golfnow had a $35 tee-time at 11am on XMas eve, so I made the drive up the 76. I hadn't played the course since the fire, and it's pretty amazing to see how the course survived.
All in all, the course was in pretty decent shape for late December. There were some muddy spots, but the fairways were in good shape. Tee boxes need some work, as it's pretty hard to find a decent place to hit from. Greens are pretty bumpy and slow, but again, it's late December. Pace of play was a also a bit slow. The course has some narrow spots and that causes some backups. There were no rangers on the course at all, but I did see the bev cart once.

If you can find a coupon or a cheap tee time, this is definitely worth sub $50.

I had the pleasure of playing Cross Creek early this morning (850a). I signed up for their e-club, and Randy sent me a 2-for-1 coupon, so my wife and I made the trek.
The conditions were great, especially considering the time of year. Fairways and greens were impeccable, the tee-boxes were, in general, very good. However, as the initial survey noted, some of the views from the tee-boxes don't provide "ah, here's how to play this hole" feeling. Several blind shots left this 13 handicapper grubling a few times.

We played through the 1st twosome by #7, and then had the course to ourselves. I had a surreal moment on the tee at 17. Stone cold silence. I mean I couldn't hear anything...it was really weird. This surreal experience can only be heard in Southern California at Cross Creek.

If you've never played, sign up for the e-club, look for a discount, and head up there. I think you'll find it on your "must play a couple times per year" list, even if, like me, your local club's monthly dues eat up all of your monthly golf budget.
