Played December 23rd, the day after all the storms came through. The course showed very little evidence of all the water that was dumped on it, besides a few soggy spots on the fairways. Wind was really blowing which probably was helping the course dry out. Everything was in great shape, fairways, tee boxes, greens, and rough.

Played in the GK outing. First time playing the course and thought it was great. I liked the layout, there is enough trouble to make you think about each shot but not too much trouble where you are playing trying to not make mistakes.

Course was in good shape, only real complaint was that a few of the greens seem to be a little slower (I think #6 was really hairy and slow). There was some ball mark damage on the greens but not enough to ruin how the ball rolled.

Overall a great experience, just wish the course was closer.

Seems like everyone has been playing here lately, probably because they won't punch the greens for another 2 weeks. Course is in great shape, greens were rolling smooth and quick, fairways were great almost perfect lies every time. Tee boxes were good, level with a few divots, not too many. Bunkers were good, this course usually doesn't have much sand in the traps, which is fine, I expect it and they are more penalizing that way. The one thing I have noticed here with the bunkers more than any other course is the lack of raking. I don't know if the course doesn't rake the traps each morning, if there is a lack of rakes or what, but every trap seems to have tons of footsteps. One guy in the group in front of us took 4 shots to get out of a trap and never picked up a rake.

Maybe the most impressive thing about the course condition today was the rough. It was extremely tough. I have played Torry and other courses with extreme rough and this was about as tough as it gets. The rough was THICK everywhere, if you hit your ball in it you were praying it was sitting up. It has been a while sense I have played a course with this tough of rough.

Played Goose Creek this morning. I have played here twice in the last 8 or 9 years, and will probably play a lot more now that you can book times online (I am lazy and don't like calling courses).

This course really reminds me of a course you might find in the south, with bent grass greens, not a ton of trees and fairly flat. You don't get views like you do at hidden valley or Champions Club. Like everyone says there are no boring holes, every hole is different. My biggest (and maybe my only) about the layout is the par 3s, although they are all pretty unique, 4 of the 5 are between 179 and 188 yards. It is possible you are hitting the same club on 4 of the 5.

The course was in great condition, greens, fairways, rough, and tee boxes were all great. I wasn't in the sand, so don't know what it was like, if looked good. I'll be back soon.

Played today 4-15 for the second time. This experience was more enjoyable than the previous one. The course wasn't crowded and we were told we can tee off when we were done hitting our range balls. Pace was good we finished in just over 4 hours. The fairways were mostly in good shape, there were a few wet spots and bare spots (the fairway on #9 was in bad shape). The tee boxes were mostly level with a few bare spots also. I don't know what was going on with the greens, they looked great from the fairway and I thought they would roll well but they were recently sanded. They didn't appear to be punched recently but there was a lot of sand on all the greens. The tenth green had to large areas of sand where you couldn't even see grass underneath. The rough was in great shape, it was thick. Hitting fairways was a must to score on many of the holes. Course could of been in better shape but it wasstill very playable and enjoyable.

Played Talega today 3/30, first time playing here and I liked the course. Tee boxes and fairways weren't in great shape there were some thin and bare areas. Rough was good, it was thick. Greens rolled really well and were not bumpy. I was in 3 bunkers and I thought the sand was near perfect, not to soft or firm, the lies were fair. The round took around 4 hours.

The one thing that did bug me about the layout was the 600 + yard Par 5 on the back. The lenght didn't bother me and I was actually looking forward to tackling the monster when I saw it on the scorecard. I was hitting my driver good today and since the hole was playing downwind I thought I had a chance of possible getting it close in two. When I got to the hole I saw that you can only hit your tee shot 280 yards before a hazard. A lot of good courses have Par 5s with 1st shot layups, Champions Club has one and Rustic has two, they aren't bad holes they just tick me off a bit. On the flip side #16 is a par 4 where you have to hit a 1st shot layup and it was one of my favorite holes and maybe the best designed.

Enjoyed playing this course for the 2nd time more than the 1st. Greens, tee boxes, and fairways all were in really good shape. Bunkers didn't have a ton of sand in them but I think that is the result of the type of course this is more than the condition. Only problem with the conditions was the rough, I don't mind thick rough but patchy rough gets me. I was in a patch filled with sand inches off of the collar on 10, and a bowl type patch just off of the fairway on 5. Pace of play was slow, round took around 5 1/2 hours, we had to wait on almost every shot. Since I was in the 1st group of our event it wasn't a result of our players slow play.

Played here the first time, although I can completely see why people love this course I am not a huge fan. The front 9 ruined it for me, if it hadn't taken 3 + hours to get through, with at least 3 groups on each par 3 tee it might have been more enjoyable. It was just tough playing with any feel or touch (which is needed on this type of course) when you are waiting 20 minutes between shots. I enjoyed the back 9 much better, and the pace was a little quicker. The round took about 5 1/2 hours on a Thursday with a 10:50 tee time. Greens were in good shape but putting was frustrating. I think this is a course were the more you play the more you would enjoy it, and a course were sub 5 hour rounds are a MUST.

First time playing, got there about 45 minutes early and was informed they were about 15 minutes behind due to fog. I figured it was not a big deal and would just hit balls and putt longer. I asked to buy a bucket of balls, the starter gave me about 10 balls and said they were all out and he would bring me some in a little bit. Waited on the range and no additional balls ever came. Pace was really slow, original time time at 9 finished a little after 3, long day.

Course is in good condition. Greens were really fast and smooth, fairways were mostly really nice, a little wet and bare in some spots. Rough was thick in most areas making for some difficult shots around the greens. I was in one fairway bunker which was fine, I wasn't in a greenside but playing partners said the were really hard. Tee boxes were lush and even in most spots. There were some damp tee boxes and a few seemed to have fertilizer on them.

I think I may go back although the pace of play and the total lack of customer service may keep me from making the 45 minute trip.

Played the South for the first time 6/30. Got there at 5:15 got out around 7. All the holes were open but #9 was a little bit of a mess (at least the first half) a lot of workers working in the rough. The tee boxes, greens, and sand were all in really good shape. The fairways were a little wet and hairy there was very little roll on drives. The rough was thick but playable, except for a lie I had on #18 (I had trouble punching this ball up the fairway with a wedge), I was able to hit get a lot of club on the ball. The rough was most penal around the greens. I took a couple doubles on the front because I would try and get to cute with chip or pitch shots around the green. By the back nine I realized you would just had to play a pitch out of the rough to 15 feet and not try and hit a flop a few feet from the hole.

Played for the first time on new years day. We tee'd off almost 30 minutes late and the round took around 5 hours, which caused us to miss some of the rose bowl. My first impression of the course was not good, on holes 1 and 4 I has in the fairway with a short wedge in hand but sitting on a big dirt spot. Both holes didn't turn out to well due to trying to hit a sand wedge or lob wedge with some bounce on a hard dirt lie. Greens were good and fast, rough and tee boxes seemed decent. The bunkers may have had way too much sand in them (which may be the first time I ever complain about that).

Course was in really good shape, tee boxes and bunkers were near perfect. Fairways were a little muddy in some places but overall very good. Greens were mostly in very good shape hard and fast. In these conditions the course plays tougher than its slope, they had several pins tucked in to corners making them near impossible to access.
