This course never disappoints. We were met by a staff person with 2 bottles of water as we walked up to the golf shop. Free cookies were at the counter. Tom, the starter, is one of the nicest guys ever. So were the others we met on the course. Fairways and greens were being repaired throughout the day and marshals stopped by a few times just to say hi. This golf course understands the value of a sincere smile and keeping the course in solid shape.
As far as the course itself, it should be/is a bucket list course. The holes are challenging and the scenery nothing short of post card scenic. The greens were in stellar shape and while there were rare spots of heat damage on the course, the fairways were well maintained with good lies. There were enough areas of high rough to make one wince after an errant shot (but those areas also saved golf balls from travels into snake territory). It is possible to donate balls to the course on many holes; the quarry can be unforgiving, but that's what makes this course memorable.
