Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played 3/10/23 @ 710. The course was in great condition... Tee boxes level with good coverage, fairways were really nice with no brown spots anywhere. Rough was almost non-existent and was only slightly longer than the fairway. I was only in one greenside bunker and the sand was nice and fluffy, the fairway bunkers looked good although I wasn't in any. Greens were rolling nice and got faster later in the morning. This course will not beat you up with length, but it demands accuracy. Houses are definitely in play if you are spraying your ball all over the place. This is a great warm up course or a course you would play on your last day on a golf trip. This is not a destination course by any means...
Played 11/6/22 @ 120pm- bad idea! The course was packed to the gill! It seemed like they only left 5 minutes between tee times which was ridiculous! My group was able to finish in the dark though. Course was playing really nice, but we were constantly waiting which just adds to the "enjoyment" and frustration of fighting with swing thoughts. Back to the course... Tee boxes were nice and level with occasional pitcher's mounds. Fairways were pretty awesome, they were lush and had great cushion underneath them- no bare spots at all. Rough was easy to hit from and not too penal, it probably depends on what time you play because I did see some really thick parts. Greens were rolling fast and true and really receptive to iron shots. If I had to guess it would probably be around 10-11 on the stimpmeter. Sand traps had different types of sand in them. The fairway traps had more rocks and pebbles than the greenside ones. The greenside bunkers were way better- great fluffy sand that was easy to hit out of. Oh, the other thing you have to contend with is the wind. The course is in a kind of "bowl" that does all kinds of things to the wind. I was playing hole 7 (par 4) into the wind and then hole 8 (par 4) with the wind- and they are both going the same direction. I would definitely play here again on a weekday and enjoy myself.
Played 9/16/22 0830 tee time. Tee boxes were nice and level for the most part with the par 3s a little chewed up. Fairways had some nice coverage with occasional brown spots here and there. Sand traps were a crap shoot- some were nice and had sand in them, some were just dirt with all kinds of rocks! The greens were something else... I have never seen them this bad before! The greens are hard as a rock and didn't hold approach shots at all. You almost have to play links style and roll everything up to the green. I tried to fix a couple of other ball marks and the grass was sticking to my divot tool because it was so dry and brittle. I spoke to the marshal and they said because of the drought they had water restrictions so they can't water them everyday. I asked him how can you have a water restriction for reclaimed water?! It didn't make any sense to me! Then he came back with- they're going to punch them in two weeks anyway. I hope they can do something because this is one of my favorite local tracks and I would hate to see them lose their greens.
Played 9/11/22 @ 11am and it was HOT!! Tee boxes were nice and even from the blues, they're not too beat up on the par 3s either. Fairways with great coverage, occasional thin spots here and there but everywhere has grass. Rough not too penal but just enough to affect your shots. Sand traps had great sand in them. Greens on the other hand were good on the front nine but horrendous on the back nine! It was almost a night and day difference. Most of the greens in the back had some sort of disease that made them bumpy with a lot of clumps and bare spots in between the clumps. I don't know how to describe what they had going on, but putting was not fun at all. The clumps and bumps made the ball go everywhere- bouncing and hopping off line. I hope they are able to fix the greens because it's a fun layout.

Played 9/10/22 @ 10am with a Golf Moose coupon. Rained on and off for most of the round. The course had great coverage throughout. Tee boxes were mostly level with the par 3s having some tilt on them. Rough was just 2 inches longer than the fairway, just enough to affect your club going through it. Sand was nice and fluffy in the two traps I was in. Greens were rolling great with subtle breaks on them, the speed was great. The course is playing really nice right now. I was able to go around twice since the Santa Rosa course was closed for play due to flooding.
Played 9/9/22 just before it started raining. Played the North/South combo from the blacks. Tee boxes mostly level with the par 3s a little chewed up. Most of the course had great coverage, no bare spots anywhere- there were some thin spots here and there though. Sand traps had great sand in them. Greens were rolling really good. The only thing about the desert is that most of the pro shops right now close at 12pm so there's no way to sneak a twilight round in. But if you get there before 12pm, they will usually let you go around twice and only pay for one... I would rate this as a second tier course- (this isn't Desert Willow or PGA West). If you want to experience something different, this definitely different.
Played 8/13/22 @ 12pm, caught up with a another single and we played as a twosome. The course is in rough shape right now. The lady in the pro shop said that they just re-opened from their maintenance and it shows. Tee boxes were great and level, fairways had great coverage but there were trouble areas here and there. Sand traps had wonderful sand in them. The greens had just come off aeration and they SUCKED! I couldn't get the speed right all day, they were bushy and slow. I would give this course at least 2 months before I would come back.
Played 8/12/22 @ 130pm and man it was HOT! Teed off early and it was 103 degrees with almost no one on the course. It was great for me- I was able to finish in 2 hrs 45 mins, a single tried to catch up to me but he couldn't play fast enough and gave up. Hadn't played this course since they shut it down to redesign it. The pro shop said they took out a lot of the brush out and redid all the green complexes. I noticed a lot of the sight lines have changed and the course seems more wide open. Tee boxes were nice and level, the fairways had great coverage with no bare lies unless you're in the desert/waste areas. Sand traps had some really nice fluffy sand. Greens weren't fast or slow but there are very subtle breaks that drove me crazy. All in all I would wait a couple of more months to play here again. I really enjoy the layout, but I'm not a Greg Norman fan at all...
Played 5/21/22 @ 12p on a teeoff.com deal. Course was great like usual, but the greens were rolling really slow for some reason. This is one of my favorite courses in the desert so my review is a little biased. Tee boxes were level with some par 4s being uneven, but a level spot is easy to find. Fairways were really nice and green with great coverage. Rough not very penal unless you're way off and then you got other things to deal with. Sand traps were nice and fluffy, but I think if you play earlier they would have been probably played different since they water this course a lot. Greens are another story, I'm used to them being a whole lot faster than they were, but they were rolling good at least. A couple of them rolled better than they looked because of some patches and some contrasting colors. It was a busy day and I was happy to see the resort was fully opened, it was depressing seeing such a beautiful resort empty and closed during COVID...
Played 5/17/22 at 1pm on a really busy Tuesday, the course was packed to the gill! The "ambassadors" kept everything going smoothly though. I thought it was gonna be another one of the 5 1/2 hour LBC rounds (El Do, Skylinks, Lakewood)... It was a great surprise when we finished at just over 4 hours. Course was in great shape tee to green right now. Tee boxes level with the par 3s a little chewed up, fairways were great! No bare spots anywhere. Sand traps were playing nicely (at least the two that I was in). Greens were really nice and were rolling great! The one that stood out was hole 5 par 3 (it was playing uphill that day). That green was brand new! The grass looked so good that I thought it was fake. Had an awesome day on one of my favorite courses.
Played 5/18/22 7am tee time. Haven't played here since they started making people prepay when making an online reservation. I found out that you can call in your reservation and not prepay (it's difficult since I usually have 8 people playing). Back to the course... Several holes are cart path only right now- 1, 11, 12, 15, 16. Tee boxes level most of the time, fairways with some fairly tight lies but the ground was softer in the morning because of all the watering they're doing. Rough was juicy and wet. Sand traps were a mixed bag- some with hard packed dirt due to all the watering, and some were pretty compacted (maybe because it was early). Greens were rolling great, few ball marks here and there but for the most part they were nice. It was great to make it out here again after almost a year and a half, I'll be taking my group here more often.
Played 6/18/21 @ 0620am paired with a fairly fast group- but we ended up finishing in 3.75 hours due to the group in front of us. Customer service was awesome and very welcoming. I played this course a long time ago and I didn't remember many of the holes. The course is a pleasure to play (although a little steep for non-residents $120 w/cart). Very hilly, but there were a few local walkers in the a.m. and they were movin'! Tee boxes are level and had good coverage except for the par 3s which had some divot issues, but at least you're hitting from a flat surface. Fairways were lush with a ton of mowers everywhere, but the ball sat up nicely and are great to hit from. There were a couple of times when it was a little spongy in the low spots but the course drains well. The rough is a little longer than the fairway and balls were easy to spot unless you're way off line and then it's either in the woods or some really thick grass. Sand traps were great and were very consistent (both fairway and greenside). They have nice medium weight sand that is very easy to get the club under and played wonderfully. Greens are medium/fast and the ball rolled great. There weren't that many ball marks since we were out early. The 18th hole is an awesome finishing hole and is easily reachable in two if you have a good drive. My only other suggestion is to not use a yellow ball on the first hole- the driving range is right next to the tee box and they use bright yellow range balls...
