Rode the Blacks this afternoon 10/27/2018 on a Hot Deal Time for $21.00 at 12:56pm. Our POP was pretty brutal behind a college tourney. Almost a 3 hour front nine had me play the front nine again in only 1 hour. Paired with a really cool father/son for the 1st nine holes. Really cool starter and staff here. Nice putting green up top next to clubhouse, chipping green right next to 1st tee box and a big range with mats. Grew up playing here but had not played here for a couple years. The course made some cool renovations in 2016 by putting new bunker complexes in and putting real deep beach sand in all the bunkers. They also reduced some turf and replaced those areas with wood chips, plants and shrub. I really like the changes they made. The bunkers(was in 2 of them) contained really nicely raked beach sand. Some deep bunkers here that should be avoided. Plenty of greenside and fairway bunkers here. The greens for looking like they might have been injected or punched weeks ago rolled quick and with just a few minor bumps. I liked the greens and thought they were in good shape. The fairways were mostly all green with what I would call semi-lush lies. The tees looked like they had just been re-sodded. Thanks to the marshall for letting me play all of the way on the back markers as he was following the end of the college tourney and moving the markers up as they finished. The rough is mostly lush, Kikuyu and in decent shape. I am bummed I did not get to play the back nine but could just not stomach a 6 hour round with the sun setting and me wanting to get back for the Dodger Game. Father/Son I played with stated that they played here last Saturday and the POP was not bad so I will chalk it up maybe to just this Saturday with the college event in front of us. I would recommend playing here but you might want to try a middle of the week round rather than a weekend round here as this track gets a ton of play.

Fun and challenging layout with beautiful Oak trees and significant elevation changes. Course conditions I experienced were superb from tee to green. The course was green, lush and performing well, including sand traps full and well-manicured.

Course conditions have improved dramatically in the last 2 years due to management change to Arcis and a sustainable redesign in 2016. The benefits of that redesign not only resulted in savings of one million of gallons of water per month but also a more beautiful and challenging golf course.

Despite the renovation being fully funded by a turf reduction rebate from the Metropolitan Water District and the savings of a million gallons of water per month, the rates to play this course have been increased to $74 with cart, prime time. With the increased green fees, the course is not as affordable as many other equal or near equal quality options in Ventura County. I love this course and recommend it highly to anyone who has never played it.

Back out at Los Robles yesterday at 7:20am and finishing at 11:15 walking. I have to say this course is a joy to play since many holes give you options. The par fives are reachable with good drives, there are doglegs, left to right and right to left holes, short ones long ones, and i just keeps you engaged throughout the round. Course conditions right now are very good and only getting better. The sand was consistent but had some areas left unraked, the tee boxes were nice and we only found one which was unlevel, the fairways were semi-lush throughout with only a few areas of thin spots, the rough here is a mixed bag due to the bare desert style format they use to save on water, and lastly the greens we fast and smooth but i will say that about 1/2 of them were recently punched with the small holes but still rolled true. You rarely get a straight putt here but the greens are a lot of fun to play. Lastly, at $25 to walk this place is surely worth the money!!! recommended highly!

Played a nice twilight round for my first-ever visit to Los Robles on Friday afternoon ahead of a weekend tournament at River Ridge on Saturday. Called ahead and they got me a spot with a single, but he disappeared after the first hole, then I joined a group of four older Indian doctors who were quite a hoot. We had some slow going at times but the company was good and the course was in nice shape. The only gripe is that we had to start on the 10th hole and when we finished 18, they were putting new groups out on the first tee. We had words and they moved those players over after an apparent miscommunication.

Anyway, tricky little hilly and narrow course for my game. I found some of the holes quite quirky but enjoyed the round for the most part. A few bizarre tree placements here and there, and some really challenging downhill and long par 3s, but overall it's a pretty cool little track, topping out at just 6300 yards from the black tees. I walked the course and was not expecting it to be as hilly as it was.

Nice greens for sure. Very solid rolls and holding shots well. Coverage was nice. They weren't overly tricked out in any way but some tough pin positions. Fairways were mostly in good shape but there were some thin areas here or there. Rough not too penal but there are a lot of mulch areas around the fairways (assume it's the best way to avoid water bills) and they are not fun to hit from so keep it straight if you can (famous last words). Bunkers were mostly in good shape and don't remember having any issues with the tee boxes.

This course would certainly be more playable after a few visits to know exactly where you're trying to hit it towards. It's very convenient just off the 101 so I will try and come back to do better one day.

I've enjoyed Los Robles since I first played it back in 1978. While I love the re-design/layout and even the new bunkers, which I'm still trying to solve, the fairways are in maybe the worst shape I've ever seen them. The staff is outstanding as well, but this historic course (many used to refer to it as "Little Riviera" ) needs help.

Played here yesterday with a 8am tee time with 3 others. We all completely enjoyed our round here with perfect weather and above average conditions especially the greens which were excellent. The greens were smooth, fast, and semi firm so crisply hit shots held and not so crisp shots ran off the back. If you were above the hole it was very difficult to two putt!. The tees were mostly level, the fairways are semi lush with some spottiness and I notice the fairways were being punched behind us so beware......The sand at Los Robles is a joy to play from however most traps were left unraked. This is just a fun course to play with a great variety of holes. recommended!!!! but remember they were punching the fairways as we were finishing. Oh yea and we finished in 4 hours walking! One more thing, the lunch menu is great and so is the food.

Played here yesterday with 3 friends teeing off at 8:15. I will try to rate the course based on what I think the conditions will be in a week since the Santa Ana winds blew so hard the course was an utter mess. Trees fell, branches were all over the place, and dust and leafs were blowing everywhere. It was almost unplayable but the winds were gusty so you had a brief time between the gust to take a swing. The tees were level for the most part, the fairways were a little patchy and so was the rough, the traps were nice and the greens where medium fast, held shots well, and quite bumpy due to all the debris. Give the maintenance crew a few days to clean this place up and most areas should be 6 out of 10 with the greens being a little higher.

I played Los Robles twice last week, Tuesday 10/3 mid day, and Saturday 10/7 at 10am. POP Tuesday was good at around 4 hours, Saturday was much slower at 5:10. I'm a walker, and it's a moderately difficult course to walk.

The course is extremely green and in good shape right now. I played the Blacks, and all of the tee boxes are lush and have good coverage, but there are a couple that need re-leveling...#5 being the biggest offender. The fairways are in great shape...very lush and green and a joy to hit from. The rough around the greens is nice, and isn't too penal. 1-3 inches long and lush. However, once you get off the fairway you'll have a mixed bag of lies...splotchy rough, hardpan, or wood chips. The sand traps are all very good, with tons of heavy sand that can make them difficult to get out of if you dig too deep. The greens are in nice shape, running around 10 on the stimp and very undulating. They're very green and roll pretty true, but they're extremely soft...long irons into the par 5's stopped like darts. For as soft as they are, they're still pretty fast, especially down hill.

Service is always good in the proshop, and we saw the beverage cart many times on Saturday. I definitely recommend it right now. Now if they could only level that back tee box on #5...

We played here yesterday as a foursome teeing off at 7:20 and finishing at 11:15. It was a perfect day to golf and the pace was perfect as well. The course is in great shape right now. The fairways are semi lush, the traps were consistent and nice however many were left unraked by inconsiderate players. The tee boxes were mostly level and were the only beef I have with this muni condition. Why do the have two or three different type grasses growing on some of the tee boxes. Seems so odd for this to happen and I don't know why they can't fix it. The greens were rolling smooth and semi-fast and the layout as always is a blast to play. Many risk reward shots are out there. recommended YES!
