Played today May 23rd. Hot and windy.
An incredible Nicklaus golf course located literally in the middle of nowhere. And this is the amazing thing. Playing golf at Coyote Springs looks like playing in another planet.
I reached the course after a pleasant drive from Vegas in a desert land.
The course is in perfect conditions, greens were firm and fast. The huge practice area is impressive.
Really challenging layout specially on a strong windy day like today.
The lakes surrounding some of the holes of the course have the clearest water I ever seen on a golf course!!

Awesome course. I would advise spending a lot of time on the practice green as this is one wicked set of greens. Nearly all putts are going to be up and over a mound which puts a lot of emphasizes on touch. Greens were tour style fast and smooth. 25 foot putts are about the pace of a 3 footer on most muni courses. Off the tee seemed pretty easy but again a lot of emphasizes on approach shots knowing the severity of the greens. Good luck and when the ball is rolling back to your feet, just remember that the pros have this happen to them at Augusta every year.

Played this course for the 2nd time on 12/2/11. Played it previously a couple of years ago when there were big plans for the addition of more courses and a large housing development. The economy went south, the housing market crashed, and I feared for the future of Coyote Springs. As far as the course is concerned, those fears were without merit. This course is still fantastic! It is among the best manicured courses I have ever played. The Nicklaus layout is fantastic. The greens are typical Jack . . with huge undulations and diabolical pin placements. There are a number of tee boxes to choose from, anywhere from "you've got to be kidding me" to very playable for shorter hitters. The landing areas are generous, the fairways lush and gorgeous. The bunkers are filled with nice fluffy white sand that almost invite you to hit your ball into them so you can enjoy the PGA experience of hitting out of beautiful white sand. The housing development has not materialized, so this is a course still without the distractions of houses surrounding it. The only downside to our recent visit was that someone decided it would be ok to send a 5-some out . . when we finally caught up with them on the back 9 it slowed play to a crawl. Other than that, I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a PGA quality course at a less-than PGA price. Great course!!

Played this new course on Thursday 10/21/11 and found it to be tough and true to its name.. LOTS of opportunity to wash your ball in the many hazards on this beautiful course designed by Jack.. Great white sand bunkers and first class greens made an interesting if not overly long challenge. It's 50 miles North of Vegas and about 35 South and West of Mesquite. Looks like you will never find anything living on the way there but finally it appeared out of the desert .

Waterfalls on several holes make it very picturesque and the course was in first class shape with fast greens that challenged your ability to judge distances accurately.

Use of the great practice facility was included with our green fees and gas carts were a little loud but did their job well. We had fun but plan on a long drive from anywhere to get to this gem. They are working on a community to go with the course but that has been a little slow in the uptake.

Played Sunday afternoon 2PM on 3/21/10, on an overcast, breezy day with only a dozen cars in the parking lot. The course has spent a lot of money on landscaping and infrastructure and it shows – the holes and surrounds have a very finished and mature look, and grasses in the fairways, greens, and rough are well-established after only about 2 years from opening here.

Mounding separates the holes so you almost never see players on adjacent holes; the course plays down these shallow arroyos and will (may) eventually have homes perched on the tops of the ridges. There’s lots of trouble potential with sand and water strategically placed –there are LOTS of bunkers on this course. Greens are generally angled to the fairways, are fairly wide but not that deep – you need to approach the greens from the correct angle to be able to keep the ball on them. Course is in excellent condition – always had good lies in the rolling, heaving fairways ; lots of uneven lies, especially if you get away from the primary playing surfaces (i.e., if you aren’t hitting it very good!)

The fairly firm greens were quick and rolled great; many subtle undulations, and some with more severe mounding. Some greens are uphill to plateaus, perched above bunkers; the false front on #14 really killed me. I spent a lot of time in the bunkers, there’s lots of them – they are in great condition, with plenty of fairly heavy sand. Lots of water available; the course is still in toilets in portable trailers with bathrooms under construction, but the trailers did have lights, running water, etc. We hit into a lot of trouble and played as a 2-some in ~4.5 hours – never saw anyone behind us (I think we were the last group of the day), but never really caught the 4-some in front of us until #15.

This is a first-class operation. They’ve spent as lot of money on the drainage ways and amenities surrounding the holes for erosion control and visual character – however, stray off the grassed areas and you are in sandy waste, lost in the abundant vegetation, or in small rocks that swallow balls. I did manage to get a ‘rockie’ by punching out of one of those areas and making a curling 20-footer for a par, but my wedge begged me to never do it again.

This was to be the first of several courses and a mini-town development with up to 40,000 residents as a bedroom community commuting to Las Vegas. However, with the planned housing developments in the area collapsing and uncertainty regarding the future timing of planned development of the area, I’m not sure how long the course can stay viable – it’s a 2-hr round trip from Vegas and can’t be getting that much play. The gas carts are a little annoying and likely will be replaced when (if) the area develops more and the infrastructure for electrical power is available. The Clark County resident twilight rate of $70 without the forecaddie is very reasonable for a course of this quality in the greater Vegas area. Play it before the owner has to walk away. Recommended.

I played at noon when the green fee went down and it was worth the drive from LV. Beautiful desert and mountain surroundings and not a house built yet. Challenging and fun layout, excellent condition. A picture is worth a thousand words and there are some good photos posted here already that give you a great idea of how each hole played. Played the Chase back in May. The course is in incredible condition. Every aspect of the conditions are perfect. Great course. However...it is a long way outside of Vegas and there is NOTHING within 40 miles of the place: No fast food, convenience stores,gas stations, no anything but desert and mountains. I would guess you should play this course soon since I fear that their "planned community" around it will never get fully developed and the course will dry up and die.
