Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Have played here for many many years, and it's always been one of my faves. Staff is always nice....green fees are decent. The course is run down now, sadly. I mean, it's playable, and there are some good spots throughout, but overall, it's taking a beating. Greens used to be excellent, but not so much, these days. Will I be back? Sure. Just wish these once awesome Muni's could keep up with the nicer courses in the area....
Played on Friday, Aug. 16th. Had a 1:30 tee time. Course was pretty empty so they let us go off early! This course has always been my favorite local, affordable course. It was in really good shape. Tee boxes were good, not great, but still plenty of grass. Fairways were the same. Never landed in a bad spot, luckily. I was really impressed with the sand in the bunkers!! Wow!! Every bunker had fluffy sand you'll find in a higher-end resort course! Good job, Los Amigos! Greens were good, but a lot of knuckleheads refuse to fix their divots. Bar, clubhouse, coffee shop and (recently added) outside bar are really nice (outside bar is cash only ). Staff was friendly. Finished our round in 4 hours or so (had a slow group of Seniors on the last 6 holes, but not that bad). Can't wait to come back! (BTW- I'm an 18 hdcp, and shot 80 from the Whites, with 29 putts) You'll like this place!!
Played Monday, May 14th in a Scramble Tournament. Enjoyed the course! It was in good shape. Greens rolled true, and weren't too difficult to read. Fairways were in good shape, also. Tee boxes were in good shape. Staff was very friendly. Carts were nice and clean, but no GPS screens (course is pretty easy to read, so they're not really needed). This is a Private course, but if it were Public, I'd have no problem paying $70-$80 to play it, but no more than that. Well worth a visit, if you can get on.
Played today, and it was HOT. I think it got to 101 degrees. Course was in decent shape. Greens were great. Some fairways need attending to ( dirt spots, etc ) and alot of the fairways were muddy...yes...muddy, even as hot as it was. I like the layout, and I'll play it again.
Great overall course. I'm thinking the green fees are so high since it's related to Pebble. Other than that, I don't see the reason for the high green fees. Would play again if they offered a discount of some kind.
Played Sat. / Jan. 28. Teed off at 1 pm. Somehow got all 18 in. Great course, although fairways were pretty soggy. Greens were small and fast. Sandbunkers (and there are ALOT) were pretty tough to hit out of due to hardness. Teeboxes in great shape. Only saw the marshall once, which was a big problem due to a very slow group in front of us. We finally skipped a hole and went around them. Otherwise, it's a great layout, but don't let the shortness (6,357 from tips) fool you. I'll go back for sure. Next up....PEBBLE !
July 31, 05. Played twighlight today for $27 w/ cart after 3pm. Beautiful day ! JUST finished 18 holes before dark ! Course was a little crowded, in particular the 5-some with one walker and a beginner kid playing ahead of our 4-some. Why they allow this on twighlight, I'll never know ! Everyone should ride on weekends/twighlight, and they should NEVER allow 5-somes ANYWHERE, ANYTIME !!!! OK, on to the course: Some greens were pretty trashy, others real nice. Alot of bumping going on ! Missed some putts due to poor green conditions, and of course, I missed some putts due to poor putting !! I would love to see them put more water hazards on this course ( #9, 240 yd Par 3 could be a great par 4 if they added a water hazard along the left side, forcing a very risky carry to the green, or a lay-up to the right side ! ). Course is short at 5768 from the whites, but is still alot of fun to play. Staff was great. Play it.
Great course! I've only played the Lakes course 3 times, but it has been great. Great deals in the summer ( watch the heat ! ) and a 10 minute drive from stateline. A great weekend getaway. Service is A+. Staff is A+. Course is A+.
A bit of advice to the Starter at Cresta Verde: NO FIVESOMES ON THE WEEKENDS !!!!!! Played today. It took 5 hours because of the 5-some in front of us. One of the guys was taking lessons on the course from his buddies ! ( None of which were worthy, themselves ! ) INEXCUSEABLE !!! Called the starter on the 4th hole to complain, but never saw a marshall all day. Greens were in good shape although the fairways leave ALOT to be desired. 18th could be a great finishing hole if it weren't for all the dead grass and filth in the lake. Why John Daly plays here, I'll never know. Hope they get it together soon.
Played the back 9 on Monday the 20th @ 6:30 am. Greens in Great shape. Few muddy patches on fairways. Customer service is A+. Course is a great track and the price is reasonable. Not too long, not too short.
Fun course. Not too long, but you'll need to bring your fade, draw and your straight shot if you want to score low. Water hazards can punish a major Banana-Baller, or Chili-Dipper. Fairways are mostly wide enough for some error, but try not to hook or slice it. Greens are a little slow, but a decent size. I've played here alot, and will continue to do so. Good Hot Dogs ! P.S., Leave the big birds alone near the 17th tee ! The males will chase you down if they feel threatened ! They don't like hackers messin' around near their women !!
