Played on 10/15 in a tournament. Overall conditions were excellent. Fairways very lush, and tee boxes in nice shape. The greens had been punched with small holes at the beginning of the month, and seemed to be healed fairly well. They were a little fuzzy and needed to be cut, which kept the line of putts not quite so good. I always look forward to playing here, and will be back soon.

Played on 10/8 with the GK event. I loved the greens here! If you missed a put, it was your fault. Since this was my first time playing here, I was a little intimidated on the tee on a few holes. Probably cost me a couple of strokes not knowing where I was going. Overall a great experience, and look forward to coming back soon. My only complaint was the bunker on the right side of hole #9. I wasn't in it, but looking at it made me think it was a little unfair, I could never understand huge lips on a bunker 200 yards out. Just sayin'...

Thanks again Johnny for a great event!

Played 8/7. The course is in great shape for the most part. Greens we're really rolling well. My only complaint would be the rather scrappy rough in some areas. Overall pace was pretty good - 4 1/2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Not bad!

Played on 7l24. mcaro was right, except that now all of the greens had the punch holes. Evidently, there having some problems right with the poa creeping in, but to pro shop said give it a couple of more weeks. Otherwise, the course is in great shape. Olivas has suffered from slow play lately, as I guess due to budget issues, that had to let the marshalls go. The course was pretty busy, but not busy enough to justify a 5 1/2 hour round. I could see a few wide open holes as the day went on. The group in front of us had one hole open in front of them most of the day. And despint that, we never saw the group behind us all day.

Played on 3/27. Cart path only for the front nine after the rain. Fairways were pretty decent, but the tee boxes were a little shaggy - not enough to worry about. Greens were excellent! We played in 4 hours on a Sunday for twilight. I hope to be back soon.

Played 3/5 for a practice round before the SCGA qualifier next week. Really slow play - almost 6 hours. The course was in typical condition of Griffith Park. Lots of bare spots in the rough areas. So if you misseed a fairway, it was hit or miss as to what kind of a lie you would have. Greens were rolling pretty well for the most part. Bunkers OK if you weren't in unraked footprints. I feel sorry for the crew that will have to mark ground under repair for the tournament. Hope the bring enough spray paint. Maybe they should just say the entire course is GUR. :-)

Played Olivas today (12/12) for the first time in a couple of months. Pretty dissapointing. Front nine greens were fuzzy, bumpy and slow. Seemed like they hadn't been cut in a while. Back nine was a little better, but not much. Most of the fairways are dormant and brown, but played well. I'm sure it's just the weather, as this course is usually immaculate. Better luck next time.

Playaed in a tournament on 9/18. I love this course. It was in excellent shape for the most part. I wish I played here more often, as the greens can be a little tricky sometimes. Fairways were just a little thin, but quite playable. My only complaint was the pace of play - 5 1/2 hours! The group in front of has had 3 decent players and one absolute beginner. Unfortunately, I didn't see a marshall all day. Fortunately, I had a great time with my group. I'll be back soon.

Played 8/22. Overall conditions pretty good. Greens rolled quite well, with the exception of #6. They rebuilt that grren several years ago, and it has never been good. I think it's time they rip it out and start over. Bunkers looked good, but were difficult to play out of - dirt over concrete for the most part. The new tee boxes are great, and the addition of black tees add a new chellenge to some of the holes. New shorter white tees on a few holes make it more realistic for shorter hitters. Now, if people who should be playng white tees would actually play them, it sure would help with pace of play.

Played 8/14. I played here about a month ago, and what a difference! Immaculate conditions (with the exception of a lot of unrepaired ball marks). The new management has done an incredible job of making this a premier course. And 31$ at twighlight (1PM) on the weekend is an incredible deal. Forget about the jacked up prices at the L.A. munies, and head to the Ventura county courses. You'll be glad you did.

Played 8/7 twilight. Front nine played pretty quick - less than two hours. Back nine slowed a bit, but overall good pace. The course was in OK shape. Not as good as I've seen it. Way too many ball marks on the greens. They also weren't rolling as quick as they normally are. Fairways were a little thin, but playable. I always enjoy this course. I consider myself to be an excellent putter (ave. 28 putts per round). But I've played here probably 100 times, and still can't figure the greens out :-(

Played on 7/25. Got right out as a single. The course was in decent shape except for a few greens. #9 was horrible - really chewed up. #10 was being worked on. I swear there were four different kinds of grass patches. It was like they were experimenting to see what would grow in the best. This is really a great course. I sure hope they get the greens together.
