This is vintage Pete Dye with elevated everything (tee boxes, fairways, and greens) and plenty of waste bunkers. The greens are fast and slopey and the fairways are in mint condition. The last 3 holes are about as tough as it gets - two long par 4s with water on the right almost all the way down, and an unforgiving short par 3 with a narrow green, water in front and a bunker behind. Your golf ego destroyed, you'll want to stay away from sharp objects for a couple of hours after the round.

This is the most unique course you will ever play. You will either curse Jim Engh and wonder what he was smoking when he designed it, or embrace the wackiness (as I do!). There are blind shots everywhere and over-the-top slopey greens. Sand traps are substituted by deserty dirt mounds aka "hogbacks" and there are great views from the elevated tee boxes. It's absolutely worth the 2 hour drive from Denver - I would recommend playing two rounds in the day as they have a great deal on replays (and the morning round is not that expensive). The course is always in great shape (although it can get windy at times). My buds and I try to get out there at least once a year for a good dose of comic relief.
