Mr. tmt of hemet is correct. Finally a man who has critical thinking ability and is able to discern the real issues. He gets my point that the courses have the ability to be great tests and even possible sites for major championships, but not under present conditions. My suggestion to save these courses is for the scpga to donate the land back to the housing developers or a homeowners association in exchange for a management contract . Each house that is sold would include a golf membership and a portion of the monthly fees would go to maintain the courses. Memberships could be transferred for a fee. This solution gives financial blood, a continuous stream of revenue and life to a course that cannot be maintained properly by daily fees. Thanks Mr tmtl for your insights.

is this guy from csulb from a different planet or what? The course is overwatered and is soaking wet. I am surprised my golf cart doesnt leave a wake. The greens are too soft which has made less of an emphasis on the short game because one no longer has to worry about speed as on firm conditions. Did this guy not notice the excessive ball marks and uneven putting surfaces? How does he like landing a long iron just short of the green and having it stick in the soft mush leaving a ball mark and a muddy ball for the next shot? Am i imagining this? I dont hate this course. Im disappointed. Oh, and by the way, the housing is encroaching on the course in several areas. Former difficult rough areas are now under construction. See the right side of no. three. How about left of the green on four? What happened to the left side of number five which was torn up to put in a sewer pipe for the new housing and left a muddy mess? The housing will not help the course to any great extent because this course has no financial interest in the real estate development. Maybe, they may attract ten percent of the residents to play, but that will be a maximum of four hundred people who may be golfers. Daily fee courses in highly dense populated areas can hardly make it so why does this guy think a few nuts who want to live on top of a freeway will economicly benefit this place? I dont care what the green fee is. The fact is that this course is not in great condition. The bunkering has been bad for five years. Dont give me the recent rain. If that were the case, then every course in southern ca. should have poor bunkers. Not. I speak the truth

Overwatered fairways and greens. Players do not rake the miserable traps. Very little sand, if any. Ball marks on the green make putting difficult. Players should be reminded of this before they tee off or hosts should repair as they drive around the course. The maintainance people drive their noisy gas vehicles past you as you are taking a shot. Poor instruction by the greenskeeper. Greens are mowed unevenly, especially around the edges where equipment has done extensive damage. Never saw a ground under repair sign. Divots all over the place. Why cant players be reminded before they play. Again, the hosts could do this. Tees have uneven footing. The rubber mats on the carts were polished with Armorall which made the surface extremely slippery and dangerous. Does anyone wonder why this course has gone from being number one to way down the list? Got paired up with a guy who shot a twelve on the first hole. Can you imagine playing with someone like that?

The course is overwatered in my opinion. The fairways are soaked and easily damaged by carts and equipment. The constuction is an ongoing, neverending eyesore. When will they, at least, clean up the area on the course that was torn up for new cartpath construction. I refer to the area between second and third tees and seventh and eighth tees. The greens are way to soft and bumpy. They verticut every six weeks, which I guess is necessary, but do they have to do both courses at the same time? How about spacing one or two weeks so that we can have one course more playable? Traps are deplorable full of stones and no sand. Still, this is a great course and worth playing, but it's appeal is slowly dwindling.

I have played this course several times and I think it is a great course; however, there are so many problems that make the golfing experience less enjoyable. I played with a scratch handicap player the other day who had not been here for over a year. He could not believe how the once natural conditions have given way to a mass of boring housing development that encrouches on almost every hole. The views are gross and the construction will last at least two more years. The "walk in the Park" is gone here. He was one under going into the sixth hole when his ball landed in one of the mud/dirt/gravel traps on a down hill lie with a lip to go over. He knew in advance that double bogey was in the cards and the prediction came true. He told me he wasnt coming back here again. There isnt a single ground under repair sign or limed area anywhere on this course. They do not change the pins daily and when they do change they are always in the same position as previously located. The ground crew is obviously inexperienced and not properly supervised. Most of the damage to the course is due to overwatering and equipment grinding up areas of the fairway. They replace some of the bad areas with sod that is a different grass than the fairway leaving a patchwork type look. The management is doing a great job trying to make the rest of the facility work better, but they are missing the point as the golf coursse is what attracts people.

I played both the Legends and Champions courses today. The Champions has become a major disappointment due to the endless construction of over 4000 new homes that will surround and choke the course. The once pristine views have become eyesores. I stood on the elevated second tee and lost most of my interest in continuing the round. Golf is supposed to be played in a parklike atmosphere and housing should blend into the background. Instead of seeing green rolling hills, one now sees graded brown and tightly packed uninteresting new homes. The course is still good with the exception of the traps. I suggest avoiding this course if you come here and play the Legends. This is really a shame because I remember what it once looked like.

Played the legends today and had both positive and negative impression. The good news is that they finally put some sand on the facing upslopes of the traps. This looks good, but the ball still ends up in the muddy, hardpan centers. The worst I encountered was the high weeds just a few feet in front of the 18th tee. I was under par on the back nine and had to search for a spot on the tee so as to avoid what was an obvious and unfair condition. Nevertheless, I hit the weeds and lost at least 25 yards off my drive. I have seen this happen to several players lately with even worse results. I also had to share my cart with a most unsavory character which probably cost me at least two shots.

I have played the course several times and it is a great track. However, there are some severe drawbacks. The traps are hardpan with little or no sand. Many good rounds have been spoiled due to poor lies and mud. Divots are all over that are unfilled. Ball mark damage is obvious. Pins are not sunk properly and you have the saucer effect along with ragged cup edges. I have never seen a ground under repair sign or limed area. Ball washers have no water. Tees are ok, but have some soft spots that bother your footing. This is a fantastic course that could be the crown gem of all California courses if these problems were addressed. Lack of money is the cause.
