Had a chance to play my home course this afternoon 10/19/2015 but instead gave Camarillo Springs a shot walking with my buddy Pedro7170 and his buddy Carlos. POP teeing off at 2:35pm was 3 hours 30 minutes never waiting on one shot. Paid $15.00 which is their super twilight time which starts at 2:30pm. Had not played here since Feb of 2013 and was not expecting much from this course based on its past history and reviews. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised when it came to certain aspects of the course. Starting with the greens they were for sure the highlight of the course running smooth, medium speed and soft on approaches. Looked like there were very mini fertilizer balls that did not effect putts at all. I was very impressed with the greens rating them a 7/10. The fairways also surprised me in that there was some nice coverage in most areas. Very little wet to muddy areas which historically has been a problem here. I would rate the fairways a 6.5/10. The sand was crusty and semi-firm and raked nicely. Was in 2 bunkers that I would rate a 6/10. The tee boxes here are pretty bad. Most all tees are un-level and half of the tees have some divot damage. The tee on #14 par 5 looked like it needed a good shave and haircut and needed to be completely leveled--tees rated 4/10. The rough was in decent shape 2-3 inches in spots and lush in spots. You could see the evidence in the back holes 2-6 of the Camarillo Springs fire and the most notable change I saw from not playing here for almost 3 years were the lakes on the course had no water in them? Wow that was weird seeing. I took advantage of that once on #5 left of the fairway. Very friendly staff, kind of an old crappy range---separate putting and chipping greens that were similar to the courses greens which is always nice. For the price we paid today it was worth the green fee. Its a fun layout---but they need to completely re-do the tee boxes here.

Hey there fellow golfers. I played Camarillo Springs this Sun, Sep 27th. I haven't played here an about 6 years. I stopped playing here because the course always seemed to be wet and not in the best shape. Well, guess what? It hasn't changed. The holes have changed around but the layout is the same. The course does have some challenging holes but the condition of the course distracts you so much you can't enjoy them. The course has some elevation but it's mostly flat and a good walk. The tee boxes need the most work. Mostly leveling out and cutting. The fairways would be good if they cut the grass so it is separate from the rough. Only one hole was cut like this, number 17 and the rest were like hitting into a field. The greens rolled ok and could be really tough if they were faster. The only good part of the day was the pace. No one in front of us or behind us the whole day. I only saw two other groups on the course when we teed off. Maybe the $55 rate had something to do with it because as we were finishing I saw more groups on the course. My advice is to play this only if you get a good rate or want to cross it off your bucket list. Until next time.

Played 4-30-15 afternoon on a $21 golfnow deal in 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes are shaggy and uneven, hard to find a level stance. Fairways were OK a little thin with some bare spots mostly on the backside. Rough is a mix of everything, long, short and dirt. Sandtraps were thin and firm. Greens were bumpy and rolling medium speed.

I played here for the first time in over 15 years and my initial reaction upon driving into the parking lot was not impressive to me. It looked pretty worn out in comparison to the neighborhood and from the freeway. As the previous reviews have stated, this place can certainly use a little more TLC, the property has so much potential to be so much more. Dated looking facilities, driving range, but decent carts. I didn't expect too much as I teed off. Yes, the tee boxes were in poor shape (not flat) but in better condition that in earlier reviews. The course was much greener than I anticipated, probably due to the recent rains but the maintenance crew was dealing with some flooding issues throughout the course. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the greens. They were a little on the soft side but were very green and putt very smooth. I would say they were very good, almost great if they were a little bit faster. CS plays much shorter than I remember, maybe because I was a beginner but if you drive it relatively straight, you should easily score below your average. This place is perfect for seniors and women golfers. I had a great time on my return. I certainly plan to come back within the next 10 years at least. I hope I didn't just come on a "good" day and they can maintain the quality of this week.

It was pretty much what I expected. Tee boxes were very shaggy. Quite a mixture of different grasses throughout the course. Fairways dried out in spots but then again we are in a drought. Most of the lakes are dry. Some greens are patchy, especially #11 par 3.

The greens are like an old breast implant, soft and ripply. Fairways a bit burnt, no biggie. Pace of play horrendous, watched the group in front of us fall further behind every hole, they were still teeing off on a par 5 as group in front left green. Been playing here since the late '80's but the party is over...

Played this course with a friend on 5/15 early morning. Hardly anyone on the course. The tee boxes grass is high; the fairways are horrible (spotted, damaged, wet, areas under repair, etc); no sand in traps (dirt); and the greens are bumpy and grass is long.
Have not played here since last Thanksgiving (2013) and will not play here again until the conditions have improved drastically. Over priced at $39.00 w/cart.

Played 3-17-14 mid morning using the birdie card for a walking rate of $18. Course conditions are a little sub par. Tee boxes are very long almost like hitting from the rough you have to tee your ball up higher then you would normally to not catch grass between your ball and club. Fairways are also long so not much roll, a few dirt patches in some(mostly on the back) and some areas of over watering. Rough is anywhere from 4 inches to dirt. Sand traps are very firm with a thin layer of sand. Green where punched last week and seem to be healing nicely, but slow and bumpy right now. Its been awhile since I played here so the new black tee boxes where a suprise. Adding a little over 500 yards to the course. Gives some of the holes a new look from elevated tee boxes. If they get the course in better shape I might start playing here more.

Played yesterday for the first time in a few weeks, sure was nice to get out there again.

Always a little leery at Cam Springs - especially on a Saturday since it really is a "weekend golfers paradise". Not the most challenging or expensive course, and generally has some good specials out there on other sites.

Tees: 7/10 - some were lush, needed to be mowed and some were in great shape. There were only a couple that were in dire need of some attention. Decent enough shape, have definitely seen them looking worse before.

Fairways: 8/10 - looks like Cam Springs has been doing some good work on most of their fairways. Still haven't gotten the memo that water-logged fairways in the middle of the day aren't exactly what Golfers are looking for, but no complaints here as far as the quality of the fairways.

Bunks: 6/10 - by far the low point of the round. Standing water in just about all of the bunks that I saw and those that didn't were water logged mud bunks instead of sand. Could have gotten better as the day went on, but I was lucky enough to stay out of them on the back 9 and didn't really pay a lot of attention to them at that point.

Rough: 7/10 - Rough just off the fairway was in GREAT shape. Rough outside of that was patchy. Although it was easy to hit from, it was a lot like hitting from asphalt or cement in some instances. Also - the lakes that are prevalent on the front 9 and a few holes on the back were empty. Bone dry. Weeds growing in them. Made it easy to find the ball, but at the same time did something for the serenity and views since they just weren't there.

Greens: 9/10 - By FAR the best part of the course today. Greens were in a shape I had never seen them before at Cam Springs. Everything was true and fast and it was just nice to see the work they'd done here. Only green that had a bunch of marks that weren't fixed was 18, and I have a feeling it's because people just figured they didn't have to fix their marks since it was the last hole.

Pace of Play: 8/10 - Generally was pretty good. Had a group of hackers in front of us that allowed an entire hole to open up in front of them on 8, then had the nerve to wait on the next tee and ask us to slow down and wait for them to drive to the next hole before we teed off (we teed off when they were messing around at their cart for a little bit of time after they cleared the green). Still finished the whole round in 4.5 hrs though, so can't be too upset about that at all.
