This was my first time out at Tijeras Creek, played with GK member: doctor_swiz . I am kicking myself for not trying this course before. I have been missing out.

First off, from when you drive up, to the staff. This plays feels like a private course. Huge practice facility, 2 large putting greens and a very upscale atmosphere....but that is the thing, with the creek card, the price is beyond fair! This is the best bargain in OC!

Let's move on to the course.

The front 9 i completely different than the back 9. I enjoyed both, good thing i brought extra golf balls for the back.

The one strange tee box is #10. it is literally on top of the putting green. I found this very annoying and quite odd. I loved every hole. I will be back, very soon!

Tee boxes were in great shape, plenty of grass and level. Sand refills on all par 3's which was nice.

Fairways are GREEN, lush grass and very picturesque. For a heavily played public course, the fairways were beyond impressive! Kudos to the workers.

The rough...was, well, well, well ROUGH! and i mean penalizing rough. at least 6-7" high and the ball could be in front of me and I cannot see it. A few times took me awhile to find it and it was only a few feet from the fairway. Let me tell you again, that rough is ROUGH! Better add a few strokes if you find this stuff.

The sand was harder than I am used to but was easy to get out of. I found them all to be raked and no real issues here.

The greens were in my opinion on the SLOW side. many downhill puts came up short and flat putts came up quite a bit short because they were a lot slower than they looked. A few were quite bumpy as well. However they are in great shape and not many ball marks at all. I was quite impressed.

played today in the GK event. This is my second time here in the last month or so. I must say the course is much greener and in much better condition than the last time.

It rained the day before and there were spots of muddy areas and of course i found all of them! This is not the courses fault.

customer service is great, free valet.

FOR THE RECORD.... Hole #3 this time = PAR. On in 2 and 2 putt. I am improving here!

Tee boxes were level and in much better shape!

Fairways are greener and less thin spots, rough is in great shape.

greens are is far better shape, less coot poop. Only gripe is speed is inconsistent but then again it rained yesterday.

my ONE complaint...The GPS in the cart is not that great. The pictures are way out of proportion. Shows narrow fairways when they are not, shows water very far when its very close. Also, the pin placements on the GPS were NOT where the pins really were and I mean total opposites.

had a great time with my fellow GK'ers and as always, THANKS JOHNNY FOR SETTING UP THIS EVENT!

Decided to give it another chance. Tee time was for 11:44am. Didn't go out until 12:30pm because earlier in the morning they started an hour late because of frost?

Anyway, for $60 it was a good round. The course is in much better shape than last month.

However, the POP was 5 hours + and that was brutal.

Tee boxes were in better shape, but people need to learn to to use the divot mix!

Fairways were healing from the ground under repair and less bare spots. Still thin!

Rough was in great shape. Lush and green! about 2-3" max

Greens were rolling true and quick. A LOT of ball marks but its to be expected on a public course. Didn't see any bare spots.

The staff is always great here. I have always encountered friendly people from the bag drop to pro shop to the starter.

Played yesterday 2/10/2013 in the GK Play. Tee time 11:40am.

Had a great time with my fellow GK'ers. Big thanks to Johnny for setting this up. I am more prepared to play again on 3/9 for the event. I will play many holes differently next time around.

customer service - top notch. from showing up and being greeted by the valet to the pro shop to the starter. First class customer service!

Tee boxes - they were level and only gripe would be they were set very close together. The tee box grounds were huge but the markers were set very close together (width wise).

fairways - some was great and others were punched and dirt, no grass. I had a lot of nasty lies in the middle of the fairway. especially hole #2.

bunkers - The ones I found, they were in great shape. Nice sand and hard under neath so the balls were not buried.

greens - where do i start. they are huge and very undulating. I thought the speed was great, they are fast and i liked them. however i do NOT like #3 green. pin position impossible if you are on the lower level and pin was on top left. 6 putt! yes 6 putt for me! Good thing i made up for it with 3 birdies on the back. #18 was terrible! I was shocked when i got on the green (after driving into the water off the tee). Coot crap ALL over and the green was hammered. Did not leave a good impression.

Worth the green fee (rack rate) - No way! It is lacking a lot to be a $185+ price. However I loved the lay out and would play again for a heavily discounted price.

tee'd off at 7:12am with a buddy of mine who has never played here. Payed $90. POP 3:45 which was great!

Fairways are dormant. Very thin and bare spots all over. A lot of mud and ground under repair.

Rough was in better shape, lush and a bit wet.

Greens were rolling true, a lot of ball marks and bump areas.

tee boxes were NOT level and many were beat up.

In all fairness, this is the worst shape I have seen this course. Definitely NOT worth the green fee! And I have played here quite a few times.

Played at 8am this morning. Used my free round from the costco deal. It was quite cold this morning and lots of dew on the fairways and greens.

Tee boxes in great shape and level.

Fairways were lush grass and some thin areas. But overall very good. Carts were 90 deg rule on most holes and some were even cart path only.

Greens were soft and a bit fuzzy. Rolled true but on the slower side in my opinion. However they were in great shape!

The rough was lush and about 3-4" long. Was a good length and wasn't too punishing.

Had a great round, a little over 4 hours.

My only real gripe is the driving range. What a rip off. For their green fee's i was very shocked that balls were not included.
