Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played Sterling on 9/23 . Tee time 10:06 $30 (walking)... Paired with one other player (who was using a cart) from the white tees. Course was in good shape..there were some areas that had "ground under repair" but not enough to distract from my play...Most greens were smooth and fast (probably around 10 on stimp) compared to what I'm used to playing on. Pace of play was good.. a few times we had to wait for the foursome in front of us..but that was understandable as we were only two...they had offered for us to play through but we declined...as we were enjoying the day and the occassional slight wait was welcomed. The wind kicked up around noon which offered more fun challenges. finished in 4 hours...Discovered that seniors that are 55+ can get weekday walking rate of $32 (with a small bucket of range balls).otherwise a cart is $13 extra. Hit off from the mats on the range...but all in all...another great and fun day at one of the nicest courses (and best values) in Ventura County
Played on Saturday 4/17..tee time 1:15..usually they send groups off in fivesomes...however there were only 3 of us..so expectations were high...but nonetheless...got off at 1:30..and finished at 7:44!!! The main reason? The golfers two groups ahead of us and the group directly in front of us insisted on playing from the blue tees..which caused them to be in trouble on almost every hole as a result of the difference in distance between the blues and the whites..so most of their time was spent looking for lost balls (which, quite truthfully.. stood a good chance of ending in the fairway had they teed off from the whites..) very frustrating and no marshalls in sight.. no cart girl to "ease" the suffering..The greens were punched on 1/2 side only..which made for more interesting and at times ridiculous pin placements..The most difficult thing of all... explaining to girlfriend who would accept the fact it took nearly 7 hours to play a round of golf! Will be a long time before i go back!!!
