Yesterday, I played Camarillo Springs with my buddies. Our tee time was 10:05AM and finished at 2:15PM. The golf course was not to busy and we didn’t wait for anybody.

The fairways are OK, they need a little TLC some fairways were dry and it was hard to compressed the ball. It felt like hitting from a fairway bunker. The tees need a lot help there where a few of them that weren’t level and my feet felt out balance. There were some tees that I had to position my ball a few drivers back from the tee makers in Order to get a good level area. The greens were to bumping and sandy. Bunkers are OK and they were ok to hit from. Other that we had a great round and it was fun getting out and play the game that we love. As always costumer service was friendly and welcoming. Until then get out up there and continue to kill your drive and get lots of birdies.

Got to sneak out to get a quick round in at Camarillo Springs Monday morning 8/26/19 with my buddy Matt. We teed off just before 10:00am riding coming in with a POP of just over 3 hours catching a single and playing the last 3 holes with him waiting behind the last part of the men's club. Weather was nice all day with some wind on the back nine. We had a great time! Last time out here was over a year ago. We decided to give it a local try as we were pressed for time and was told it was wide open which it was before catching the end of the men's club. The fairways were very dry and the last reviewer described them well. You could be in lush grass, dry patchy stuff or hardpan all within a 5 foot radius. Most sections of the fairways need more watering and for sure saw different sections of grass growing. You get some roll currently out here and there are big drives to be had if you are a lower trajectory player off the tee. 5/10 The fairway rough is very dry, mostly mowed down and patchy would be a good word. Greenside rough and fringes are the exact opposite. Very thick, lush Kikuyu grass that will grab chips and stop them on a dime. No bump and run shots around these greens. 5/10 Teeing grounds were semi-lush, most blue tees are un-level but we could always find a level spot after some hunting. Weird thing they have going on here is only a few of the holes had black stones out and than the other half there were no black stones. If you have an official handicap and started out playing black you could get frustrated having to play two separate tee colors as the round progresses. Not in any bunkers but my buddy stated that they were decent with a crusty layer on top and just enough sand to splash out of underneath. Lets get to the greens--for sure the best part of the course. They held shots very nicely, were soft and rolled fairly true with minimal bounce. Rated 7/10. Looks like they had hole 12 green being worked on and had the "practice hole" next to the driving range fence working as hole 12 this day. I normally would not say this due to the dry conditions but I would recommend this course based on a couple things. Super friendly staff in the pro-shop with decent prices and most importantly this is a really great and fun layout. The holes on the other side of the road are super fun and they have a couple great longer par 3's, a fun par 5 and 2 great par 4's. I have always enjoyed the layout. If you can land a deal I would recommend Camarillo Springs. Just know currently you are here for the layout and the greens and not so much the drier conditions in the fairways and just off the fairways. Hopefully they can put some more water on these areas.

Sixteen years since I last played Camarillo Springs. No so such because I dislike the course, but rather because of geography. So on my return home from the Mission Clubin Lompoc, took advantage of a Golf Moose deal which also allowed me to play a round with my brother who lives in Topanga.

While never a great fan of this course, I always enjoyed playing it. Greens were far an away the best part of the course. Truth is that they were the only really good part of the course. Fairways are thin, rough spotty, bunkers thin with very little sand, tee boxes were some good - some not so good.

Had a 8:00 am tee time but was able to get out 30 minutes early and pace was 3 hours 20 minutes, so I liked that. Back nine the winds came up - didn't like that ! Fun round, brought back many fond memories, except that after 16 years, somebody added a lot of yards to the course without changing the yardage on the score card ?????

Needed to get in a quick round and saw an online TeeOff.com promo code at Camarillo Springs for $14.00 with cart on a British Open promo code for today 7/23/2018. Rode the Blues this morning being let out an hour early by nice staff. POP was 3 hrs 5 minutes playing through 5 groups. Not sure if I have ever played through that many groups. Looks like they might have had a shotgun tourney (based on the cart assignments I saw) this morning teeing off before the groups I played through. Thankfully I just missed the tourney. Weather was mid 80's with a 1-2 club breeze at times. The course is in about as good condition as it was couple weeks ago when I played here. Its not in super or pristine condition but it is playable. The layout, price today and the quick round all had what the doctor ordered. The greens were again the highlight of the course. They were very soft on approach. They rolled medium speed--would say a 9.5 on the stimp. Very few ballmarks, healthy and shiny green. Rated 7.5/10. The fairways had mixtures of lush green grass, sections of thin fairway grass and some hardpan areas here and there. Overall they played decently but seemed dry in many spots. Rated 6/10 Was in one fairway bunker on #4 that contained raked firm sand easy to hit out of. Many tees were un-level and you needed to hunt for a level stance. They were very thick and green to the naked eye. Rating 6/10 The rough was again a mixed bag today. Some hardpan, some brown area, some really thicker nestled down deeper stuff that did not look bad to the naked eye but would sink down deep. Great layout and for $14.00 with a cart--they got me back out on this course.

First time out at Camarillo Springs since 2015. Rode the Blue tees at 1pm today 6/25/2018 with my buddy Brian and Ricki. POP was super relaxed at just under 4 hrs with literally nobody in front of us. We only saw 1 group 2-3 holes behind us the whole day--it was like we owned the golf course. Weather was 75 degrees and breezy with up to a 2 club wind for most of the day.

Camarillo I believe has new management--the starter inside the pro-shop was very nice and accommodating. Their range is kind of beat up but they do have a nice large putting green, adjacent chipping green and short game area just right of the driving range fence that has a regulation green where you can hit anywhere from 10yd to 160yd warm up shots.

The rough was very interesting. I have played thick rough and I have played kikuyu rough. The best way to describe the rough just around the fringes of the green complexes was thick kikuyu rough that in many parts were not maintained. Our group hit some irons just off the fringe and it was not a pretty site chipping your rock. For sure a club grabber. The rough around the fairways was long sketchy kikuyu rough as well. Rough rating 6/10.

The layout here is very fun--the first 6 holes will test the best of players especially in the wind. Reachable par 5's, some fun elevated dogleg tee shots, couple longer par 3's and enough bunkers, OB and dry lateral hazards to keep it interesting. Due to its poor tees and rough it would not be a course I could recommend for a player on a regular rotation but I for sure appreciate its bones/layout. We had a great time today--thanks Camarillo Springs.

Good Morning Greenskeeper Golfers. Finally, I was able to get out and play a round of golf. On April 1st, I played Camarillo Springs Golf Course. My tee time was at 4:00 PM, the course was very much empty; in which allowed me to finish the 18 holes. The course is good conditions. The fair ways decent and green. The tees were in good shape and balance. The greens were rolling good with a few that were a little bouncing. The sand traps were easy to get out from and have a good amount of sand. Customer services was great and allowed me to get a cart so that I was able to finish the 18 holes. The price was good. Overall a rate this golf course 7.5 all around.

Played 6-29-17 early morning walking as a single for $18 using the birdie card, and getting around in about 2 hours 15 minutes. Overall I would say the course conditions are below average. Black tee boxes range from very dead grass to 2 inches thick and most of them you had to search for a level stance. Fairways were about 50% lush, 40% dried out, and 10% thin or bare dirt. Rough is anything from bare dirt to 4 inches thick. Greens were the best part of the course, they were very soft and rolled medium/slow, and fairly true. Even though the course is not in good shape it is still playable and okay if you can find a deal.

Got out today for the first time in a while...man I missed it. Little rainy/cold at the start but overall couldn't complain about the weather at all.

Got out today for the first time in a while...man I missed it. Little rainy/cold at the start but overall couldn't complain about the weather at all.

2 words describe this course - bird turds. Every hole with the exception of maybe 1 or two was covered with those little remnants of the coots and geese that are all over here. With all the rain the last few weeks, it looked as though the maintenance crew will have their hands full in the very near future. Right off hole number 1 was a few large mud piles, and quite a few mud tracks where the water has definitely taken its toll. Overall course was in okay condition given the recent weather, but once the rain lets up they better get it under control quickly.

Boxes - 5/10. Could always find a flat spot to hit from, but they were all VERY shaggy. Some of the par 3s were loaded with divots so a few steps back was required.

Fairways - 5/10. Also VERY shaggy. The above maintenance comment directly applies here.

Rough - 5/10 - same as the fairways. Some holes were difficult to ascertain the difference. Quite a few weeds on the course as well, a half hour of picking weeds would make a huge visual difference.

Sand - n/a. Was lucky enough to stay out of them, so no experience/comment here.

Greens - 8/10. This was the bright spot of the round. Greens were great today. Rolled true and only one hole had bumps that impacted the putting. Little inconsistent speed-wise but nothing to worry about here.

Pace of play - 9/10. Got out at 7:00am on a saturday morning as a 2 some, and finished in under 4 hours. Can't complain at all about this.

Saw a $23 deal with cart and thought "at that price, we have nothing to lose" True for the most part, but we did get what we paid for...

Tees, very thin and mostly just thrashed....

Fairways, some occasional grass, mostly brown lots of dirt areas.

Traps, dirt, but raked.

Greens were very reasonable, lush and green.

Clearly, the overall course and facility maintenance has suffered tremendously with the drought as well as the round count and related income, I am sure. But to still have up the Christmas decorations in the clubhouse? Just sloppy.

We got about the value for what we paid. Manage your expectations and get a really cheap deal and it can be an okay day. We won't be rushing back even at this price.
