Played here twice recently (November and December). Very consistent in conditions, playablity, experience. A short, fun course in a scenic location. Not long. Good to very good greens - speed a tad slow, but great shape. Matted driving range, good practice greens. Par 3s are all fairly difficult (the second hole has alternating greens - played both liked the down hill one best). Lots of shotmaking opportunities. Fairways leaning toward dormant and roll a ton. Must be very green in the springtime. Mountains all around. No houses on the course. Lots of fun. Nice clubhouse, good bar with friendly patrons and employees. Good course, reasonable rates, not crowded, great location. Check it out.

Played on a Sunday in late November, paid the rack rate, rode in a foursome. Been there only once before. 10 minute intervals, decent pace. Course is walkable - back 9 much more elevation so be prepared. Perfect day - 60's no wind, sun - late November!. Course looked great, carts w/GPS, 100, 150, 200 markers on fairways too. Greens, fairways, tees, bunkers good to real good. Nice range and putting areas. Played blue tees (about 6400 yds) and length not the issue here. Very strategic course. Fairway bunkers are well placed. Front nine not difficult at all. Pace good. Back nine gets hilly, way more target golf and not as fun or rewarding as the front. Greens rolled well, lots of movement and a real challenge without being overly so. All the par threes are fun, none are long, some downhill. An "A" on the par 3s. As mentioned by others, the 18th should be bulldozed. All of it. Nobody - I mean nobody - wants to lay up off the tee on a longish par 5, much less the last hole of the day. 2nd shot is even less fun because it too is a narrow lay up and you still can barely see the green. What? Ok, rant over. Beautiful course to look at (think Eagle Ridge, Saddle Creek), pretty fun to play. Some houses (nice ones) that never come into play. I'm sure the regulars get a kick out of the whining about 18. Nice looking pro shop, helpful staff, cart woman. Didn't go into the restaurant/bar but it looked nice from the course. Would play it again. Swallow your pride and hit hybrid, hybrid, mid-iron off 18 and just deal with it. You'll enjoy the ride home much more.

On other business, but found time to play LeMoore Golf Course in the central valley. Hot and humid day (95+), so took a cart. Not a long course, definitely flat, lots of mature trees on the front. Oddly, the front nine was not unlike the front at Pacific Grove - two wildly opposite geographical locations. Fairways are OK - some great, some a bit thin and not terribly attractive. Lots of rolling hills throughout. For as hot as it gets there they do a good job of keeping the course green and very playable. Greens appear smooth, but are very soft and slow, leading to a frustrating putting day if you don't adapt in a hurry (I didn't). They look terrific and ball mark damage is about average - could be better. The back nine winds through a residential area, but houses are never intrusive. Some good driving holes on the back with wide, wide fairways. Par threes were challenging in length and pin placement. Bunkers are good (only in one) and not too many of them. One water hole on the front (kind of hidden and guess what? Bloop off the tee after trying to cut the corner. Rookie move.) Pace of play wasn't an issue - about three hours and I was let through one twosome - but front nine greens and (next) tees are pretty close together. Nice all grass range, good practice green (exactly like the course greens), small but nice pro shop and grill (good dog). Friendly staff. Easy to find.

Since Johnny was good enough to add this course at my request, I think I should write a review. Played this semi-private country club many times over past 15 years. Updated irrigation/water management has made it a beautiful and challenging mountain course. Not long (back tees not much different than mid-tees and forward tees have been addeed), but lots of monster pines and oaks to deal with off the tee. Some elevated tees make taking driver fun, but don't fall in love with it - hitting fairways is the ticket to scoring here. Not a grip it and rip it course. The par threes are all different (don't ya hate it when you play the same par three over and over?) and you'll use different clubs on each. Only two par fives and frankly, neither are two my liking. Both are difficult and filled with trouble if you are wide left or right. The greens are usually firm and in great shape, but hold a high approach.

A great first hole, great finishing hole and tremendous 19th hole and restaurant (The Grill). Full pro shop, real nice people, full driving range (sometimes grass, sometimes mats) and practice area. It can be a little work to get up highway 120 but worth the effort. Can rent condo/houses on the property or hotel it in town. High in the mountains (about 3,000+ feet) on the road to Yosemite, the views are great.

Played last Thursday, Friday, Saturday - June 17-19 - with 3 buds. Stayed at the Hyatt Grand Champions nearby. First class golf facility and resort. Great staff inside the clubhouse, at the bag/cart area and on the course. Temps in the low hundies, but had tons of water, iced towels and stations along both courses. Courses are beautiful to look at and occasionally treacherous to play. Tee boxes level and mostly pristine, with the Celebrity course appearing to get more play than the Players. Celebrity has more horticultural stuff, shorter, quirkier holes, and water. The Players is a "drivers" course where three-wood is the smart play many times. I preferred the Players but I think shorter hitters might have a better experience with the Celebrity. Played two man scramble part of Saturday which allowed for plalying all the different tee box configs. Have to admit that the forward three boxes (white, green, red) made the course seem way too short, bring in needless hazards and trick short, and made those holes play much less interesting; but to each his/her own. Greens were very fast, undulated and in great condition. Kind of crispy to the point that it was hard to detect and fix pitch marks. (Be careful not to "rip" the green with your fix it tool). The second round at Players yielded better scores simply because of the local knowledge on some of the blind-ish shots and pin placements. Electric carts had coolers and GPS, fairways marked as well. Cart dude/girls were super friendly, helpful and offered great beer deals on Friday(s). Saturday we got slowed by a local tournament and at the turn at Celebrity they offered us to switch to the Players and finish all 18 over there. Deal! No slow downs, could have played again. Smart course management. Drink a ton of agua. It's readily available. Fairways run from generous bomber's size to "put away that driver you idiot" skinny. Stay the bleep out of that gigantic barranca that runs down the center, or the walk back up the hill will cause you to be huffing and puffing while you play your next shot. The club house and restaurant bar were so nice we had dinner there one night. There's a nine hole putting course (lit up at night) for fun, but the better practice area is the large putting green near the chipping area closer to the first tees. Small but well marked and stocked range (no charge for balls - Callaway rangers). Great rates at least in the warm months. Re-play would have been $40. I love the heat out there. Recommend both courses. Have only played Plantation CC and the old Landmark course in the valley.
