Played twilight this afternoon 5/4 from the tips. Olivas has moved twilight back to 1pm...starter and pro-shop staff cool...let me out a little early and walked the course in 3 hours 40 minutes with nobody in front. Greens were in nice shape...very little to no ball marks and rolling true. I like the shape that they are in now as they are holding iron shots well and are not extremely quick. The fairways are thin in some spots but are trying to "green up" and are actually not too bad. The sand is high quality and the rough is lush in spots around the fairways. Tee boxes in GREAT shape. Wind was strong today. Great driving range and practice area....still one of the best deals in the county for twilight.

Played twilight this afternoon 4/20/2009 walking the tips. No wind today...pace of play great. The greens were in perfect shape...they completed verticut around a month ago and are now in good shape. They were slower for Olivas's standards and held shots well. The fairways were in decent shape...grass trying to grow out on these fairways..some hardpan spots out there but not too bad. The tee boxes and sand were in excellent shape. Great practice area...nice and friendly pro-shop staff. Olivas is the place play to play when the Valley's are scorching.

First fairway had a lot of damage, the second some, besides this, the course was in good shape. Was windy and rained for about an hour. The bunkers were in excellent shape. Good round of golf, tough with the wind. The land this course is built on is excellent. The front nine needs to grow in more, but the back 9 is great. We got out about 20 minutes late, and the pace was fairly slow, but somewhat expected for a Friday twilight.

Played this afternoon 3/23/09 at Olivas from the tips. Verticut front nine greens with top dressing. Back nine greens will be started tomorrow with verticut. Had a free round today with the eagle card reward which included a cart...was almost able to get 36 holes in. Great track...links style golf rip it off the tee and run it up to the green with your chips and irons. Wind is always a key factor with your shots here. Pro-shop staff always friendly here..great practice area...pace of play was excellent today...traps in great shape as were the tee boxes and aprons. Fairways are in poor shape..hardpan...hoping that the summer will bring some more grass and some decent lies in the fairways. Two par 5's #2 and #14 play long and into the wind....

Walked from the tips in 4:10 playing twilight. The tees were immaculate, greens well above average. The fairways are somewhat hardpan but playable and the sand traps were in excellent shape.

Played twilight this afternoon 3/16/2009 with Pingman72 and Nickesquire1. Greens in great shape at this time at Olivas. Topdressing on the front nine greens. Apron's around the greens very thick and lush and in good shape. Tee boxes were in great shape, growing in nice and lush. Sand bunkers have thicker sand and are in great shape. Fairways and areas not including the aprons are hardpan and need work. Pace of play was great today, great staff inside the pro-shop..we walked the tips in 4 hours 5 minutes.

I play this course 5-10 times a month and the course conditions are very good especially comparing it to the same time last year. Fairways are much better than this time last year. Not many bare spots... Continue »

I play this course 5-10 times a month and the course conditions are very good especially comparing it to the same time last year. Fairways are much better than this time last year. Not many bare spots, but their are quite a few divots as the grass is dormant and so the divots are starting to accumalate as we get towards the end of winter. Greens are smooth and average speed. Customer service is great here. Much better than Buena or River Ridge in terms of friendly staff. My major complaint is the pin placements are ridiculous. 15 of the 18 pins, the last time I played were within 10 feet of the edge. Every time you play at least half, and usually more of the pins are within 3 paces of the edge. I'm up for a challenge but a pin in the middle from time to time would be nice.

Played Olivas this morning 2/17 from the tips. Have to hand it to this course...even with the heavy rains the last 48 hours Olivas's greens, aprons and sand traps were in very good shape(sand a little firmer of course) due to wet conditions but still in good shape. The fairways had many puddles out there and of course not as much roll on your drives. Some of the fairways have brown hardpan spots which hopefully with the recent rains can improve to more lush ground....staff was great inside the pro-shop as usual...let me play the back nine first...course running a deal today $25.00 to walk at anytime....give the course a couple days to dry....I would highly recommend this course to anyone

Played twilight this afternoon 1/8 from the tips. Wow...the greens are in great shape...very little to no ball marks or damage....rolling true....medium to quick speed even with the recent rains. The bunkers at Olivas are in great shape....rough around the fairways hit and miss...growing high in some spots and cut down in others. Fairways are brown this time of year and are in OK shape. Wind was up today which made it a challenge. Slow group in front of us and marshall was doing his job asking if we could play through which we did. Attentive and friendly staff in the pro-shop......added bonus this course drains very well after rains.....overall for $28.00 twilight fee for a weekend Olivas is a great bargain.
