My wife and I played in a SLO County Tournament. It was a team game, best net on 1, two best nets on 2, three on three, then go back to 1 best net on 4. Doris, with her 34 handicap, carried all of us. Course was in good condition despite being newly purchased earlier this week. They had all new people working there, and several workmen around maintaining the course. Hopefully the rates won't increase. It is one of the best courses on the Central Coast and an OK value, $50.00 including cart and range balls for our tournaments. I was in just one bunker, and the sand was quite deep. But the ball came out as expected.

Played 10-24-19 with Alex first out joining another twosome and finishing in about 3 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were mostly in good shape, semi-lush and mostly level with a little divot damage on a couple of the par threes. Fairways were very nice, lush with great lies but a little on the soft side so not much roll out. Rough overall was in good condition with some spots a little thicker than others but mostly a couple inches longer than the fairways. Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be well groomed. Greens were in great shape, semi-soft and rolling very smooth at medium/fast pace. Fun challenging course with nice elevation changes and a couple lakes that can come into play. As Alex said great Golf Moose deal and well worth playing with the nice conditions.

I got the invite to join fellow GK’er RGM2525 at Cypress Ridge and couldn’t pass up the opportunity since I’ve only played this course one other time. We teed off at around 7:20 AM as the first group out. Overall the course conditions are very nice right now. I’ll start in the middle as the fairways were awesome. Very lush and green throughout and never presenting a bad lie. Tee boxes weren’t bad. I remember one par 3 being particularly chewed up and one of the par 4 boxes being unlevel. Other than that all was good on the Tee. I never hit a single bunker, fairway or greenside so I can’t say what the traps were like.

The Greens…. Odd and tricky; but smooth and fast (some of the time). I fully admit that I struggled all day on the greens. Mainly with the speed and then with my lines as I started focusing on the speed and less on the direction. But that was on me. The greens rolled smooth. No issues there whatsoever. They didn’t seem to hold approach or pitch shots very well. Yet, they were soft enough to leave pitch marks. Again, odd and tricky.

The layout is fun with some slight elevation changes on a number of the holes. A couple of the holes even have a (very slight) peek at ocean off in the distance. Being the first ones off in the morning we set the pace with our foursome. There was a mini-tournament behind us and they were easily 2 holes behind so we didn’t have any pressure.

There’s a Golf Moose deal right now that makes it well worth playing given the all around nice conditions of the course.

Rode the Blues (6443/71.3/128) early morning with Mike, playing on a GM 2 person deal. The POP was slightly over 3.5H, playing in sunny, calm conditions in the low 60's. My first time here. Reminded me of several courses I played outside Portland, which considering Peter Jacobson was the designer is not a surprise. Lots of elevation changes, rolling hills, tight, tree lined fairways and large, sometimes severe greens. Mostly poa annua grass throughout the course. The tees had good coverage and were good to play from. The rough close to the fairways was not too tall but was thick/penal. Rough farther from the fairways was 1-2' tall, forget it, lost ball. The fairways were good to play from. Lots of undulation on the fairways here. The sand was nicely maintained. More fine dirt than sand, but I found it to be good to play from. The large greens were firm and quick, especially downhill. I had trouble with these greens, both in reading them and with the speed. Extremely poor putting day but still came away feeling like the greens rolled very well. The customer service was good from all encountered. Busy driving range and they have a putting and chipping practice area. Carts are basic, no GPS. Very nice layout, fun course in very good condition. Recommended.

This round was played on Saturday June 2nd. Tee time was for 7:30. Landed up playing by myself, despite them trying to pair me with another single, but they never showed up.
First tee, the starter literally was not feeling his job. Cranky old man. Next thing, check the yardages before you play. Especially on this course, with a TON of elevation changes the white tees are fairly short. Under 6,000 yards. There is a "combo" tee with whites and blues, but never saw them while playing the Blues.

This course was in GREAT shape. I had a local email me some help to play each hole which helped quite a bit throughout the day. One difficulty about this course was hitting on severe downslopes and upslopes. The greens were moving quite fast, which made for a good day on the greens!

The course is quite broken up, there is a few times, that if you aren't looking for signage, you might land up in the wrong spot. The front nine crosses itself, and the back 9 starts with 9-13 together, and then 14-18 on the other side and around the clubhouse.

Most of all the holes are right in front of you, and you can see where you want to hit your shot, there are a few holes, where you need to hit around or over trees, hole 14 is take it around the eucalyptus, but you need to make sure you don't hit it left and into the houses, which have nets around them(many holes) or you can attempt to hit it over, which I did with a Hybrid. Hole 15 is a short Par 4 which requires a straight shot through the trees to a protected green with a pond right and a bunker left.

On the front 9, the 8th hole was probably the toughest hole on the entire course. You are hitting up to a fairway that has a ton of elevation, OB left, and OB and trees right. But if you cut the right corner you will either be in two fairway bunkers or in between, which I was. But you still wont have a few of the green because it still rises up to a well protected green.

All in all this was one of my favorite courses I have ever played. The course from 1-18, was in front of you, but kept you on your toes with so much elevation changes +/-. Know that the greens are fast, and you will have some awkward lies throughout the round. But if you want to play a course through the hills of Arroyo Grande, this is your course!

Played today as a walk-on getting off at 8:40. Used a Costco coupon for the "free" round and paid an additional $15 for weekend morning priority. Also they charge a cart free at all times before noon on weekends which is stupid (I walked anyway).

Was a little damp in the morning but quickly warmed up to a beautiful day. Everything is solid but not spectacular. Greens were a but bumpy with lots of divot damage. They sped up markedly once things started heating up. Fairways were good and very green with solid coverage everywhere. Rough was often long and wet. Not a lot of thin lies but some fluffy dirt patches were present. Bunkers looked pretty typical with a good layer of dune sand. Tee boxes okay to good all around for the black markers. They have seed available on the par 3s to fill things up. POP was right around 5 hours which is not a shock for Thanksgiving weekend. Not beverage cart was driving around that I could see. Normal rack rate is too much for area and conditions, especially if they're throwing a mandatory cart fee on top of normal greens fees (Seriously? This is your business practice?) Still a solid track with good conditions, just overpriced.

Played 9/2 with my dad, teeing off at 8:30 on an uncharacteristically hot day in Arroyo Grande, as temps reached 100 before cooling off.

The course, always being in great shape with good greens, seems to be falling off a bit. The greens weren't consistent, some being quick and others being slow. Some greens had small puncture holes in them. Not so much a full punch, but little ones that altered the putt just enough. The course was very wet, and I experienced many plugged shots on the green and some even in the fairways.

Rough was the highlight of the course. Thick and really grabbed your club just about anywhere on the course. We even lost a few balls even though we had good ideas where they entered.

Tee boxes were pretty beat up. As it's a shorter course, target golf type of course, many people opt for irons off the tee on many of the par 4s, and as a result the divot damage is pretty bad. Also, some tees are pretty uneven.

Fairways were consistent, but as I mentioned pretty wet. Nice to hit off of and felt good compressing a well hit iron shot.

Bunkers had thick, sometimes wet sand. Tough to play out of.

Overall, I wouldn't pay the full rack price for this course. It's nice, and has the bones to be a great competitive course, but right now it seems that it's losing its luster, especially for the price.

All I can say is WOW.

All I can say is WOW.

The course is awesome. Fantastic even. I will knock the course a little though for their clubhouse. Here you are pulling into this facility and you see an awesome practice area, a few of the holes, and then a clubhouse that looks like they grabbed a couple double wides and smashed them together.

Greens - 8/10. ONLY reason this is being knocked down is because there were about 3 holes that they didn't mow and roll. They were shaggy and WAY slower than the rest of th course.

Boxes - 9/10. Generally you could find some great areas to hit from with plenty of grass. Few of the boxes were on some uneven lies but nothing that would impact most golfers.

Fairways - 76/10. This is where I have an issue with the course management here. Quite a few of the fairways were soaked - like the kind where you stand there and it's squishy under your feet. Not sure how much if any rain that they got, so I don't know if it's a management issue or a drainage problem. Nothing worse then trying to hit and getting 5 inches deep because it's so wet. But - I will say that they were all green all the way through and a few warm days would probably have this place being a gem in no time.

Rough - 8/10. Pretty consistent here...thick stuff all around but definitely playable on all holes.

Sand - 7/10. Thick on most of the bunkers that I was lucky enough to find myself in.

Will definitely play this course again if I'm in the area.

Played on 8-27 with a group of 4. Happened to fall into a special they were running that weekend, so we paid 50 bucks for cart and 18. Weather was perfect, and the course was wide open. Teed off at 2pm, and finished around 6:45. Course fairways were in excellent condition, as were the greens. Some tee boxes were pretty ate up, especially those on the par 3s, but for the the most part everything was in great condition. The only knock on this course is its small driving range. I'm a longer hitter and can only go up to my 4 iron.
