Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!course is still fantastic although condtioning not quite as good as in 2006 or 2007; heard from locals that Arrowood is also a great outing at a cheaper price and that Maderas isn't in it's normal fantastic shape this year
nice course overall; doesn't measure up to Pelican Hill, Trump Nat'l or Aviara but is also a little cheaper; expect better service level for this price range; they watered the practice green with fertilizer while we were putting, were running sprinklers on #1 while the foursome ahead of us was playing the hole and we had to ask twice to get someone in the pro shop to look for a lost item in our cart after finishing; beware that there is no range (although you can hit into a net); an overall very nice course but don't expect Pelican Hill South service or conditions
played South course and was pleased; great service and great condition (not quite as good as Trump Nat'l); greens were rolling near 11 so practice green near range is deceiving; pricey at $250 but a nice one-timer on vacation; gives you a good mix of tree-lined and ocean holes plus some target golf; one of the priciest in SoCo but probably the most upper-end experience I've had in SoCo (Aviara, Maderas, Trump, Torrey, Pelican Hill); cer tainly not the best value; they have a nice range but you're required to hit from mats; be careful of North course as attendant said they are having trouble with the greens on that side; be sure you get a yardage book as it's needed to complement the range finder they provide
played today and course was in great shape; well-manicured but greens could have been a little faster, however, the undulation makes them tough anyway; played in June 2006 and it was in a little better shape but still fantastic; on par with Maderas for conditioning but it's a little more scenic; probably tops on my list over Torrey Pines (either side), Maderas, La Costa (don't bother); would still put it behind Trump National in L.A.; teed off at 8:00 on this Tuesday and our threesome never waited; I like the courses with ocean views (we don't have many of those in Dallas) but Aviara's flowers and waterfalls make up for it; a little pricey to play often but $200 is fine for vacation golf
