I played Saturday 1/29. There were very few people there, although I'm sure that will change. On the front nine, the first two holes are fine, then they send you over to the 150-yard marker of the 5th hole, which is reduced from a par 5 to a par 3. The 6th and 7th holes are under mud/silt, so the next hole is the 8th, followed by the 9th. The back tee boxes on the 9th are gone, so it is now a long par 4 from the ladies tees. The back nine is mostly OK, except for big erosion losses in the fairways of #11 and #18, and the loss of the back tee boxes on #14 (the drive over the baranca).
It was a very plesant day, although rather sad to see the damage to this fine course.

The greens are running slower than they used to -- probably an improvement, but it took some getting used to. Also, the scorecard now lists different rating/slope.

On 5/24 the twilight time moves to 3 PM, and the supertwilight to 5 PM.
Rustic Canyon has a new policy: If you reserve a tee time and don't fill your foursome (or get filled with standby's), you must pay for the full foursome. Be warned!
There's a sign outside the pro shop announcing green aeration this Monday, 3/29. I think that the plans for aerating in February got rained out.
I played today (10/5) and the damage from the aeration was vitually nil. It was only visible at all on a few greens.
I noticed an announcement on the bulletin board saying that the rates are going up on August 29th. It will be $50 per round on weekends. This is not surprising, considering the popularity and quality of the course.
Several comments have mentioned the smell on the 5 holes "over the hill." I believe that there is a sewage treatment plant next to the course there, so don't expect much improvement. Generally, when there is a good breeze blowing, you can't smell anything.
Also, I noticed that the rough has returned to its old, shorter, condition.

Played 36 holes on 5/17. Morning round (7:30 AM) was 4 1/2 hours, and afternoon (12:15 PM) was 5 hours. Not too bad, but I noticed that they are sending off groups every 7 minutes, and they still allow 5-somes. This is not conducive to fast play. Couse is in pretty good shape, although there was standing water in a bunker on the 5th.
