Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played Castle Creek for the first and likely the last time. Course is dried out with hard pan fairways, uneven tee boxes, terrible greens that ran like concrete, and sand traps like mud bowls. Don't waste your money or time on this course. Too many other options for $40 to $50 dollars in North San Diego County.
Went to Maderas for a 2:00 o'clock twilight rate. Well worth the rate and what a beautiful course. Beyond the excellent tee boxes, fairways and greens was the impeccable service. Pulling in an Attendant was waiting behind my car with a cart..."Are you playing golf this afternoon Sir?". Checkin was great and practice range balls were included. I was playing as a single and the manager drove up while on the practice range, "Sir, would you like to go out now with a twosome or continue warming up". Really? Such focus on the customer/player. Get to the beautiful, lush hole #1 tee box and an Attendant is waiting, "Welcome to Maderas. Have you played here before? Here is a complete course booklet describing your play today. There are waters on ice in your cooler." He went on to further describe the course amenities, as I helped myself to free tees and a nice brass divot tool. Course is very challenging, but like any round just hit it straight and the putts will take care of themselves. Honestly, by #15 I became fatigued and my mind was writing checks my body couldn't cash. I decided to hang it up and drove to the clubhouse. The head of the pro shop had approached me several times before and I saw him once during play. Great guy with good some course tips too. I made it to the great restaurant/bar to regroup. Ultimately the pro shop manager came by asked how I did. I said I didn't finish honestly due to fatigue (played 36 holes two days ago). He comped me the back nine and gave me a 50% credit towards my next round!! Really? Who does that? Trust me...play the course. Enjoy the challenge. Swing your swing...
