Nice conditions this morning, we were first off at 6 am... perfect weather. Check out the upgrades on #10. Reachable cross bunker in the fairway, and wider, meaner bunkers up the left as you approach the green.

Actually putted these tough greens well today, but couldn't manage to get on them quick enough... sigh. Last time I'm on the greens and 3 putt all day. What a great game.

Played 5-15. Course is in great shape, fairways, tee boxes and greens beautiful. Rough was pretty deep, but with fairways this wide, you should be penailzed for missing them. Greens are very tough, lots of break, and while probably a little slower than normal, still plenty fast. A little slow, but thanks to the starter for getting us out on 10 to start, probably saved us an hour at least. Played with Johnny GK and thanks again for a great round. Thankfully I had him with as it is a very tough course to play if you have never played it before.

Very interesting and different golf course. Certainly links style with wide open fairways and undulating greens. This golf course is very affordable and is always in good condition. Pace of play was slow because this golf course is very popular and fun to play.

Still a couple shortened holes & and ALL greens were being worked on when I played. Nice course.

My second time here. Last played in September of 2003. Saw a 5 foot rattler! C'mon guys...the only thing missing on some of the greens is a clown with the hole in his nose. The concept is great and a few of the holes are well thought out but, for the most part, this place has been over designed trying to be natural. Not a very hard course and fair from the blues for my 12 handicap game. You almost have to try to get into trouble except around the greens where a good shot can roll down a 30 foot hill. I thought the staff and facilities were very good but compared to what is within a 20 minute drive I think it's way over-rated. Probably worth a try if everything else is full but......

Played early Sunday, May 9. The first green was a riot of unrepaired ball-marks, but the remainder of the course wasn't quite so beaten up. Greens have recovered nicely from aeration and the new 7th fairway looks great - just like it once was. The cross-bunkers on 10 are a great addition. Fairways are in great condition and the rough is up enough now to make it quite a challenge, particularly in some of the areas around the greens and bordering the hazards. The greens yesterday were a good bit slower than I recall but remain challenging and fun. I continue to love this course for the uncommon test that it poses - so many holes look like pushovers from the tees, and then play very tough around the greens. There are always many options to play each hole (except #8, I suppose), and at every shot, the course demands that you think them through. To me, this is what good course architecture is about.

Played on Friday, May 1 at 12p. The positives: terrific layout, facilities, value, strategy/course architecture, course condition. The only negatives: Greens are slower than you think (although a lot of contour to make up for lack of speed) and pace of play. No question though, a must play in SoCal. Playing tips: some of the holes are deceptively long, so if in doubt, overclub. Greens are tough to hold, and many times, it's just better to chip it up...even from a long way out. Watch out for all the false fronts. The course designers did a great job!

The course is different. The fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. The greens are smooth and undulating. Considering the greens are mown tight they are grainy and slow. Don't fly balls to the back of the greens they will not hold. The rough is good on most of the course but there are some bad patchy spots. The bunkers are filled with ground up rock, sand, and dirt. They are playable but coarse to the clubs.
The course runs up one side of a valley and back on the other, a bit strange but has some interesting holes. The fairways are some of the widest I have played.
The staff was great. Overall it is a good course for the price but I would hardly call it the best course for a 150 miles as previously reviewed. I rarely play in LA or Ventura counties but in Riverside county several courses out class this course by a long shot for the same green fees to $15 more(SCGA Members Course, Oak Valley, PGA of So. Ca. both courses). There are also better courses in Orange county but cost a lot more. With that emotional outburst aside, the course was enjoyable and worth playing.

Course has recovered nicely from aeration. There are also several changes that have been made and are still being made. A new black tee box on 5, the rebirth of 7, new back tee boxes on 11 and 14 as well. Most notably, perhaps, is the addition of the cross bunker bisecting the 10th fairway and the addition of a Pot Bunker about 300 yards off the black tees.

The fairways are gorgeous, and the greens are rolling nicely, though still not quite up to their typically fast speeds.

For the record, the short fairway on 7 opens this Saturday, May 1 officially. It MAY be open on Friday, but the word is one of the two days for sure.

Please fix your ball marks, especially on 8!
