Played Friday 07/03. First we couldn't decide whether to play Sterling Hills or this course Olivas Links. With the help from our fellow GK members, we decided to try this course. We loved it! It would be even great if we actually walk this course. This is very flat but with many rough hazards and fairway bunkers. Fairways are Great! We really loved the fairways... best fariways we have seen for long time. Greens are alright. Normal to slow speed. Not too much breaks on the greens. I would say, pretty easy putts on the greens. Bunkers are OK. I think I went in only two or three times. Roughs are tough. Roughs are long and very hard to find your balls. Most of time, you just have to take a drop. Most of us clean out our old golf balls. Luckly, I only lost one ball. One thing I fall in love with was their chairs on each tee boxes. I believe they have two chairs on every tee boxes. First, I couldn't understand why they have a chair a their logo on their score cards. They are very comfortable chairs. I would love to sit there and slip a nice cold ice tea... maybe with a cigar. Customer services are great. We will definitely go back. We would walk next time we go there. Thumbs up on Olivas Links!

Played on Friday, 6/26/09. Moneysworth and I had a Golfnow.com discount which made it well worth the one hour, fifteen minute drive from the Valley. Course conditions are great right now. Greens smooth, fairways and the intermediate rough lush. There was an employee going around marking ground under repair with some white paint; I assume it was part of their Friday Skins game. Pace of play was just over 5 hours, due to the old guys in front of us. They kept up with the course for about 4 holes, then started falling off the pace until the par 3 13th when another twosome jumped in front of them. Hit and wait most of the day.

Walked on yesterday and joined two singles: semi-retired Ed and Nick from Missouri. Only my second time at Olivas...what a great time! The course was awesome for the price. Some wet sand trips here ... Continue »

Walked on yesterday and joined two singles: semi-retired Ed and Nick from Missouri. Only my second time at Olivas...what a great time! The course was awesome for the price. Some wet sand trips here and there and spots where it could've been nicer, but I'm really not complaining. It was a lot of fun. To top it off every single person I interacted with there was extremely pleasant. I'll be back, especially for a walking, mid-week diversion from work.

Played Olivas Links Golf Course with fellow GK’ers longballs23 and Nickesquire1. We were also joined by a walk-on with serious game and a great attitude (Steve). The bermuda fairways have woken up beautifully. Nice and green and getting more lush every day. We played the day after the Ventura City Championship so the course was well groomed…although the greens, smooth as expected, but not as quick as I anticipated. Overall the course is in terrific shape. I always enjoy my round here. Course is forgiving off the tee yet will make you pay with a miss and the greenside complexes are interesting as well as well protected. Great variety with the layout featuring long, mid and short holes combined with the need to work the ball off the tee in different directions. Furthermore, it's a super course to walk. Flat, coastal breeze, mild temps – it has a great calming effect – something I need more of in my life – LOL. I recommend Olivas Links in anyone.

Played twilight this afternoon(6/8) with Johnny GK and Nickesquire1 from the tips. The fairways at Olivas are in very good condition right now. Green as I have seen them in a while. More lush grass and very few hardpan lies out there. The tee boxes are always in good shape with high quality sand. The tee boxes are always level here and are semi-lush. The greens were slower for Olivas's standards and were holding approaches well but putting semi-slow. Many putts in our group today missed short. Pace was good today as was the weather. Great practice area...looking forward to when they are going to put a clubhouse up for some drink and grub after the round.

Played on Sunday, 5/24/09, under windy and cool conditions. Course was somewhat crowded, with a little waiting almost every hole on the front nine, then opening up quite a bit on the back. Recent aerification on greens had little to no effect on putts. Ground was hard: tees hard to push in, fairway shots rolling, and greens really firm. You have to hit some high shots with spin or else run 'em up because they will roll out.

Bring your jacket!!!Played here with some great guys the other day. Had a fun time, but man was it cold!!! Frosty the Snowman came out of the bushes on the 14th hole and asked me for a ride out of the links. I mean, it was cold. Should of walked my fat butt instead of riding and would of kept warmer. Anyways, the course is beautiful. Lush, lush, and more lush. Traps (unfortunatley found out) were well maintained. Fairways great. However, the greens were not in good shape today, but playable. Nice staff. Fast pace of play.

Walked from the tips in 4:40. The greens were recently topdressed but still putted well. There were a few places on some fairways where it looked like they were getting ready to transplant new sod, the areas were cut out and marked. However, overall the course was in good to excellent shape. The traditional ocean winds were certaintly present, couple that with the overcast and it was almost chilly on a day most of So Cal was in the 80's.
