Played in a foursome on 2/13 with a 10:50 am tee time. Took about 5 hours to complete. (There were a lot of groups in front of us). Greens were very firm and pretty quick. It seems like most of our approach shots to the green bounced on and then bounced right off. The pin placements on the green were very brutal. They were either on a slope or on the edge of the green. Greens look like they will need to be aerated soon. Fairways were also very firm and a bit dry. Seems like the winds coming through this area are drying out the course. But I liked the layout of the course. There was a notice on the door that the greens fees are going up a couple bucks for play on Friday thru Sunday beginning 2/17.

Played Saturday 2/10, teeing off at 8:00am and finishing a few minutes before 1:00pm, largely thanks to the group in front who fell nearly two holes behind pace. No doubt this is a great walking course despite the distance between some holes, but I think guys who are 85 years old should probably get a cart for free. On the bright side, I hope I'm still occasionally walking golf courses when I'm 85. Rant aside, Rustic is in great shape right now. Greens are really firm and pretty quick, fairways are perfect as we've all come to expect. The rough remains problematic and is clumpy and spotty in a lot of areas - I guess you'd better just try keeping the ball on the short grass to avoid the frustration of horrid lies. I think spring aeration is coming up soon, either in the last week of Feb. or first week or so of March, so get out sooner rather than later. And for pete's sake, keep up with the group in front of you, would you? Thanks!

This is the sweetest course ever! If you have not had the pleasure, do whatever you have to do to get out at Rustic. Taking all factors into account (price, layout, staff, etc...), this is the best course I have ever been to.

The staff here is money. The layout is like no other course in So Cal. The links style layout will blow your mind if you have never played it before.

I have played almost every public course in orange, riverside, san bernardino, and los angeles counties...Rustic Canyon is the best hands down!!! I live 80 miles from this course and have been there at least 5 times in the last 2 1/2 months, it is just a pleasure to play.

Played Rustic Canyon for the first time (and defintely not the last) on Super Bowl Sunday in what must have been 40 to 50 mph winds at times. Course design lends that on days when it is that windy the majority of holes either play straight downwind (where the previously mentioned 375 drive yards come into play) or into the wind where you just hope to be able to make a swing without falling over. on some greens it was hard to putt when you are chasing your ball over the green waiting for the wind to stop blowing it. None of our foursome had played the course before which made for some interesting discussions on the tee box of where to aim our tee shots and causing us to have to think our way around the course (teeing off with six and seven irons on some downwind par 4s to put the ball in play) as opposed to just pulling out the driver. All in all a great time was had and looking forward to my next vistit to RC.

Beware a windy day at Rustic Canyon. It is the only time you will be proud of a 200 yard drive and almost ashamed of a 375 yarder.

Overall a great trip out and will do so again.Reminded me of the links over in Ireland & England especially w/ the misty/cloudy like weather (1/19). However, playing in a twosome we got stuck behind a 4some playing from the blacks when some should stick w/ the white tee boxes. Guys w/ these hndcp. are doing this more and more and should be warned or enforced by the marshalls-they're slowing up play. Also, I'll bet anything these morons are being challenged by another player and getting their clocks cleaned. Stick to your true hndcp. and take the strokes you fools!

Played 1/13 in the afternoon. Pace was OK, same thing happended as the previous post, course backed up at the two par three's on the front side, then opended up on 10. Green's really firming up, and you need to hit a club shorter to allow for roll. The only way to score on this course is to know where the pins are and stay below them, ptherwise a 3 put is guaranteed.
