Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Teed it up at Torrey Pines South on August 3rd at 8:30. Played in a little under 5 hours, so the pace of play was great.
Overall the course is amazing and in great shape. Tee boxes were perfectly flat and lush. The views were actually better than I had expected. The rough must have been cut a little shorter, because it was not that difficult to get out of -- except around the greens. The rough around the greens made it tough to even get a club on the ball. As much play as the South gets -- I was expecting the greens to be beat up a little, but the greens were amazing. The greens held balls perfectly, yet still rolled firm and true. Once you get it teed up, things are Torrey are truly epic.
A few other things to be aware of before you tee it up: the driving range is a joke. I have seen better driving ranges at par 3 course for hackers. Not something you expect when you are dropping over $200 on green fees. For 200 bones you would expect a free cart, free range balls, and a little customer service. There basically is no customer service, sure the people that take your money are nice , but that is about it. I know it is a muni course, but charging that price you would expect a wet towel, a cold bottle of water, and someone to strap your clubs on the cart. Don't expect this at Torrey.
Overall the course is amazing and is in fantastic shape. If you are not a local, be prepared to shell out some dough with no frills.

Played the Wolf Course on July 31st at 7:00 am. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too windy. The course was in amazing shape. Lush green fairways. Greens were perfect -- rolled great and held shots. Each hole was unique and the island green was the great. The driving range was as nicer than most golf courses. Customer service was exceptional as well. This is a must play and I will look forward to playing again.
