Played on 8/13/10 teed off at 2:45pm, starter was cool and gave my buddy and I the twilight rate. Started off fast but dead stop at the par three fourth hole. The foursome in carts in front of us were taking about 15 minutes on the greens, ever green. Got pace of play was horrible. Sun settled down at 8:15pm and we were on the 18th tee. Gave up and walked in. Also, the "regular" 3pm women's five-some twilight brigade hit into us twice. You know who you are short lady with the white visor =P

Played 8/16/10 teed off at 2:15pm. Finished at 6:30pm. fast play. No complaints but bunkers were still like the asphalt in the parking lot but with more rocks than sand.

Played 8/17/10 teed off at 2:30pm. 2 kids and their dad in front of us taking their time practicing. Three of us played through and front nine took us 1hour and 30 mins. Back nine took us 2 hours and 30mins (the three of us caught the group in front of us). excellent time of 4 hours.

Overall I think this is a great course but it is poorly managed. The greens fee is the best in southern California. $25 Mon - Fri. Even the LA city courses charges more on Friday. I live in west LA and I drive to Lawndale to play golf because it is cheaper. Not too much traffic on the 405 going south at 2pm or coming up north at 6-8pm either. Greens are in decent condition even though first three greens have different grass compared to the rest of the greens. Fairways are either lush, bare, or heavily wet with tire tracks. Bunkers are pathetic. Almost all the bunkers around the greens are clay mud with a sprinkle of sand surrounded by rocks. Tee boxes are decent but some have pot holes, or are hard as a rock, or need to be cut. Also, the regular guys that play there in the afternoons are D**ks. I am asian and it embarresses me when these guys are rude and have no manners (walking on lines, hitting before their turn, walking in front of you before you get to hit, walking off the green before everyone putts out, or talking in your back swing). I must play there about two or three times a week and the same guys/ladies at the same time. Also, management needs to have a better system of giving out tee times. It seems that certain tee times are given to certain people on a regular basis. I have called at 5:30am for a tee time for a foursome a week in advance and those blocks of times are already reserved. With all the negatives I still go back because it is still the best value around. I could pay 13 dollars more at Rancho Park but then I would also have to endure their 6 hour rounds.

Value= good
Customer Service = Decent
Course condition = Decent
Bunkers = Need to be fixed.

My home course, I played Thursday 8/18/05. Tee time was at 1:36pm and I actually teed off at 1:37pm and finished around 6:45pm. A little over 5 hours but not bad for being the most played course in US. Like always the group ahead of us was playing slow (funny how it's like that at every course). The funny thing was that the group in front of us had the balls to tell us to play slower because our foursome was playing "too fast". Marshall (Rudy) thought that was real funny. Oh well what can you do, Muni couses? Course looks over all in good condition. I believe the #1 tee box will be fixed in the next few days. I saw the greenskeeper mowing the entire back tee area on the first hole so we should be able to use the top blue tee box soon. They were mowing like crazy the last couple of days, rough fairways and tee boxes. Fairways actually look lush but are still over watered. Greens on the other hand look like their about to die and wilt. Greens need to be cut or aerated but over all fair. Rough was somewhat easy but still need to be fix with all that bald areas. Nothing too dramatic in the course layout. I noticed a lot of checkerd flags on the greens with back tee positions on almost all the holes except on a couple of par 3's. For $22 on weekdays including friday is the best bargin in town and only 28.50 on the weekend. Plus the snack shop by the par 3 12th sells a large soda for $1.50 unheard off in the golfing world. Pace of play is probably the only grip most people have for this course. Challenging yet not too hard this course is worth playing. Plus it's a great course to play to get your handicap index down since the rating and slope is 71.7/126 with only 6628 yards. And with the closing par fives(17th and 18th) it is really fun. It may not be the PGA championship at Baltusrol Golf Club but those two par fives are easy birdie holes with huge greens. One more thing to add. The plaque on number 18 that tells of how Arnold Palmer shot a 12 on that hole needs to be taken care of better. It's part of golf history and should be respected and instead of putting it near the tee box they should replace it near the practice area at the end of the 18th hole to make everyone feel better once they finish the hole. Plus everyone can see it, not just the players. Just a thought. Go play this course it is worth the money and is fun.

Played Rancho Park on Sunday Feb 23. This was after the never ending rain from the weeks before. I was suprised the course was dry as it was but nice course for what it went through with the rains. But this was the longest 18 holes of my life. Ever stereo type for koreans are true. I can attest because I am Korean. I had a group of koreans in front of my group and behind. The group behind us hitting into us because we were slow the group in front were putting for 15-20 mins. The worst ever. I am suprise I broke a 100 with the slow play. besides the horrible delay(s) the course was in great condition. Had lost of wind but it made the course fun. No casual water in site and greens were rolling a lot better than normal. Ruff was quite deep but very lush. I would say it it weren't for my "fellow" Asians this round would have been better. Can you believe it, a SIX hour round! Tee time was 12:12pm got off the green on the 18th at exactly 6:13pm. Crazy.

Went out the first saturday after the heavy rain. Horrible customer service. Twilight hours change but I made my reservation one week in advance and they were going to charge me full price to play twilight. Good thing one of the guys in the pro-shop caved in after everyone in my foursome decided to leave. driving range is not grass they are all mats and need to be replaced. cheap golf balls though. Course is nice when not wet. The fairways need to have a better drainage system. Most of the fairways were flooded on the back 9. Good thing we didn't pay full price because we didn't get to finish only up to the 16 hole. The pace of play was horrible. They need to marshals out on the course not chatting with the snack cart girl. Tee boxes are terrible. Not a single leveled tee box. LA muni courses are a lot better in that aspect. Greens are decent. This is not a hard course but DO NOT GO WHEN IT RAINS or AFTER IT RAINS!!!!! Watch out for the Two korean starters. They are just D_ _KS! Not worth the drive from West LA. Should have gone to Rancho Park and spent the extra 6 bucks and walked.

For the money it is well worth it. From tee to green is a challenge for most amature players due to length. Most par fours are 400 + yards but greens a suprisingly large. so getting it on the green is not a problem. Fairways on the other hand can be spotty so course management is a must. The par 5 fourth hole is a tester. Not only is the length an issue but the annoying Radio control planes on the near by park is quite disturbing like mosqitoes. I would say Over all is good but could be better.

Played Friday after thanksgiving. Tee time was for 8:48am but finished a little after 2pm. Tee boxes are fair and somewhat challenging for the average player but fun for the scratch player. Reachable par fives in two along with short par 4's for birdie looks. Par 3's are attackable and greens roll as it appears. For the money, definately worth it. A little noisey near the freeway.

For the price and facilities (snack shop, pro shop, range, etc) can't beat the price. One of the better Public course in the area.
