the course was not in as good condition as the Lakes I played 2 weeks ago. A lot of dried fairways and lots of clippings all over the course. The greens were good but not as good as the Lakes.

the layout is was fun, it was my first time playing there. The view is great but it sucks to see the course not as cleaned up as it could be. It was 75 bucks to ride and the pop was a little sluggish. 833am tee time.

i wouldn't be in a hurry to play this side again but the 17th island hole is cool.

I asked to buy a flag for the hole in one. They said they don't sell them I said ok. They said we can print a certificate but it wouldnt be on card stock . I said "ok" they said it would be on regular paper, I said "ok" , then they said the printer was broken. LOL

You can't make it up.

Still an amazing day regardless.

Walked Vineyard this morning 7/8/24 for a special round with my buddy Pedro visiting from Ohio. Beautiful morning overcast fog gave way to partly cloudy skies with no wind and a POP of just over 4 hrs. Joined by a nice twosome who was riding. Very friendly staff in the proshop. Have not been here in about 2 and a half years. Fired my best round of the year but it did not have anything to do with conditions which are not great. Fairways were mainly brown with some spots of lushness. They were great on drive roll outs. Sometimes giving an extra 30 yds of roll. Lies for the most part had enough padding. Rated 6.5/10 Tees mainly level with many of the par 3s being chewed up. Overall not to bad. Rated 6/10 Greens were very healthy looking, soft on approaches and rolling very slow. Rated 6.5/10 Rough was the poor link of the course. Fairway rough and greenside rough was dry, thin and poor. Rated 5/10 Was in greenside bunker left on 9 that was beautiful. Enjoy the bones of this course, the cool weather and staff but the conditions are rough around the edges. #13 is playing as a temp teeing ground in the fairway due to cowboys training camp, but I said heck with that and teed back where they usually have the markers

Played 2/24. The course was in its average winter condition. Like many older SC courses there is a lot more kikuyu and St. Augustine grasses in the rough, fairways and around the greens. These firmer, stiffer grasses go dormant (more brownout)with colder temperatures. They will affect your drives and chips if you don't carry the ball (less rollout) onto the green, so club up. The courses will green up in the spring with more rain and warmer temperatures. Greens were medium fast and the River Ridge courses are a challenge worth the money to play.

Played the Vineyard course last weekend for the first time in years. The guy in the pro shop was grumpy, but whatever. The range was open and I appreciate that they have 2 different chipping areas and that nice big putting green to work on.

Out on the course conditions have firmed up again after all of the rain we got - no muddy areas that I encountered anyway. The tee boxes were very thin - like VERY thin, and there is an overall issue with clover. It makes an impossible rough, but is unfortunately also found in the fairways, making for some potentially unfair lies/lost balls. I think they punched greens almost a month ago, but they were still very slow. Bunkers were mostly compacted sand

No cart service. POP was 4:30-4:45

Played on Sat 4/15, tee 8*00am. Beautiful day for Golf. Breeze started off shore turned on shore at least 2 clubs by 18 (kinda the norm.) Large range (Mats). Nice chipping area & putting areas, 1 near each of the courses 1st tees. Tee Boxes; Are large enough to usually find a flat spot. Fairways; I am very surprised that the fairways are dry, more like mid summer. Always thinner lies on this course even with good grass coverage. Rough: Ranged from usual slightly higher than fairway to ridiculous 8+" high huge patches of clover that ate balls up. Some areas had weeds (in back of hole 11 green) 2' deep. C'mon, it hasn't rained in 2 weeks! Greens; punched about 10 days ago are healing nicely. Greens are slow, otherwise aeration not an issue. Collar areas most cut short & good. Bunkers decent. Cart girl came by 2x. Good friendly service everywhere. 4:30 POP. Although not in top condition, it's still a go. Greens should be Prime in a couple weeks.

Played Vineyard on Sat. Less than 2 weeks since the aeration. Perfect weather as usual, cool breeze off the Ocean! The good news is that #13 is back to a Par 5 (it was a par 3 since at least June thru August.) The Greens are recovering really well, with the exception of #6. The collar had quite a bit of diseased looking thin & bare spots. Some on the green too. Looks like it was punched with bigger holes. Other collar areas on the course are cut short & are in good condition. The Fairways are mostly good. Some dryer spots, but still grass under the ball. The rough is thin, not tough at all unless your unlucky behind a big weed. Bunkers are a mix of decent sand & hard/rocky. They need some attention. For those that haven't played here, pretty wide open, but lots of water especially last 4 holes. Signature 18th Par 3 Island hole always into a stiff breeze... The pace of play was just over 4 hrs (9*30 tee off), not bad for a Sat. Saw the drink cart at least once. You also drive by the Grill after the 13th. Grill is really good with full bar. Staff is efficient. Overall one of my fav's to play. #13 as a par 3 really hurt, but back to Par 5, is a great risk reward hole. Showing some signs of a long summer, but still a good value. I'll be back.

Played Vineyard Wed 6/1, 9*00am start. Buddy & I joined by a single. Perfect weather (usually is here) warm with a cool breeze off the ocean. The Pro Shop has a sign saying Hole #13 (par 5 running alongside the Hotel & Cowboys practice field) has been reduced to a Par 3 until further notice. They said too many balls in the hotel. I'm thinking lawsuit. I hope they put up nets or something, it was a great risk/reward hole over the lake. The USGA has adjusted the Slope/Rating. The Tee boxes are huge, so I can always find a level spot. The Fairways are ok, not lush but typical muni. Coverage is good, but thin. Some fairways on back 9 were brown & being re-sodded in spots. Looks like they needed more water. Rough is not much higher than fairway grass & usually good lie near the the fairway, after that a mixed bag. Not very penal. Greens are decent, probably 9 on stimp. I wish they were faster, but they want them this way; slower greens= faster play. Bunkers on the front had lots of new thick fluffy sand. The back was mixed, some with big rocks. But decent. POP; just over 4 hours. Recommend. I always come back, interesting course & can't beat the perfect weather.

First out walking Monday morning just after 6am. Still a little dark, but it allowed me to get around quickly. Staff was great. Very accommodating, both in the shop as well as the Peter the starter. Course was in just OK condition. I did not have any mowed greens, so they were slow and a bit bumpy. Fairways had decent coverage, but some thin spots. Same with the rough, which was not very long, so easy to play from. Both bunkers I found had adequate sand.

Enjoyed playing the course, particularly those holes which were part of the original 18 holes.
