Other than the +5 hour round, this is a good value course. Marshalls were everywhere on the front but never saw one on the back nine. Walkers slow the pace way down.

River Ridge continues to be one of the great, affordable, consistent courses in SoCal. Interesting layout, great staff and good conditions. The only negative is that some of the bunkers have only a dusting of sand and then it's hardpan underneath. Makes it hard to dig it out and get it over the lip. Other than that it's a great track. I don't know why I don't play it more often.

I felt penalized on the course by the Pace Management Staff because I did not keep with their ideal pace of play. I think they are trying to put 1-2 extra foursomes on the course per hour and have based the pace on 10-handicap players. They need to install a call box on the 9th tee to place food orders. Our group was given a very stern condemnation for being late on the 10th tee after grabbing some food/drinks (we finally saw the cart attendent on hole 15).
I really liked the layout of the course.

Played this course for the first time on 10/22 and it was worth the wait. The front 9 was in fair condition, fairways were a little thin, the back nine was just the opposite. The fairways were great, it was almost like playing two differant courses. The pace was fair, we managed to finish in 4 1/2 hours with only minor delays. For $40, I thought it was a steal!

ON 10/10 and 10/11 they sliced the greens. Seems they purchased this machine a couple of years ago and feel the need to bring it every year need it or not. I feel its a case of over maintaining the greens. They punched the greens in April and they were in really good shape and now they appear to have deep lines through out every green. The ball seems to catch a groove and follows the path. I play this course quite a bit since I'm in the mens club, we tend to play on airated or sliced greens 3 to 4 months out of the year. A nice course with an over active greens keeper.

This is a great little course with some hidden views and challenging greens. Tees and fairways are in good shape and the greens are well maintained. Friendly staff - no interruptions by ground crews like at Buenaventura. Our foursome finished in 4:10 on Tuesday.

Because of the geography, I seldom play here anymore. I don't care for the changes made to the front nine (except #1) - the back nine is as great as ever! Speaking to the superintendant, the final nine could be finished in fall 2006. The layout looks good, at least on the map. $17 for senior is a steal! Wish we had a course of this quality in south Orange country for this $$, instead of the $100 tracks!
