Not having been here in a good while, I was surprised that the most recent review was back in October '22, and even though I very rarely get out to LR, it did not disappoint. My buddy and I were paired with another two-some, teeing off around midday. Playing the whites, the teeing rounds were pretty consistently level with good coverage. The fairways were in good shape. A few lush to the point of spongey while most were a little firmer with reasonable rollout. A lot of rough has been removed, edged and replaced with wood chips and dry-scaping. It saves a lot of watering and makes the course look well defined. Where there is still green rough it could get thick in patches. A rework of the bunkers was the other major part of the remodel done some years back and they are formidable — deep with very vertical green-side walls. In some cases, playing sideways or backwards to get out is the percentage move. There seemed a shortage of rakes so they weren't always as groomed as they could be, but the sand quality is nice. Green surrounds were good for the short shots and the greens themselves were good, if a little diabolical. On the fast end of medium, it seemed like the pins were frequently on enough slope that anything above and from the side was extra tricky. We speculated that the greenskeeper woke up a little cranky. Definitely some challenge to them but clean and fun. It was pretty warm but enough breeze to wick off the sweat and keep it reasonable. Heat was not the issue I feared it might be, but I was mostly riding in lieu of my usual walk and carry mode. Pace was a little over five hours but because it was pretty steady, didn't seem that long. This is an interesting layout with good variety of holes and challenge. I thought was well worth the senior rate of $53 with cart. It was my buddies first exposure to the course. He liked it and is definitely interested in a return visit. I won't get back here too often but it definitely won't be as long an interval as this last one. Recommended.
