Tremendous day out at Los Robles for just my third visit this past weekend playing in an RPGC men's tournament. When I saw this one on the calendar a few months back I just knew that I had to be there as Los Robles is a super fun course to play, and it did not disappoint. My flight played from the blue tees and I rode for the day. The driving range is good but nothing too fancy and is a decent walk from the pro shop. Had a 10:30 tee time on a picture perfect summer day with little to no wind as well - ideal. Course conditions are really terrific. Greens were so good - running fast and smooth, holding shots and lines well and just overall being a real treat. Fairways, despite the summer heat, have held up incredibly well and I had good lies all day. The rough was also in good shape and voluminous but there's not a ton out there with all the native areas. Tee boxes were mostly all in very good shape - flat and level. Bunkers were slightly inconsistent but only between good and great - so no worries there. POP, which seemed like it was going to be a problem as we were the final group and at one point had a word from the marshal for being a hole behind (one of our players was VERY deliberate with his seven practice swings on each shot), ended up being just fine and we actually closed out exactly on four hours. Amazing. We certainly picked it up after the warning and the results showed. All in all just a super outing (despite my poor play yet again) but Los Robles continues to climb in my personal ranks of SoCal's most enjoyable 18s. Get out there soon.

Played here for the first time. The front 9 is very short and back 9 is very long. Greens were bumpy and slow but this was right after all the heavy rains. Fairways had OK coverage, same for the rough, both having some bare spots. Traps were wet, some filled with water. Overall, I thought is was a fun layout. Cart girls came around several times. Pace was around 4:45. Good for a muni, will likely try again in summer when conditions should improve.

Played in a Rancho Park Men's Club tournament at Los Robles on Sunday morning and was very excited to check out this cool track again after six years since my first and only visit. We had an 8am shotgun start and began play on the 12th hole. It was a perfect morning for golf giving way to an extremely hot early afternoon which certainly affected play later in the round.

First off, the driving range is a decent walk/haul from the clubhouse so keep that in mind if you're wanting to get some practice in before your round. First tee is conveniently located and a very warm and inviting straight-ahead par five to kick off your round. After that things can get a little crazy but it's a super fun layout that really indulges all the golf senses.

You've got a lot of elevations and tricky angles at Los Robles, along with a few decent carries and lots of 'native' areas that will tease and torment you. It's not a particularly long course but it certainly makes up for it in other ways.

The course conditions were really, really nice. The greens were devilish and confounded me all afternoon, but they were in great shape, rolled really nicely and held shots well. Apart from the first and tenth fairways, the rest were really in pristine shape and very well-received by myself and my playing partners. Yes, country club quality on so many holes. Rough was never too penal but of course the mulch and native areas play much more difficult. Bunkers were not so great - very thin and actually watered down pretty heavy. A lot of my playing partners had great struggles getting out of them and it did not look like a lot of fun. Tee boxes were very good.

I really enjoyed the round immensely despite not shooting a great score and would really love to come back again and work out some of the holes that I now remember a lot more clearly. It's just a fun round of golf and I would highly recommend it right now to anyone.

Out 1:30, 7/17 as a twosome joined by a single. I like this course but rarely get out to play here, so it was a nice treat for a mid-week round. Conditions are very good. No problems with the teeing grounds to start. Fairways were more consistently grown in with some cushion than any I've played in a while. They set up well. Where grass, the rough was well grown in and the ball could sit down bit and cost you. Otherwise there are extensive areas of wood chips and some bare spots to contend with. I was happy to miss the bunkers here, which are dramatically shaped, tending to be deep and nasty. The sand seemed fine but I observed a lack of follow-up raking that left a fair amount of footprints — lazy or PO'd golfers not cleaning up. Green surrounds were good for short game and the greens were very nice. They didn't give up pitch marks easily but neither did they seem overly firm. Reasonably quick but not as fast as the previous review. Some of the greens a have a lot of slope and too fast could get stupid quickly, so I found them challenging but very fair. Pace was about 4.5 hours and we had smoke and ash blowing our way for about an hour due to the Newbury fire before they knocked it down. I usually walk but this course has enough hills I rode for a change. Props to the middle-aged single with us who walked with his cart, but he was obviously beat up by the end. The course is in very nice shape with an interesting variety of challenges. Definitely recommended.

Played Sunday, June 23, 2024, in a small tournament. The course is in great shape. Holes 1 and 9 were cart path only due to overly wet conditions (something about their well overflowing). I always find this course to be challenging with some narrow tee shots (especially off the Blue tees). Lots of ways to get your ball lost or stuck in a bunker with some crazy bunch grass growing in it. Who thinks of this stuff?

Greens: Rolling fast and true. These were the fastest greens I have played on this year, maybe in recent memory. It was easy to roll 10' or more past the pin. All the greens here are sloped, and it was tricky.

Fairways and rough: Good grass coverage everywhere. The rough was thick, but not too penal unless your ball settled down. The fairways were really nice with a thick cushion of turf under your ball.

Bunkers: Not too good as far as grooming. Decent sand in most bunkers, but they all needed raking. A couple of bunkers had wet, hard-packed sand.

Tees: We played the Blue tees and they were all in great shape. Level and very few divots.

Overall, I had a great time, and the course is in good shape. Parking at this time is a little in disarray due to construction of solar canopies in the main parking lot. There's plenty of parking but you need to drive around the construction to find it. The clubhouse has decent food at reasonable prices.

Ok so first time playing here so I don’t have a baseline to see if this is better than normal, but it’s in great shape except for one thing. 90% of the bunkers are terrible. The ones that aren’t small lakes look like they’ve never seen a rake. POP was terrible in my opinion. Played on a Monday and waited on every shot. 5 hours is way too long for this course. Never saw a Marshall the whole day. Ok now for the good stuff, Tee boxes pretty level, but grass was thin at times. Fairways were in great shape and lush. Didn’t see any drown spots or severe divot damage some spots were a little soft. Greens looked and rolled great with very few divot damage and they rolled very fast (which I prefer). Hole 13 though needs something done, if the pin is left of center and you are above the hole it will not stay on the green. Just a bit unfair. Rough was good, they were mowing it while we were playing, so I can image it’s deeper on the weekends but was still playable. Overall nice track with elevation changes and if the wind picks up it can get tricky. If you’re a long hitter some hole will play a little short but putting in play is a must as the oaks trees and doglegs place a premium on putting the ball on the proper side of the fairway. All in all I’ll be back and would recommend this course for golfers of most skill levels.

Played yesterday after the rains let up. Minimal standing water on the course but man there are some spots that are hurting. Half of 9's fairway is dirt and GUR.

Relatively slow day because we were behind a group of guys who were clearly playing frat boy golf. Playing from the tips, getting 2-3 beers per hole, flirting with the cart girl, etc. They were playing from the tips and watching them - shouldn't have been past the whites.

Greens were fast. Like super fast. Just in time for them to punch on Tuesday. Fairways were thin but for the most part could take a divot easily. Rough was good. Deep enough to affect you but not overly punishing. Boxes were hit and miss. Played the backs until I caught up with a group in front on 5 and played blues after that. Back were in rough shape but the blues were decent.

Definitely recommend this course but probably not for a few weeks until the green heal.

Played yesterday at 1120...teed off a little behind schedule and it was slow the whole day. We barely finished with enough daylight left for maybe 1 to 2 more holes at the most. Shocking how long it took considering they said the Marshall was out trying to speed up players.

Course itself is in pretty great shape. Fairways are green, with enough bounce under them to take a good divot. Boxes (blacks) are in great shape, only had 1 that was not well maintained (#4). Greens were soft and fast. Nice that they were receptive but also a bummer cause everyone's steps and spikes make it bouncy around the hole. Rough was in good shape and easy to play out if. #9 fairway looked rough...not sure if it was storm damage or fungus or what but it was very thin and scraped flat.

Fairways were green and full. Nice and spongey so you could pick the ball or take a divot if you wanted to. Greens were fantastic...as per usual. These are often the best part of this course and it stayed true today. Rough was hit and miss...some green, tough to play out of (tough to find your ball in some cases) and some patchy with dirt/mud spots. Not a big deal though and certainly wouldn't hold it against the course - especially at this time of year. Bunkers were good for the most part...sand was a little thick/heavy but I chalk that up to the fact that we played at 0630 AM and it hadn't really had a chance to dry out from the night before yet.

Would always recommend this course...it's a nice little pitch and putt that is a game improvement course for sure. Get the chance to hit all of your clubs and can work on your chipping/putting here too.
