Played New Years Day. Perfect weather, excellent course, great playing partners. Can't remember when I enjoyed a round of golf more. Marshalls were evident and kept us all moving. First seven holes I played very well, then the course bit me. Will try to play again soon.

Most of the grass is going dormant but the coourse played well. Greens hard and fast. Lot of roll in the fairways.

Played twilight this afternoon 12/26. Greens on the back nine were very firm and in great shape. Greens on front nine also in nice shape but not as firm. Tee boxes in good shape. Sand was in good shap... Continue »

Played twilight this afternoon 12/26. Greens on the back nine were very firm and in great shape. Greens on front nine also in nice shape but not as firm. Tee boxes in good shape. Sand was in good shape(both bunkers I was in). Fairways were thin and not that much distance and roll today due to the cold weather. Pace of play was decent...we finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. Great driving range, practice chipping and putting facility. Staff inside the pro-shop gave us free range balls today due to frost delay and the big-wait on the first tee.

Played 12/23. My first time out to Olivas after the remodel. I was looking froward to playing the course and was not let down. Played as cart path only from the rains previous evening. Agree with previous poster in that the geens and aprons were in great shape. Fairways were dormant and have seen better days. However, all G.I.R. were clearly marked and in most cases you still got a good lie from the fairways. Traps were consistant and of good quality. Although I enjoyed the round, not sure that I will venture out from Santa Clarita too often to play at these rates. I could have played RR for less.

Played twilight the day after Thanksgiving. The course was VERY busy and still wet after the rains earlier in the week. This affected the greens as they were softer than usual and had more severe ball marks than usual. Suprisingly fast considering everything. The tee's, aprons and sand traps were immaculate considering the recent weather and amount of players. They are still consistently working on the fairways and I see signs of improvement every time I've played here over the past few months. I suspect they will be immaculate again come springtime and consistent warm weather, but they are very playable now. The course played LONG in the colder, wetter conditions

Played twilight this afternoon 11/28 with Esquire and TTucker. Teed off around 35 minutes late due to the post T-day crowds. Course was playing fairly quick considering back up. We finished the last hole in the dark at a 4 hour 40 minute pace...not bad for a holiday round. Fairways in decent shape with more roll than you would expect in the winter. Not a lot of grass underneath your ball here at Olivas which makes the proper contact off your club a must. Greens were in really good shape....some greens need some work(like #1) in the front middle of green...but for the most part this is always the best part of this course. The bunkers have nice quality soft sand in them. Each bunker plays different depending on how much sand is in there. Tee boxes were in good shape and they are growing the rough up in certain spots again. Wind was not much of a factor today. Cart girl was around at least 4 times. Staff inside the pro-shop were doing their best with the holiday rush. Awesome chipping and putting green practice area with a grass driving range. Twilight rounds here are still one of the best deals around.

Played in 4 1/2 hours from the tips starting behind the senior skins game @ noon. The fairways are going dormant again, but the poor areas are well marked as ground under repair. They have sanded and are attempting to renovate the bad spots. Tees and aprons look great. A couple of greens , specifically #1 have a bad spot they are repairing. Overall however, the greens are excellent. Sand traps are well maintained and have higher quality sand than most courses in the area.

Sand traps were fluffy and the best i have ever seen them, The greens are almost always great here, maybe a tad slower than other times, but excellent. Fairways are getting better and better and the tee boxes are improving as well. Layout and customer service are a + here. Walked from the tips in 4 1/2 hours.

Played for the first time yesterday. Maybe my expectations were too high from reading all the great reviews or maybe the wind messed with my head but I was a little disappointed. The layout was great and it was pretty well maintained for a public course, but the god-awful smell from the water hazards was overwhelming for half the round. Would have also liked to see a marshal get on the group in front of us for being 1-2 holes behind for most of the round, too. I had enough of a good time to play again but it didn't pass Buenaventura GC or some of the other local courses on my favorites list.
