Wow! What can you say about Aviara. One week after the Kia LPGA tournament, the fairways are pristine and the greens are as usual, like playing the game Labyrinth.
The rough is still up from the tournament and that has made it a great challenge to 'play it like the pros'
The lady's played at just over 6600 yards which would be the same distance as from the blue tees.
Great service. They make you feel like a king.
Will come back again and again.

What can I say? A championship course with a down home feel. There is nothing I can add to the superlatives about the course itself. Many true champions already provide evidence to the greatness of the course. What struck me most, from the vantage point of a lowly amateur is how welcoming the staff was. From top to bottom they all took responsibility for their jobs and more. I felt that each one believed they represented not only the course, but the history of the course. A great experience.

What a pleasure! THe course was in great condition this weekend. More than that it has a real clubhouse and restaurant. The staff was great and it was definitely worth the high price tag. Afterwards we went to the beach and took a dip. What a great day! Would definitely recommend this over Makai for an experience and value.

Just came back this weekend. The course is fun. THe fairways are accessible and the greens are challenging. The view is spectacular but....the pro shop staff makes the experience almost not worth having. The clubhouse is small, they only have a snack bar and for the price of the course they have almost no amenities and to make it worse both the woman at the counter and the lady at the snack shop responded to every comment or question in such a sour way. It made me feel very unwelcome. I wouldn't bother paying full price. I got over 50% discount on EZlinks.com. It's a beautiful place but they seem to not even like golf. Unfortunately Prince wasn't open which we would have liked to try. We were staying on the North Shore but it was well worth it to drive over to Poipu which was a blast and I also reviewed.

Would not play this course again. Go to Shadow Ridge instead.Yes, the groundskeeping is immaculate. Course requires your best shots but..... for this amount of money they lack a real attention to details. Cart girl came at the 14th and 17th holes. If you know the layout you know that you can't get back from the 9th. If you are going to charge $10 for a sandwich then you have to provide the service commensurate with the cost. I wanted something for a snack at the grill before playing. The girl, while picking her nails, told me that they ran out of it.....YESTERDAY! For this kind of cost can't someone do inventory daily? I asked for a forecaddy but the young girls at the counter never transmitted the message and by the time I was at the tee it was too late to get anyone.
The worst part for me was when I asked the manager of the course(who was very nice by the way) he could only suggest that I fill out a survey after my round because 'that would help him a lot'. What that says to me is that Troon Golf is a severely top down type of management that doesn't allow those front line people to make even the smallest accomodations. Don't they trust their frontline managers with decision making?
Now while at shadow ridge I had an axcellent exerience with excellent staff support by young but responsible attendants.
