April 11, 2014. Played a twi-light round for my first time through this muni. Greens were in great shape and fast. For the low rate, you need to look past this courses rough edges. The design will keep you guessing on what to do with plenty of elevation changes, challenge and dog legs. Put this muni on top of the list compared to the other 2 in SLO county. Not crowded at twi-light makes it a good evening option as other popular courses are likely full with happy hour twi-light specials.

April 13, 2014. Monarch continues to impress. No drought impact that I could see. 2 greens on the back (15 & 17) are being allowed to grow longer (spring maintenance?), they were shaggy and slow. The rest were as true and as fast as you would expect. New, expanded menu makes for great lunch options. If you are visiting SLO county and have not played Monarch you will not find a course with as much design aesthetic and challenge as Monarch. Join the rewards program and save big.
