pro V1 back, as I left I told them that they should not steal other peoples golf balls. This provoked anger, yelling and wild gesticulation on this old mans part. I walked away as he was till yelling at me.

As we got to the 9th between the slow pace of play on a packed course and the angry old man that yelled at me, I had enough of golf, and Buenaventura for one day. $20.00 twilight for 9 holes was a lesson learned.

The greens were downright SLOW! Probably letting them grow up before they cut them down for the City Championships this coming weekend, but I've putted on fringes that were faster than these greens. The rough is thick and will grab your club and make advancing shots with more than a short iron a challenge. Tees looked nice, course was in decent shape "but for" the greens.

Played BuenaVentura twilight from the tips this afternoon 6/1. Rough is really grown in and around the fairways and greens...awesome stuff...stopped several golf balls in our group almost dead in their tracks. Tee boxes and sand were in great condition. Fairways were good in most spots and had some GIR spots marked off in several fairways. Greens were super slow for Buena and were thick. They were in decent condition and holding iron shots well with little or no release. I believe the City Championship is next weekend so they will probably be cut this week. Pro-shop staff excellent as well as bar and grill staff. Nice twilight rates at Buena. Pace of play was decent...we walked it today in 4 hours 10 minutes.
