Played in an event Saturday, February 21st. Course was in beautiful condition and a pleasure to play. Tests your skills from the start and puts your ability to hit fairways at a premium! The layout is striking and should be played by anyone who can find it. Elevation changes, wooden bridges through the trees, mountain views...beautiful place! I hope someone buys the place soon and puts a little effort into the amenities. I recommend Mt. Woodson to any golfer...especially those who also appreciate natures beauty.

Played Sunday, June 1st. Staff helpful and friendly. Proshop and snack bar well stocked and tended. Cart person (Sierra) funny and sweet.

Now to the course...the fairways are just plain bad. This is a beautiful layout with unique challenges, but playing off of tight lies, mud flats, baked out hardpan, or turf netting adds unneccessary frustration and ruins many scoring opportunities. What's the deal here? This course should be in tip top shape, but it isn't. The Superintendant needs to answer some hard questions about his program and his staff if this is the best he can do. I can grow better and thicker grass in my backyard with THREE dogs running it! Some bunkers fluffy, some hard as cement...some greens fast, some fuzzy and slow. Very difficult to find a rhythym on this course, as it doesn't let you get into a flow.

There is really no need for me or my group to come back here until some of these issues are addressed. When courses with many more golfers using them (like Doubletree or the Vineyard) are in far superior condition, why would anyone choose Eagle Crest?

Played Friday afternoon, 5-2-08. Thoroughly enjoyable round. Only complaint would be the lack of attention to the bunkers. Beautiful course, shot making at a premium here. For most holes, put the driver away and hit it straight. Lots of trees just waiting to block your approach. Good time, nice staff, quality golf!

Played Castle Creek 11-2-07. Place is in really good condition except VERY wet. Not sure how it helps to have standing water and mud holes all over your course! The bunkers were sodden, which really changes the way you have to play them. Nice challenge, but totally artificial. We got a great rate online, played in the early afternoon, and finished in less than 4 hours. The day was lovely, the course was in overall nice condition, and the staff was helpful and courteous. All in all, a very nice afternoon.

Played Castle Creek on 8-30-07. Other than the fact that there isn't a driving range to loosen up my old rusty gate of a swing, this course is great! Helpful and attentive staff, new carts, excellent care shown in the tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Even the sand traps have actual sand in them! Will wonders never cease...

In all seriousness, this is a challenging and fun track with plenty for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy. I highly recommend that you give this place a try.

Played Meadow Lakes Saturday afternoon, 8-11-07. Course is really in great condition except for two nagging items: the tee boxes are really chopped up, and the bunkers could use some sand. Other than those two things, the course was perfect! Out on time, great rate, pleasant conditions, and quick play...what more could one ask?

Be ready to use about every club in your bag on this course. Thinking persons course, for sure! Truly nice "19th Hole" also.

Oaks North is a hidden gem. 27 holes of executive length golf (I think the longest hole is 308 yards), tucked into the bucolic Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego's north county. Great place to work on your irons! Has a nicely stocked pro shop and snack bar, along with a driving range and putting/chipping greens. Walking this nicely maintained course after work is one of my secret pleasures!

Played Cross Creek on Monday, 2-19-07 with a group from work. Even though the conditions were rainy and cool, this course was well worth the trip. The golf course is beautiful in its setting, and a challenge to all levels of golfers. Risk/reward landing areas, changes in elevation, sweeping views, guarded greens...a great golf experience. Add to that the well-dressed and attentive staff and you have a course that I would heartily recommend. A little pricey, but worth it on all counts.

Played Wednesday, February 7, 2007. Back playing the Vineyard after a long layoff. Still has a great clubhouse and practice area, staffed by attentive and pleasant people.

The course was surprisingly busy for a mid-week, mid-day round, but moved out reasonably well. 4:45 for the round.

Tee boxes need some attention, as there are many, MANY divots. Fairways in very good condition, given winter situation. Greens pocked, as usual, since most golfers STILL don't fix their ball marks. Still rolled true and were very quick. Tricky pin placement, too, so made for an interesting putting day!

All in all, a fun day on a pleasant course.

Played Meadow Lake Saturday, 10-14-06, in a tournament. Carts were ready, starter did a great job, and facility seemed prepared to handle the tourney.

Having never played this course before, I was surprised to find so many funky carries, odd doglegs, and just plain weird hole layouts. The course was definitely designed to fit the terrain, which is hilly and oddly shaped. Might be fun with more experience/knowledge of the quirks. Tee boxes were not level on many holes. Fairways were often very narrow right at the landing areas, including a 440 yard par 4 where the landing area was 23 yards wide. Makes for lots of layups and odd shots from the rough. Some greens had been punched, some not. All in all, a very disconcerting round of golf on an odd golf course. I love golf as much as the next duffer out there, but this course took a lot of the fun out of my round, conditions aside.

Snuck out for a birthday round at Eagle Crest on 9-12-06. Got a great rate, even for aerated greens. Basically had the place to ourselves and played 18 in about 3.5 hours. Scoring was tough because of the greens, but all else in decent shape. Love the layout. Not too difficult, but can bite you if you stray off the fairway! Good clean fun and a nice place to play.

Played a tournament round at Vineyard on Aug. 20. Although the course did call and change our tee times less than one full day before the tournament...earlier by an hour...they made good with some nice freebies as their way of saying "Sorry!"

Fairways are in decent shape, if a bit wet in places. Greens are oddly a mixed bag. Some mowed, some shaggy; some rolled, some bumpy as hell. The tremendous number of ball marks speaks more about us as players than AGC as managers. All in all the day was enjoyable (since my foursome won!) If AGC can fix a few things about the Vineyard, it can return to it's former status as a MUST PLAY. Right now, it's still a MIGHT PLAY IF I CAN GET ENOUGH OF A DISCOUNT.
