1st twilight group out today 2/13 with my buddy Steve and Nickesquire1. Greens were in good shape holding irons and chips with spin putting to close to a 9-10 on stimp. They look like they have more grain to them and are healthy looking. Fairways have greened up some since last week...some hardpan areas still out there with plenty of roll. Most tees are level and some of the par 3 tees are very lush. They have added sand in a lot of the greenside bunkers which is a nice touch. Rough can be thick in some spots lining the fairways. Pace of play walking today was around 4 hours. Wind was tough today...surprised our group hit the ball so well despite the tough conditions.

Played first twilight with longball23 in very windy conditions. No one in front of us, we walked in slightly less than 4 hours and didn't wait a shot AD. The greens were firm and rolled well, medium fast. More and more sand traps have fresh, normal sand, HUGE improvement over the old Rustic sandtraps. Tees/Fairways look nice but are a little thin and hard. The rough is very hit/miss, could be on a fluffy lie or hardpan within a foot. $24 to walk twilight weekdays is a good value here.

Fairways are a little greener but still dry and firm as heck - 350 to 350 plus drives were common on 2 with no helping wind, for instance. Greens are rolling better and good speed. Generally tracking well with some bumps.

Although they have touted the upgrade of all the green side bunkers with new sande, they have at best moved from poor to average. And I saw at least two which were the old hard packed gravel.

Conditions should start perking up as they are hosting a mini tour event in the future.

played 2-6 super twilight for $15 was able to finish 18 just as it was getting dark. the course is in good shape .fairways are a little greener then last time i played here but still a little dry with a lot of roll. greens are in real nice shape rolling pretty fast and a little on the firm side. some of the greens had been recently sanded but it did not effect the roll. tee boxes in good shape. some of the sand traps have new sand in them the ones that don't are hard packed and firm. rough has grown up a little but still very playable. pro shop is always great here. fun course to play no matter what your skill level.

Out at Rustic Canyon earlier this week for their super twilight special that they are running $15.00 walking starting at 1:30pm. Played with RGM2525 and a buddy. This review is for front nine only. Our group played the front nine twice and 4 extra holes. Greens are the best part of the course right now. They are holding irons and chips with spin very nicely. They are putting true and in pretty good shape. The fringes are inconsistent from green to green and present themselves nicely. They are softer than in years past. I would encourage all golfers alike to fix at least 5-10 ballmarks on the greens and especially the fringes here while you are waiting for others to finish playing. The fairways are hardpan and you get maximum roll. Course is playing firm and fast. They are adding new sand to many of the bunkers out here which is a nice change. Current bunker condition is still borderline waste sand. Nice addition adding fairway on right side of #7 where you can bomb it over the ravine if you like depending on the set of tees you are playing that day. Tees are level and are very lush at this time. Pro-shop staff excellent customer service the day we played. We played back(black) tees which are a great challenge on this course. Can't wait to get back out there.

I think conditions are not very good overall - poorest I have seen them here. As mentioned before - the fairways are extremely dry and hard-pan in areas. Rough is patchy. Tee boxes were ok but a bit beaten up on the par 3's. Sand was hard packed gravel as usual.

Even the greens were not really up to par - very bumpy and slow with lots of poa in them. they were not running true at all. Ball was hopping all over the place.

Saving grace was pace was good for a weekend morning at around 4.20.

Played twilight on 1/9/12 in very windy conditions, borderline unplayable on the greens. Greens very firm, almost impossible to get the ball to stop if you were both downhill/downwind. Several putts in our group that initially looked like gimme's ended up off the green. One of my playing partners rolled a 35 foot uphill birdie 3' PAST the hole on #13, and when the ball finally stopped, he had a 40 foot par putt... it ended up 5' behind where he started.

New sand added on #15 was needed. Fairways mostly hardpan,often get a better lie in the rough just off the fairway.

Hi-light of the day was witnessing Longball23 ace #4 with a nice, drawing short iron that landed maybe 10' directly right of the hole and the spin/slope took it from there.

Course playing shorter, from fairway to green, it's firm and quick. In good shape overall, but could seriously use a good watering. There are a few areas they have changed where the green topped red stakes are located. Notably #5 no longer has red stakes just off both sides of the fairway, left side has been cleaned out and the right side is no longer staked. Numerous chips and even putts from our group rolled through the green and off into the rough, hard surface + windy = almost unplayable @ times.

Out for a twilight round 12 noon tee time yesterday 1/9/12 with Nickesquire1 paired with another single. The fairways are hardpan in most areas with a few patches of soft grass here and there. We had two drives in our group on #2 that measured 330 and 370 yds. I had just a chip to #14 and #2 which is unheard of. The tees were level and thin with some divot damage but not to bad overall. If you are a player like me and like to hit off the ground on par 3's I would suggest using a tee for sure due to the tees being very thin. The greens are the best part of the course. They are in very good shape and rolling beautiful. They hold with spin and I feel are receptive even thought they are putting fast. Sand is packed and firm. We had a 30mph + Santa Ana wind for the first 15 plus holes that was fun to play downwind on #1, #2 and #3 and was hard to even walk in upwind #9 #10, #11 and #13...staff very professional and a good test of quick firm golf here.
