Went out for a second time at this course on the road to nowhere. Let me start by saying the conditions on this course are fabulous. Everything is pristine. My problem is all about the MOGULS everywhere just too over the top for my liking. Not a flat lie ANYWHERE. WHY?? I call this course PINBALL golf. Hit it down the middle and hope. Obviously not my favorite course but conditions are great. Venture if you like nothing within 40 miles of this course.

Awesome course!! My favorite course in vegas......kinda. Not sure if its considered vegas considering it is 60 miles from downtown. 25 miles north on I15 and 25 miles N on Highway 93. The drive is its only downfall but well worth it for those that want to make the trek. You wont be disappointed. I play mostly in the afternoons and they're is usually very few people there. I also play mostly in the summer months. Even during season it is rarely packed. This is a very challenging course and can be very difficult depending on your lie in the fairways. If you are unlucky you can have uneven lies all day long from the fairways. I paly it from the blue tees(6800yds.) which is perfect for me. If you are a long knocker you can test your game at 7500yd. Most of my friends play from the white tees at 6200yds. That is where I would recommend most golfers play from. Most of the time wind is a factor. Club selection is critical. This course is built on a terrain with very gradual slope. It took me a few times to figure out that holes playing "west" require more club for the yardage. The greens are very challenging. If you on are the wrong side of the hole or the wrong part of the green it will test all of your ability, no matter who you are. The greens are normaly fast and firm most of the times I have played here. When I played yesterday they were the softest Ive ever seen them. Im not sure why. One of the employees said the course was flooded a couple of weeks ago so that might of had something to do with it. The greens appeared to be top dressed with some sand. They still rolled very good but they were slower and softer than normal which made the course a little easier. I believe that they also have a free replay for the die hards. Excellent practice facilty!!!! Unlimited balls. Turf is perfect. Practice balls are in good shape with many target greens to choose from. Just a note. There is NO cell service out there! I could care less but I know that could be an important factor for some, especially if you are in vegas on "business". I know if you are going to call in sick to that corporate function you may need access to cell service. haha This is a fantastic course and very challenging and very enjoyable to play for those that are willing to make the drive.

Played 36 on Friday, 3/27, with John_T and his dad. Paid a special OB Card rate of $62, with free replay if you start before 11. 1st round took just about 4 hours, never seeing the 2some ahead or 3some behind us. 2nd round was right at 5, behind a 3some playing the blues (6800+ yards, 137 slope), who would not tee off until the 2some in front of them was putting, even on par 5s.

Customer service was good. Carts are set up where you pull into the lot and drop the bags right on. Great starter who controlled the flow at the 1st tee and included some tips about the course. Beverage cart was around multiple times on both 9s. Ice chests full of water were stationed under the bridges you pass through as you make you way around, plenty of opportunity to fill up. Very limited snack bar with deli sandwiches brought in from Vegas each day and a separate lounge to cool off in. Very nice all grass driving range (free), with plenty of flags to hit at, and a large practice green next to the starter.

Course was in awesome condition. Tee boxes were nice and level, with a few being a bit firm to get a tee in, and a couple that had been recently aerated. Fairways were lush green carpets, with no thin or brown areas. Rough was about 4 inches and just nasty to hit out. The ball will settle down but still can find it. Bunkers were full of soft fluffy sand, nice around the greens, a bit difficult in the fairways, better to roll into then catch on the fly. Greens were firm, smooth, and fast, I only saw a few ball marks all day.

Coyote Springs is absolutely in the middle of nowhere, about 1 hour out of Vegas. It's 20-30 minutes up the 93 once you leave the 15, but it seems like more. There's nothing around the course but desert and picturesque views. 2-3 holes, you don't see any other part of the course, causing even more of a secluded feeling. It reminded me a lot of Paiute, with the isolation, views and excellent conditions. Well worth the trip out, and the free replay is incredible (might as well make a day out of it with such a drive). Course is difficult, but very playable with wide fairways and bail out areas around most greens. Greens are very undulated, almost to the point of ridiculous, since if you are in the wrong area, you have no chance of stopping it near the hole. Overall, I would play here again, especially with the rate and replay. The drive is the only negative.

PLAY THIS COURSE!!

This course is a gem in the middle of nowhere and will surely challenge everyone who plays it. The fairways and tee boxes are in incredible shape. The greens seemed a little beat up--there were spike marks everywhere and it there were ball marks everywhere. However, the greens rolled incredible true despite the visual condition. The starter told us they were quicker rolling to the east and slower to the west and he was right. You will be punished if you miss on the wrong side of the cup. The fairways are full of undulations and paying attention to the elevation changes into the green is a must. Be prepared to hit every club in your bag but if you play smart you can post a good score. That being said, I think this is one of the most challenging courses I have played during my trips to Vegas and can't wait to play it again.

Played here Saturday, 11/8 with sixpez. We got an outstanding price for an 11:40 tee time thanks to TeeOff.com and their "deal" time promo codes. As everyone mentions, this course is way out there. Seriously feels like you're in the middle of nowhere. And even once you're there and checked in, the first tee is about a five minute drive from the pro shop. If you're into remote golf, this is your place.

This is also your place if you're into great golf. This is an excellent course in fantastic shape right now. The greens are fast and smooth. Fairways are lush, so is the rough and it's sometimes deep (3-5 inches). Tee boxes were nearly flawless, just the tiniest bit shaggy that prevented me from rating them a 10. The bunkers are not only beautifully sculpted, but also very penal. I found the sand to be very heavy and you had to work to extract the ball from the bunker.

Due to the location, it's unlikely that many people would play here on a regular, recurring basis, but the course layout and conditions certainly warrant that type of play. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Las Vegas or making a trip to Mesquite.

Itslikeimsayin and I played here on Saturday afternoon as the first stop on a quick Vegas golf weekend. We booked a special on TeeOff.com with a promo code that ended up being around $55 a player after all the discounts and fees. Fantastic deal for a top-notch course, even though it is so far out of the way near no other civilization. It seems they are still holding onto the dream of the bigger development here, but as of now it's still just a golf course in the middle of nowhere. In a way, that's one of the coolest things about it. The property is pretty spread out (long cart drive from clubhouse to first tee/range) and the routing is a bit wacky in places, but those are only minor inconveniences. The staff was nice and pretty casual upon check in for our 11:40 time. The parking lot didn't seem too crowded and the first tee was open, so it seemed like we were in for a pretty quick round. By the second hole, we caught the groups ahead and it was brutally slow after that. Cart girl yes. Marshal no. Ultimately, the round took about 5 hours, 15 minutes and we barely finished 18 before dark. That definitely took some of the enjoyment out of an otherwise great round on a fantastic course. Coyote Springs was in excellent condition all the way around. Super lush and green throughout tee boxes, fairways and rough. The rough here is thick and really penal as you'll almost always have an awkward stance, too. The rough around the greens (especially around the steep bunker mounds) is particularly nasty! The sand in the bunkers was good and the greens were also great. They did get fairly bumpy late in the day with all the spike marks, but the turf was in very good shape. Is the course worth going so far out of the way for? It's definitely worth checking out. The remote location offers a similar secluded feel and unobstructed scenery as Paiute and the quality of the course (design and conditions) are equally challenging and beautiful. I'd certainly rank it above most Vegas area courses I've played. Glad I finally got to check it out, especially when it's in such great shape and the weather is mild. They do need to manage the pace better, though. That was pretty awful. The only other thing I'd add is there is no GPS in the carts and the layout requires plenty of strategy, so if you are serious about it you'll probably want to invest in a yardage book at the pro shop.

What an amazing course. Has to be one of the best Nicklaus courses I have played. Each hole is memorable with character and visual beauty. The practice facility at Coyote Springs is equally amazing. Their all grass range is huge and along with their putting and chipping greens, everything is first class. I have no complaints about this course other than the distance from Vegas (its about a 50 minute drive from the Strip). Holes 9 and 18 are possible two of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring holes I have ever played. If you are in Vegas and you are looking for a place to play, make sure you make the trip to Coyote Springs. Tee Boxes: 9/10 Fairways: 10/10 Greens: 10/10 Rough: 10/10 Bunkers: 9/10 Customer Service: 9/10 Value: 9/10

Played 12/31 at 9:00 AM. 40° at start, 60° at finish. Sunny with no wind, quite pleasant. Yes, it is a long way out there. Not the middle of nowhere -- 15 miles past the middle of nowhere. About 50 minutes from the center Strip, add 20 minutes more if coming from Summerlin or Henderson. First tee time was 9:00 AM. Place was pretty much deserted -- a single, our threesome, and two other twosomes. Still took 4 hours to play -- lots of driving from green to next tee and lots of walking from cart parking at green to the green itself. First off, the greens are really ugly. Yes, they are smooth so they were playable, but lots of bare spots and lots of patching has occurred. Fairways and rough were great. But very few flat lies. Would be great for mogul skiing. And the fairways are very wide. You have to really try to miss a fairway. Bunkers all have fluffy white sand. How can there be fluffy white sand on a course where the wind blows? Because each bunker is as deep as a bomb crater. And there are lots of bunkers. Many are in the middle of the fairway. So, while the fairways are wide, you cannot hit it down the middle or you are in a bunker and can only wedge out. Course is 6200 from the whites which is a good yardage, but the slope is 132 so the bunkers make the course a real challenge. And every green has deep bunkers and quite a few holes have water. And most of the holes are not straight. Quite a few elevated greens with some blind tee shots and blind approach shots. Course plays tough -- somewhat like Wolf Creek in Mesquite just 60 miles down the road. It was an enjoyable round at $39. Until the greens are better, I won't go back. Nary a tree in sight, so it could be questionable if windy or hot. Cart service was sporadic. No restaurant. A table with a few snacks and a frig with a few drinks. But there is a truck stop at I15/US93 if you want to stock up before you get there. Almost forgot -- driving range is great. Grass everywhere and a nice practice putting green with no bare spots. It's too bad the guy who maintains the putting green doesn't do the greens on the course. And thanks to GKer mikelgabe for his incredible pictures. Really helped me to see them before I played the course.

Played here Friday as part of our Mesquite trip that we do every year. First things first - this course is Wayyyyyyyy out there. When you think you've driven far enough - keep going, it's there. This course doesn't start their tee times until 7am. Not sure why because when we got there at 6 45 for our 8 am tee time, it was already over 100 degrees out. I'd be upset if I lived out there and wanted to get out around 5 30/6 and they didn't start until 7. Pull up to the driving range and WOW. You have to make a trek to get to the range and the first tee from the club trailer (that's right - it's not a clubhouse, it's a trailer - like the ones we used to have classes in when the school was too cheap to build an actual building). The driving range was probably the BEST range I have ever seen. Tee boxes - There was really no difference from the backs and the next so we just made the call and went for it. Boxes were in decent shape, can't complain too much. Would give them a 8/10 due to a few uneven lies. Fairways - little thin. Since this place is so far out of the way I would imagine that they had to set up their own irrigation system or something like that. Didn't see any GIR so they must have thought it was pretty good to go as is. Would give it an 8/10 as well. Greens - Probably the best part of this course. I don't think there was one flat green on the entire course. VERY fast which was nice. Little hard, didn't hold shots too well but also didn't leave many divots. Would give these an 8/10 as well. Rough - grass rough was a little long. Nice and healthy and definitely made shots difficult. Desert area rough was clean for the most part but there were a few areas that needed a little love. Rough will get a 7/10. Bunkers - Sand was nice and fluffy. They didn't drag the bunkers like most courses do but instead had nice beach sand. Bunkers get a 9/10. Pace of Play - HORRENDOUS. I think we ended up waiting about 10-12 minutes on EVERY shot. Teed off at 7 40 (got out ahead of a 4 some since we were just a 2 some), and finished after 1. Cool thing is that the replay is complementary. So, we asked the starter and the pro shop if it was open or what (we had just finished our round in 2.5 hrs the day before as a two some at Tuscany, so we know we can fly around if it's open). Figured maybe we'd get a sub 4 hr round in on the replay. Got back to the first tee - waiting. Got through the 3rd, and figured we'd skip #4 and go right to 5 since we were on the 4 some in front of us. They were cool with it so off we went. Got up to #5 and guess what.....waiting. We labored through 9 more holes in the 115+ degree heat and then decided to pack it in. Pace of play gets a 1/10. I don't expect to play in less than 4 hours, but I also don't expect a 5+ hr round at a course like this.
