Just played Blaketree on Sat 10/23. Course is dry, good for nice rollout w/ the driver or any other club, for that matter. I hit a 6i layup on the 18th hole 235yds w/ 10mph helping wind. Whoa nelly.

Greens are hard and a bit bumpy. Looks like they may have aerated and sanded a wk ago. Greens should get back to it's challenging conditions next wk or so. There are some area of the fairway and rough that suffered from wild boar damage. But you get a free drop from these rare spots. I hear you can get a permit to shoot a wild boar in the morning and golf at Blaketree that afternoon. Now that's not something many other courses can offer!

Layout still one of the best in town.

This course gets a lot of notoriety, and it does have nice facilities and a decent layout, but except for the 5 hole stretch on the back nine (#13-#17), it's not memorable. For my money, Cypresswood's Tradition Course is a better layout and value.

Managed by the Redstone group (Redstone TPC and Members course, Houstonian CC), it has all the bells and whistles: nice range, nice clubhouse/lockers, nice restaurant. Conditions are slightly above avg, but for me, it seems over-rated. Maybe my expectations were set too high. A buddy told me it was a poor man's Redstone. I didn't see any resemblance. However, my friends who play here really, really like the course.

The layout has promise but the unexplainably soggy fairways and patchy greens totally ruin the experience. I've always liked the layout as it could be quite challenging, but again, these courses that were built to sell the surrounding development have a tendency dilapidate after the new houses sellout. This one is the same. Subpar conditions.

Don't play here unless you absolutely have to. It's an outdated course cut b/t the pine forest and weaves in and out of a Conroe neighborhood. It's tight as the trees have not been trimmed. From the back tees, you often have to flight your teeshot through a hole in the canopy the size of a truck tire just to hit the fairway. All the greens are elevated like a giant ant hill off the flat fairways. Conditions are decent, not terrible, not exceptional.

I played here b/c we were staying at La Torretta resort. The only good thing was that I tee off at 7am and finished by 9, w/ the maintenance crew curteous enough to stop their work and wave me through.

Typical of the many courses built w/ a recent development, once most of the new houses have been sold, the course conditions dilapidate rather quickly. This course is designed by Arthur Hills, who has his name on many of the gems in Michigan and around the country. The layout can seem a bit tricked out on a few holes, but Hills' penchant for mounding gives this course a lot of character. I never got a chance to play it when it saw better days. These days, the conditions are so bad that I wouldn't come even for free. The traps are concrete hard and some of them have tractor tire marks running through it. The greens are patchy and inconsistent: fast on one green, slow and hairy on another. Fairways can be concrete or complete mush due to drainage problem. They've totally let this place go.

Good burgers in the clubhouse, though.

Don't let the fact that this course sits beside the busy I-45 HWY deter you from stopping in for round. The layout has many risk/reward options, good undulations, and challenging. Although conditions tend to be on the dry side, you can expect to get more roll in the fairways and the greens will be tough to hold. I think the local collegiate golf team plays here so expect a fair test of golf. I don't think it's very busy, as I usually finish in ~ 3 hrs. For me, it's a surprisingly fun golf experience and I always try to squeeze in a few extra hours from my commute from Dallas to Houston to stop and play.

This is a goat pasture. Grass is like the stuff in your front yard except mowed down. Holes and layout makes no sense. This is muni golf gone bad. On the SW side of Houston, drive a bit further south to play Greatwood for a better golf experience. As for munis, play Memorial, Hermann Park or Glennbrook instead of this one.

This may be the busiest course in the city, being the only public championship layout inside the loop. They host many tournaments here, like the city amateur, collegiate tourneys, etc. It's almost impossible to get a teetime unless you are vigilant w/ the online teetime system, or if you don't mind walking up as a single.

The layout is classic and the conditions are usually on the dry side in the fairways so it plays shorter than the yardage. Greens are never great b/c of all the traffic, but serviceable. They have the rare covered driving range, terrific for hot Houston weather, and it's always busy there too.

The onsite Beck's Prime burger joint has inviting outdoor/indoor sitting areas. All in all, a great place to play but just be aware that it's busy and bring a modicum of patience when you come out here.

The Lakes and the Highlands are nearly indistinguishable to me b/c they are so similar. Built on top of the old dump site, this course may have some of the most dramatic undulations in the fairways of any local course. They also have a terrific staff, locker room, driving range, teaching facility, and restaurant.

But the course is so tricked out, multiple blind shots, I feel like I'm playing grander version of putt-putt golf. The conditions are decent though, usually well kept greens and fairways. It's one of those places where you'll either love it or hate it. For me, it's over rated

I really like this layout, even though the surrounding neighborhood houses are nearly on top of you while you play. The conditions are not so great after all the new houses were sold. Greatwood used to have some of the most severely undulating and fastest greens in town. Some of the undulations on the greens survived, but the conditions alternate from being overly wet (due to an overzealous sprinkler system) to hardpan dry, definitely subpar conditions.

They do have a driving range, but the balls may not have been changed since the 90s when the course 1st opened.

But don't let that deter you from coming out to play. Aprox $35 w/ cart and you can zip around in under 4 hours most wkdays. It's target golf on a good layout w/ less than ideal conditions.

Links golf, severe mounding outside the fairways, built on flat land navigating through the neighborhood where the houses are definitely a distraction b/c of their proximity to the course. If you can hit the fairways, this course is not so tough, but lack of driving game will penalize you severely.

Driving range is off mats. Clubhouse and locker room is extremely nice, however. Conditions are fair, some mushy spots on the fairways where the drainage is not so good, other spots are concrete hardpan. Greens are decent, nothing to write home about.

For the price they charge, I don't think it's overrated, a la WildCat.
