Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii! We played a round here on Tuesday and found the course to be tight and quaint. The driving range is over water and they use floating balls with distance markers on rafts. They have old carts, some with gas power, and the cart paths are largely dirt. The course itself is in good shape and fun to play even though it seems short with the back tees playing to 5846 yds. There is a water course down the right side of most of the holes on the front nine and water is in play on the back nine as well. If you bring a slice to the first tee, bring your waders and a ball stick. This course is in a Regional park valley and there isn't a home in sight. As it's name indicates, it's in a valley full of willow trees and an abundance of wild life crisscrosses the fairways without fear. The course doesn't drain well and should be avoided after a hard rain but everyone should play here at least once a year,"it's a hoot".
Nice well kept course, greens are fast and true. Fairways are well watered and there are a lot of fairway sand traps. I recommend using the blue tees if you usually use the white tees, the white tees are short on this course. The blue tees give you a course length of 6241 yards and the white tees 5769 yards. The driving range provides free balls for those who are playing and you can hit um till your hands bleed, so knock yourself out. There is a putting and a chipping green as well. The staff is friendly and the course is uncrouded. This golf course is in the middle of a truley hidden community with a brook running through it and a lake in front of the 17th green with water comming into play on several other holes. The senior week day rate is $50 and worth it as they also give you great service along with all the tees you can use and a monogrammed green pick. This course reminds me of The Bridges Golf course in its character. The course was designed by Arnold Palmer and unlike a number of other courses if you hit the ball in the fairway it is always in view. Make sure you pick up a yardage card at the first tee as the pictures give you a great understanding of each unique hole. I recommend this course and everyone should play it at least once.
Callippe has lush fairways, well watered, even in mid August. The greens are thin skined and very fast and most of the course is wide open with a lot of new trees.(the course is only two years old) The fees are about 30% higher than the other east or south bay public courses I have played. ie: A senior walking costs $31.00 on week days here, while franklin Canyon charges $23.00 and Delta View(the lowest) charges $15.00. It is a course worth playing, but try it in the fall or spring, it was 102 degrees when I was there on 8/14/08. This course has a high difficulty rating but in 2006 the golf Digest rated it the best new public course in the country in the moderate price range(under $75.00).
One of the best public courses around.Greens are nice and there is a variety of ups and downs. They have a chipping green as well as one for putting.A driving range with real grass helps you work on stopping the ball, something I have trouble with. It's location means that temp. is somewhat warmer than most other bay area courses.Their 17th hole was mentioned in an article sunday in the west county times on the best holes to play in the area.
