Back in the Clinton years, Bill paid a solo visit to Mrs. Shelia Davis Lawrence the recent widow of Larry Lawrence, the owner of the Hotel Del Coronado. Sheila rebuffed Bill's approaches so he decided to play a round at the Coronado Golf Course. Secret Service men surrounding the course clandestinely kicked Bill's balls, improving his lies, whenever he hit an errant shot, and anything within five feet of the hole were tallied as gimmees. Afterwards, Clinton proudly announced to the national press crew in attendance that he had shot a 79! "The first time that I ever broke 80!"

Reminiscent of another quote he made a few years later, "I did not have sex with that lady!"
