Have seen this course constantly during a TV show I watch-decided to try it. Apparently the 4th ownership group since 1980's ( tells you something) co owner is starter.

Flat, non-descript layout. Fairways, tees horrible. Grass looks like been underwater for weeks. As I drove up, I thought of Sam Snead's comment when he first saw St Andrews from the train-" looks like an old, abandoned golf course out there".

What a sad course looks like with no money put in. And gas carts! 1970.

If you can remember El Rivino- this is cousin. Greens ok, but Fla greens are diff grass- all slow.

1st off pace of play no problem 2.5 hrs. Sorry mess

Got off around 6am ish today - even played thru on 1st tee thankfully- that group- # 5 on day- finished 2 holes behind our 3 1/2 hr walk. Saw no marshalls- no wonder course backs up incrementially when these little gaps go unattended.

As mens clubber here- it's tough to play a weekend event due to pace.

Of course snack bar closed at 12 tee.

Greens slowly coming back- waffle effect minor but bumpy. Rough has been let go so it is long as it should be.

Fairways horrible. Tee boxes horrible.

Poor conditions + normal pace of play discourages coming here- only when you can tee off at dawn is it tolerable.

Faded glory gives it a " Blanche Dubois" feeling. Luckily, got charged resident rate.

Played with vendor invite 4-15 around noon. For a private course , pace was horrible, slow. Too many tees off from back tees hitting 120 pop ups. Fairways not cut, long- may as well be in rough. Greens bumpy, sand crusty.

Layout borrowing, noisy by 605. Visuals are big electric steel transformers. Nice clubhouse. Would pass on this a private club option.

Off 20 minutes late- Moron's running course

Greens were sanded- did they tell us that when we made reservation? no. Moron's running course

Pace of play- over 5.5 hrs? Moron's running course

Tournament in front of us- did they tell us that when reservation made? no, it's an "outing".
Moron's running course.

I've gone out here on Sat @ 5am to be 1st on waiting list as single; I ask groups I join up with how they got early time since nobody was in line. Response: They pay off the pro shop guy. Typical AGC operation.

Amercian Golf in 2 words- More Ons!

Will never play a county course again.

Off Sat 3rd group. What a blast walking 18 in the rain- raingear, towels, umbrella's, etc. Rest of group quit after 9 so back was wide open pace.

Excellent layout- no side by side holes. P4's are all unique in shot requirements. Wish they would open up old elevated tee on 15. P3's all managable & fun to play ( missed ace on 17 by 6"-nerts!).

Greens very tough to read- subtle breaks thruout. Very very fast till rain slowed them down. Fairways good, no rough. Sand in bunkers ok. Pro shop staff accomodating. It is very hard to get off waiting list even if 1st on normal weekend days.

Top 10 course.

Played in 1st group w/reg 2some Thur 6:24.

Pace was 2 carts-2hr 20min. Can't believe I used to walk this course. No more.

Conditions: Must respectifully disagree in part w/prior post. Yes, greens are great ( mite slow) and sand needed in traps, really so early am when wet conditions.

Fairways do have some brown spots, but not hardpan all around. Not Goose Creek, but not Cresta Verde.

IMO rough is nowhere near dirt/holes-spotty in some place, more so the further into it you go, but overall about 1.5 inches.

Layout: I love elevated tee shots- there are plenty on this course. Lots of fun to play. Some uphill greens ( 18). Par 3's excellent. 6100 from back tees not long. Narrow holes offer some defense.

I think it's $55 to ride on weekend- will only play it once in a while. Rather spend $35 to walk somewhere like Shandin.

Played a Rancho Mens Club match play Sat 7am- done in little over 4 hrs. HOT.

Expecting a Links of Victoria conditioning- suprised.

Fairways in very good shape. Overwatered in spots but due to heat- just a few bare spots.

Rough 2", thick. Ball drops, buried. 1/2 stroke penalty to get out.

Tees fine, flat. Not in sand so no comment.

Layout flat, long, boring. Big greens, wide fairways. Not on rotation but in a pinch ok. Mid $40's to walk way too much. At least goose dropings cleaned off near clubhouse.

Greens big, smooth, fast, true. Can't ask for better.

Added bonus was playing w/RPMC member former MLB Jerry Royster- great guy, long.

July 4th Once a yr play- can't get on on weekends.

1st off with riding 2 some- POP 3:20 brisk walk.

A favorite course- excellent mix of p3's, good variety on holes. P5's all the flat straight.

Tough p4 stretch on front.

Greens excellent rollwise - slow, could not adjust. Cost shot at 70's.

Tees excellent. Fairways good not great. No rough. Not in sand but observation is thin.

Bonus was watching a bluebird dive bombing a cat walking on course- could hear brid screeching 150 yrds away.

Same price has LA City to walk. Fun course to play.

Sat 4-27 of in 5th group- 4 walkers in 3:55- excellent pace.

I can now report bad news: One of the best starters around is, as SF Giants voice Duane Kiper says, " Outttaaa Hereeeee!". Has apparently moved on to Penmar. He always got early waiting list off, and was there at 5am so listers' would not have to stand in line for an hour waiting. Great guy. Marco also good -will take over.

Course in best shape ever. Tee boxes for starters were full, lush, no dirt, ect. Course s/b lush now & it is. Greens recovered - are great- smooth, quick. All factors in nice round of 78.

9th hole still tough to par- long with tiny green.

Don't know why the snack bar isn't open around 7:30 to catch early groups looking for a cup of joe.

Wilson punched this week- nobody on it. Nice note- week of punching they charge twighlite green fees ; not valid on the following weekend. Still better to avoid- that's purpose of GK.

Layout good, some variety. P3's as with Wilson all seem same length.

Nice feature is walking down18 hearing the zoo friends waking up hungry.

$40 Sat? S/b $35.

Sat 4/13 in 3rd group- 3.5hrs walking

Course is long from Blue-6,850. Long P4's all day

Good P3- all in 175-80 range. 2nd P3 on front nice hole over water.

18 is brutal up hill 420ish

Fairways were A+... green, cut, thick. Ball stood up great. Rough was long, thick.

Greens were excellent.

Overall conditions- best of year even tho they should be.

Course itself outside of a few hole mundane, but conditions make it good place to play.

Wanted to visit " Victoria of OC"....

Suprised at condition.

Off in 1st group Sat- walked front in 1.5- ran into back 9ers on 15- 2-hrs.

Course was green- few bare spots if any. Fairways way overwatered. Tight lies, but grass. No rough.

Nice layout- few big trees but lot o variety. Couple tough up hill p3's from black. Not a lot of trouble otherwise.

Greens were tops- hard, very fast, true rolling and offer the challenge to course. very few flat greens- lots of mounding. Must be below hole on most. Bunkers fine.

Much better than expected round-course is not difficult getting to the greens. 17 & 18 short P4 & P5 to finish with easy pars. Toughest is actual 1 handicap first P5 where you need to fit 2nd shot between 2 lakes and gaggle of coots, 3rd over water to uphill green.

$46 to walk - local- now in Sat rotation. Only knock is early groups catching back side.

Good 'ole Western Ave- watch your clubs!

Sat joined reg 4some walkers- 3rd group..6th counting glo ball groups.

Pro Shop guy did nice job getting me off as waling single- was 1st on list.

POP; Horrible. Structrual problem w/2nd hole leads to for sure backup. 1.5 hrs to walk off 5th tee. Guys I joined ambled more than strided- we were about a 1/2 hole behind but would have still finished in 5 hrs instead of 5.5 for such an early tee time.

Greens: Good - not mowed. Will punch this week.

Fairways: Great. Full, green, no brown spots, good lies.

Rough: Long & Juicy. Penalty.

Bunker: In none- looked like not much sand.

Course has some strong par 4's. Have now opened up real blue tee on 4th P3.

Good value-wide open so you can really bomb away, but pace will push this down off Sat am rotation.
