Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played this course for the 3rd time 4/28/11....I give this course high marks, no its not the most challenging course you'll ever play but its fair and very scorable, the greens I'd give very high marks along with the pace of play...our group takes a desert trip every year for the last 6 yrs and we usually make it out for this track, after playing courses where the only flat lies are on the cart paths its refreshing to get rewarded for a good drive....highly recomend Indian Springs, lastly awesome prices in pro shop on shoes, golf balls etc...and the food in the grill was top notch as was the service, to sum it up I'll be back!
Played 4/6/10-----Best of the 4 I played in La Quinta last week, didnt play the stadium....carts had GPS, fairways were very generous, around the greens are where all the car wrecks are....holes 9 and 18 were a bit tricked up to say the least, but if Jack's intention was to grind all the guests nutbags to dust it worked, make sure you hit 270+ yd drives on 9 and 18 and you have a chance to par, played the blues which was close to 6600 yds....the rest of the course was fair i thought, although the elevated greens got old quick, everyone in our 8 man group had multiple times where balls hit the green or just short and rolled back into bunkers..when that much luck plays into golf its not real cool but for playing it for the first time I liked the course, greens were very undulated and semi fast, get on the wrong side of the hole forget it, was a 3 putt waiting to happen.
Played last Wed 4/14----course was in good shape, played 4 courses at La Quinta last week in my opinion this one was the weakest of the bunch, not overly hard a few water holes, one that was a complete joke when balls hit the green with spin and roll off into the water some odd 20 ft......mountain course is a notch up with the layout, greens on both courses were very good and carts had GPS which is a must for 1st timers, 2nd time around would have to believe would of done better, lots of course knowledge at all the La Quinta courses....stay n play package was awesome, i recomend it!!
Played this track on thanksgiving---if you go to the website you are led to believe that the changes have been made from a par 65 to a par 70---while that may be true in the future the changes are still in progress and the tees are at their normal spots....the greens were beat up, the course was unkept, I saw more gophers than I could count meaning there were gopher holes all over the place, there was no starter, we payed a 45$ rate for this piece of shi* while other much better courses around the county were discounting green fees for the holiday at even a lower rate than california oaks... until they get the fairways with grass/greens kept up/new tees functional they should not be charging 45$ to play this dog track, needs alot of work so I nor will anyone else I know that plays golf will be heading out to this goat field....hey california oaks: get your shi* together and quit screwing the public until this joint actually looks like a golf course, the service sucked as well overall EMBARRASSING!!! stay away---go play cherry hills 10 mins up the road at least you know what your getting at its 5 bucks cheaper and 2000 yds longer......I've heard this place has new management----it does have a new clubhouse---appearantly the brainstorm is lets move a few tees around and raise the green fees--wouldn't pay over 30$ to play it the way it is now.
